You don’t need boiling water at all, if you mix the dye with a bit of water in the bowl you can make it so that it dissolves evenly into a liquid and you can just pour it into the rest of the water. Using boiling water is just unnecessarily damaging to the hair, the dye will absorb into the hair the exact same with warm water. Also it’s better to submerge the hair all in one go as once you put a bit of hair in it dilutes the rest of the dye in the water so the rest of the hair won’t be all the same colour and that’s when it goes sort of patchy looking.

WOW. I've been racking my brain, trying to figure out how to get my hair with streaks of the different colours of the ocean with water colour for the longest time. I didn't want to do it the old fashioned way because that would take way too much dye. Thank you for this!
