Alright, I'll admit it: I'm a fake ass horror fan. The only Scream movie I've seen is the first, and it was so long ago I barely remember it. But it's finally time to right this wrong.
In preparation for a brand new entry in the series, I marathoned Scream 1, 2, 3, and 4 from the comfort of my new van Ruth. Less comfortable? The various creepy parking lots I sat around in all night. But hey, couldn't have picked a better spooky setting to watch these movies in!
Plot (via Wiki):
The films follow Sidney Prescott and her struggle against a succession of murderers who adopt the guise of Ghostface to stalk and kill their victims. Sidney receives support from town policeman Dewey Riley, tabloid reporter Gale Weathers, and film-geek Randy Meeks, along with various other friends, romantic partners, and acquaintances that change as the series progresses.
This is an audio commentary ONLY. It is meant to be watched along with the movie so you can raise or lower the volume on the commentary or the movie itself as you wish.

Eric claiming he knew the plot twists in the first Scream and then completely forgetting that there were 2 killers- the biggest plot twist of the movie- was comedy gold
"I knew it wasn't fucking Billy." I was ROLLING hahahaha
@@jm4954 YES. I stopped the video to find a reply comment like yours. It’s gotta be a reply to not spoil it, but Eric said it with such vigor 😂
So good
@Castelar Garcia No fucking way you got it right
There are so many people who say this and act like they knew it.
“I knew it was Billy”
“oh he died, definitely stu”
“See i knew it was Billy and Stu. Sure this was my logic at the time watching the movie but I didn’t and don’t pretend I knew it was the both of them
Eric can recite Saw lore in its entirety in like 3 minutes but he’s never seen any Scream movie until now…
most people have arbitrarily seen and not seen a bunch of movies regardless of size. most of my friends group ahs watch random marvel movies but not like avengers endgame as well as most havent seen shawshank redemption or titanic but have seen like dog shit movies multiple times just because.
He said in the beginning that he has seen scream 1 but not the other ones
@@Mel-nw2ko yeah I wrote my comment before I watched it lmao
@@dillonoickle5841 yeah but we expect more from a UA-camr who’s main content is movies, your dumb friends I expect to have never seen Scream lol.
I can see that. I'm really particular when it comes to certain genres, so I'll love one movie series but I won't have seen anything from another series
Someone discovering a van with a guy in it who's talking to himself and screaming "YOU FUCKING KNEW THAT, ERIC!" would probably be scarier than any of these movies.
Especially if the person walking by is named Eric.
Or "you put a sausage on the bed you sick fuck!"
Eric recognizing everyone in Scream 2 except Timothy Olyphant is hilarious
To be fair he does look a lot like Josh Duhamel 😂
he said it so much i started questioning it lol
LITERALLY SO FUNNY
I’ll never get over how Timothy Olyphant appears in The Office and Kelly actually says that he looks Josh Duhamel
@@ShMeatWadJosh duamel agrees and he’s actually in Timothy olaphants Christmas card
You never seeing these, is literally the BIGGEST plot twist in the series😱😱
I know right?
He definitely has seen these.
@@j2174 y would he need to lie?
i was SHOCKED he only saw the first one and barely remembered it, its so up his alley
@@pinkjellybeans00 He states things throughout the video that make it pretty clear he has seen them to at least some degree.
Fun fact: there's a cartoon network bumper that has Daphne getting a phone call from ghost face then it's revealed to be shaggy at the end of it, which was clearly done as reference to Matthew Lillard and Sarah Michelle Gellar who played those characters in the live action Scooby doo and they were obviously in scream 1&2
i need it
And cartoon network is where Powerpuff girls is aired (not sure though) and Roger L. Jackson played Mojo Jojo and Ghostface, It's perfect
That is awesome! I just found the video on youtube. That's right up there with the bumper of the Scooby-Doo Blaire Witch parody. 😆
Fun fact: Roger L. Jackson, the voice actor who does the voice of Ghostface, also voices Mojo Jojo on the Powerpuff Girls. So now whenever I hear Ghostface over the phone, I can’t help but picturing Mojo Jojo talking on the other end lol
Hey! That’s a fun fact! Honestly didn’t know that and now I’ll never forget 😂
that’s so funny I never knew that!
Also, he wasn't originally supposed to be in the final film; he was originally hired to just read lines over the phone so Drew Barrymore had someone to play off of, and they figured they'd dub the final voice in post, but he did such a great job they kept him on. I think Barrymore was the only actor to have met him, as for the rest of the shoot-after they decided to hire him-Wes Craven kept him hidden so he'd be more mysterious, and therefore scarier, for the rest of the cast.
@@damianoakes2592 Oh, so it was an Anthony Daniels CP3O type situation, cool. I actually meet him at a con recently and he said he would be on set, but hidden off to the side, watching the actors throw a monitor, and reacting to them live, which is very interesting.
You bringing Go Tigers into as many commentaries as possible is one of your best traits. It's a gift!!
If that's not a fired up reference, I'm gonna be upset lol
Bet you it's referenced in the Scream 5 commentary too
@@HandsomeLongshanks its a joke from pretty much it's thirteen reasons why commentary
@@remyuk it actually began at the Sierra burgess reaction I think
@@jfnshit772 oh my bad, you're totally right!
There are two types of people in the world:
people who argue that Scream is a SEMINAL horror movie the changed the game entirely.
And people who are wrong.
Also let met tell you, "I never said I was in your closet." was iconic. You could hear a pin drop in the theater.
Scream 4 appreciation ❤️
I genuinely don’t know how people hated scream 4 it’s my second favorite in the series
@@alydanvers gotta love it ❤
May favorite parts of these movies is how Sydney continually becomes more bold when dealing with the killer. She still mostly runs away but by Scream 4 she’s actively chasing them and beating their ass whenever they show up. It’s sad that she’s no longer gonna be the lead for these movies anymore, but I guess this is just what kinda happens when you make a series last this long.
It’s the character development that always made scream feel so real to me, I like how we’ve seen them all become more capable over time.
When life doesn't give you a break, you gotta get ahead of it at somepoint
Sidney became boring after the 2nd... obvious you can read it from her face... but I don't mind her much in 4... completely unneeded in 5.
Im glad they passed rhe tortch and now she can live in peace
As someone who’s already watched/listened to all of these tracks, I can’t recommend them enough!
literally i rewatch them all the time - just rewatched scream 2 track two weeks ago!
FR
Eric literally seems like the target demographic for these movies and he’s never seen them that’s wild
i loved lucy hale in her starring role in “television and film”
That was hilarious
Scream was the first horror film I ever watched. It’s what made me realize “hey, I can handle this and I like this.”
same!!
OH MY GOD SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAME.
sameeeee
Same for me! My friend showed me it and from that point on I could tolerate every horror movie lol
Yes! It's the perfect beginner horror movie
calling Timothy Olyphant Josh Duhamel is so cursed lol made me rethink everything i knew about the movie😭
lol this was so weird to hear
Eric looking around in the van frantically during that one scene is the funniest thing ever to me
Watching Eric do commentary where he is genuinely scared or confused rather than joking around is a testament to the power of Scream as a horror movie
The scariest part of this video is Eric's immediate reference point for Jerry O'Connell and Portia de Rossi being Bryan Fuller's failed Munsters reboot from a decade ago
I appreciate that Eric’s choice to film in the dark in the middle of nowhere almost immediately backfires when he remembers that he’s watching a horror movie lmao
Edit: Also, I’m looking forward to your commentary on Scream 5. I personally enjoyed it.
In a VAN no less!
Glad someone recognizes the brilliance of Scream 4 too
Its my personal favorite but i think Scream 1 is a better film
Did Eric have an "all night fright" fest in his van watching these movies?? What an awesome atmosphere for a horror binge holy shit
Eric freaking out in his van thinking someone is hiding around it plotting to kill him is insanely funny
It's funny you called Timothy Olyphant Josh Duhamel because in one of his interviews, Tim says his own mother once confused him for Josh lol
i was so excited for you to get to scream 4 i was like "omfg he is going to love the opening scenes" and i truly had the biggest smile watching you react the whole time; it was like showing a friend something you love and them being just as excited about it :)
Scream is my favorite horror series because it’s not supernatural and it’s not too gory (compared to saw and other series’). I also love the whodunnit aspect of them and I think Sidney is the best final girl ever!! I’m glad you’re finally getting to see them all 🙂
I usually stay away from any type of scary movie because I get scared easy and I don’t like supernatural stuff playing in my house… still haven’t seen any of the movies lol but I’ve been going down a UA-cam rabbit hole of scream videos and I love it
@@4evjessagirl you should watch the scream movies if you haven't already, they're very good and entertaining, they get tense but aren't very scary and have a great balance with humour
You picked the PERFECT place to watch these if you never want to sleep again. 😂
I can tell from the title alone that this video is gonna be an absolute blast! can’t wait to see how you react to the films! :D
enjoy, mikey!!
I love how Eric says “ I could watch this whole movie” talking about stab. After literally watching scream. Yes Eric you could, because you did.
I was worried that Erik alone would make for not as enjoyable of a commentary but the fact that he's watching in a van which is playing to his spooks is killing me 😂
The van was watching the movie
Don't worry Eric! Next time I hear a man talking to himself inside a van ill be sure to knock on the windows and run!!!!
DONT
love how the first appearance of Dewey, one of the staple 3 characters, first appears at 11:40 in this video 😭😭 not a single scene from the first two movies was worthy enough for the edit
I just didn’t say anything about him worth including haha. Love Dewey!
Wym? We see him in the Scream 2 commentary
8:10 💀💀💀
Eric is right; a garage door can't crush a person like that. The garage door springs? Those are actually deadly.
Also; couldn't it be argued that Scooby Doo is the ultimate Van-Life horror comedy :p?
To the people saying wish it was longer yada yada I had their patreon at 1 dollar originally it’s now 5 BUT it’s WORTH EVERY PENNY I swear brings me so much joy thank you for these because watching along with you is so much fun!
glad you’re enjoying the full tracks, anna!
I wish it was longer but a full length movie commentary is definitely worth money. It's nice that the samples he gives are as long as they are.
the script for scream 3 was literally written as it was filmed, so it's no surprise that it was a bit of a mess and a bit of a let down. Though since this entire series is sort of a critique of the slasher genre and how it has evolved over the years, I find it fitting that the third film was the weakest lol. Definitely my favorite horror series though and I'm so glad you reacted to it!!!
Eric: I totally remember how this movie ends
Eric: *still surprised by the ending*
Eric having a blast during scream 4 warms my heart
Just as nostalgic as the OGs
The little giggle after “she’s gonna die so miserably” 😂
Eric claiming he knew that there was more than one killer is so funny 😂
Imagine walking past a van late in the evening/night and just hearing some guy yelling and laughing
the best part about the scream series is that it IS just regular people doing this shit which makes it much more scary and obviously realistic
Just imagine being in the theater thinking Drew Barrymore was gonna be the main star in the film and watching her get killed off in the first 12 minutes.
incredible!
I think the funniest part about you being entertained that they turned the events of scream into a movie franchise within the scream movie franchise, is that the actual scream movie WAS based on real life murders that took place in the mid 90s
Scream is my favourite horror film franchise even if it isn't necessarily actually the best. A deconstruction of the greatest subgenre of horror by someone who helped to pioneer the genre is just beautiful and it's always amazing seeing another person introduced to the series.
And it's late but happy new years Eric and anyone else who might read this comment. Hope you all have a wonderful year
Hey thanks! Happy new year to you as well!
It’s probably the highest quality horror franchise. Especially for having so many entries. Most horror franchises get bad quick and are full of mediocre entries
I saw the first Scream at a neighbor's house when I was in elementary school and was horrified. The next day my grandma and I were in the garage and she accidentally closed the door and lights and left me there for like a minute but I was traumatized thinking Ghostface was going to get me😂
Ive always liked Scream 4 the best of the sequels. Feels so fresh while honouring the legacy of 1 and 2, plus the kills are fantastic and the performance of Emma Roberts is amazing, she really knocks it out of the park.
eric getting timothy olyphant confused for josh duhamel is so real i love it
I was so convinced that after all the years that I incorrectly thought that Timothy Olyphant was in Scream 2 just by Eric’s confidence of calling him Josh Duhamel
Fun fact: Charlie the incel somehow has the most body count out of all the killers in the entire franchise (ironic)💀💀💀 Jill doesn't even kill or suit up as Ghostface until the third act of her movie. She was just leading Charlie on into doing all the killings for her by promising him that she'd discount the price of her bathwater on her Onlyfans.
Simp lord
I think she killed Jenny in the opening. Jenny was the one that Trevor cheated on Jill with. So it makes sense, she wanted to kill her herself.
Actually, Roman has the most kills with 9.
Christopher Walken and Michael Shannon will have cameos in Scream 6 to complete the Kangaroo Jack reunion
eric remembering that shaggy was the killer but not billy was the best
so glad youre covering this gem of a franchise
Love how we both had the same reaction to “saw has no character development”
I binge watched these films recently, holds up way better than some other horror franchises, its more consistently entertaining than most of them to be fair.
Ghostface: I’m at your passenger door! 😈
Eric: Ahhh 😱 [1:44]
Scream 4 is underrated JUST for the Saw IV reference alone!!!
Honestly I think it's the best sequel
@@athenajaxon2397 it’s my favorite too! The Scream community doesn’t seem to like that opinion though 👀
Eric can make solo videos just as funny as ones with some friends
Eric panic locking the van doors & the realisation of the two killers for the first film killed me 😂
You know you made a good movie when even someone who already saw the movie is _still_ shocked at the twist
Scream 4 is massively underrated but has since become a cult classic with having one of the best motives of the franchise, as well as being so ahead of its time. Jill being Ghostface was easily one of the best twists of the franchises.
There was an improvised moment from Steve Ulrich and Matthew Lillard in the first movie. Steve accidentally threw the phone at Matthew because the fake blood on his hands was slippery, thus causing Shaggy to yell at him "You hit me with the phone, dick!"
Knowing he hasn’t seen scream 2. I cannot WAIT until the van kill and his reaction while in his van 😂
Eric, you're in for a treat for these movies. Scream is one of the best horror film franchise ever in horror history.
I can't explain just how much Scream and Scream 2 traumatized me as a 6 year old. 20 years later and I can only see these movies in the middle of the day with the lights on
when you ask " is this gunna be a thing throughout the movie where everybody's a suspect?"
i immediately did my Randy impersonation of it haha
“Everybody’s a suspect!”
there's a FORMULA to it, a VERY SIMPLE FORMULA
Not Eric in the van, in the middle of nowhere 😂 can’t think of a more perfect setting lol
"Oh no he's a little incel!!!" I'm screaming lmfao 😂😂😂
“I guess thats why they call it…oh she didnt scream.” thats where i lost it watching this video.
seeing Matthew Lillard just makes me happy
“Ohhh god he put sausage on the bed next to her!!!” 😂 I can’t I choked on my chips from laughing
you laughing at the dude for looking at the back and then you pan to yourself and doing it had me DEAD lmfaoooo
This might be my favorite video on this channel so far. Can’t wait for 5&6 videos! I loved the “what if it was in a van” bit and knowing exactly what was coming next. These movies are so fun. 5 is honestly tied with the first for my favorite.
I applaud you watching this by yourself in the setting you're in. Also also it's heavily theorized (or possibly confirmed) that stu and billy are ghost face instead of it being a third actor if you watch some videos on it they have different mannerisms and grunts etc. A plus film making
*I can’t wait for his reaction when he sees Clay from 13 Reasons Why in the fifth one.*
I just know he’s gonna love Kirby’s character 😭🤣
I love all the Scream movies. Scream 3 was kind of the Return of the Jedi (arguably the weakest, but still gave the protagonist a good ending, so it's fondly remembered)
there's a common car-related urban legend (I believe it was featured in the movie Urban Legends, but my memory is hazy...) where a guy and girl are fooling around in their car, guy leaves for reasons, girl starts hearing tap tap noises on car roof, police show up and say "come out of the car but don't turn around" (lol) of course she does and some maniac is on top of the car roof tapping it with her bf's severed head. I know, not a very good one. I hope it wasn't scary for you, that wasn't my intention.
SHHHHHHHH
Gotta love Eric
"I'm locking the doors again!!"
Cops on the phone: soo you've unlocked the doors
Rarely do I feel joy like the joy I feel watching Eric laugh, make jokes and have paranoid delusions in his van. Never stop🍻
I can watch just about anybody react to any Scream movie and I can watch the same reactions on repeat. I just love these movies.
ahhhh classic eric, just walking in the mountains in utah. such a classic eric move
Scre4m is so damn good, my second favorite in the franchise after the original
The best thing about Scream 4 is how delighted Eric gets by literally every creative decision. There, I said it xD
That little “My Gale” interlude was fucking _everything._ LOL.
And now I too am hella excited for you to watch _Scream (2022)_ aka _Scream 5._
Also, based on the trailer (Which you _have_ to watch after you watch 5!), _Scream VI_ looks fucking incredible!!
9:33... mmm whatcha sayy🎵
Fun fact, not only was Jenny Mccarthy is Scream 3's opening scene but she was also in Scary Movie 3's opening scene
Tatum shouting ‘fucker!’ hitting Ghostface with a bottle is ICONIC.
I've watched this so many times, I think it's my favorite PMI video! I love youuuu thanks for continuing to post, you bring me so much joy ❤️
OH MY GOD YESSS I WAS ABOUT TO SLEEP BUT NOPE I AM ABSOLUTELY STAYING UP FOR THIS! THANK YOU ERIC!
The Scream series is a classic and personally one of my favs.🙏🔪
Scream 2 SUPREMACY!!! Also, curious to see if he's as bummed by Scream 5's lack of chase scenes as I was. Also, also: I love Scream 3, but was similarly disappointed by the reveal. Even so, the energy in that finale, and Neve's performance, give me SO MUCH LIFE!
Kevin Williamson (guy who wrote scream 1, 2, and 4) has a new movie on peacock , called “Sick” and it’s a bunch of chase scenes. It’s really good.
@@Justafox305 Yes! I absolutely LOVE it, already one of my favorites of 2023!
I love this franchise. I’ve seen every movie countless times. WOW was it fun to watch with your commentary! Getting to listen with someone experience it for the first time really makes me appreciate just how well made this series is
1:43 The scream threw me 😂❤️
Nobody:
Eric: “the pattern on that door pisses me off”
😂😂😂
Eric continuously calling Timothy Olyphant Josh Duhamel 🤣🤣🤣
Your reactions are amazing for these movies!! It's like showing your best friend them the first time and getting to experience it new through them.
Rewatching all the Scream films in preparation for Scream VI, and of course I came back to watch this. Absolutely fantastic highlights!
It makes me so happy to see Eric do these movies, the original trilogy have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Scream 2 might be the most underrated horror sequel out there.
Calling Timothy Olyphant Josh Duhmal the entirety of scream 2 was hilarious
“Is everyone going to be a suspect?”
EVERYONE IS A SUSPECT!
