    Very nice seeing proper placement on the floor sheetmetal stamping unline a BUNCH of other videos! FreedomVanGo knows what they're doing

    Appreciate the detail of your video. Haven’t started my install yet to see if the wires and connectors are all the same. But, wondering what to expect for the necessity of recharging the main battery if wiring to it direct (no aux battery). How much power does it draw ? Is standard factory battery sufficient for 10-12 hr use without starting van to recharge (not upgraded to heavy duty battery) ?

      @@fivedimes5261 I don't believe it would be. I recommend a house battery to run it from or a low voltage cutoff such as a Victron smart battery protect

      @@FreedomVanGo Oooo ! Thanks so much for the quick reply !! ... That's what we thought. We don't have a house battery yet. Can you recommend a battery system/placement that could either
      1. be installed under the hood to power just the diesel heater (2023 AWD 144 Sprinter)... It looks like there is spot that could be big enough to mount a bracket on the drivers side atop the wheel well ?? ... or, ideally :
      2. power the diesel heater and addition of a couple outlets for use of occasional AC appliances/devices : 1500W kettle, laptop and phone charging, 1800W electric cooktop , and for constant power when parked to 45W(eco mode) - 60W(max mode) portable fridge/freezer.

    great video.but did i missed something? did you tap a hole on the tank or is there a blank connection for the fuel? lots of people tapping a hole and putting a metal pipe for the fuel inlet. but as you know that part isnt in the kit and eber says its the full kit.everything is in there that what you need to install the heater.i heard some people using the t connector to the line which come from tha tank to the engine but is it alright? doesnt make bubbles on the line or car intake?

    This is pretty good. It would be really helpful if you were able to show some of the smaller details a little closer. For example It would be good to see the oval spot under the passenger seat before you painted it and which end goes which direction. Also when you’re making the connections underneath with the fuel line, etc. that would be helpful too. And then finally making a connection to the Fuel tap at the tank.
    Where did you route the control wires for the thermostat to the driver seat?

    • @FreedomVanGo
      @FreedomVanGo  4 роки тому +1

      The things you mention are all pretty straightforward.
      You can see how the heater sits in the seat base, so before you drill, reflect that position and itw ill tell you which way it should orientate.
      Fuel line slips on, so no real need to show that
      and fuel tap connection is literally just pushed on.
      I have faith that you can sort it out!

      @@FreedomVanGo Thank you. And I think you’re probably right. Your videos give everybody else a lot of self reassurance. Sometimes those little details go along way. Seeing it in action is a huge benefit even when it’s a simple as pulling off a cap and pushing it in.Seeing it actually happen is invaluable. Thank you for sharing and go gators!

      @@FreedomVanGo yeah...those details really help. I've watched every S2 D2 install I can find, and only one had the same wiring harness/fuse set-up that mine does. Of course, they also skipped that part of the install. I HOPED this would be the one like mine and would cover it, but nope! Haha! Espar needs to get their stuff together with the directions. The fact that they include a CD is comical. It's like, "Man...if I had only bought this in the 90's, I'd have a computer to put the CD in!"
      It can all be a bit confusing...even the little stuff like Deutsche connectors.

      @@jasoncarnes9846 Honestly though, this is as granular for the install as we can get without making it 1.5 hours long. There is an assumption of ability when you do an install like this.

    Great video. I assume you used a factory "extra" fuel connection that's under the van. What if a guy has a factory coolant heater any tips as to what needs to be done in order to accomodate the extra fuel tap?

    Hello, I'm willing to install my Airtronic under my VW T6 just in front of my diesel tank, that is the only place I have under my campervan. Do you know if it's ok ? Can it be near a diesel tank ? Thank you.

    Thanks for the video! Just asking, but the directions on the fuel pump say it should be pointed up 15-35 degrees from the delivery side. I know you guys have done this a thousand times and I’m sure it’s fine. Btw I like the placement of all the hoses and especially the fuel pump.

    • @Midlothian55
      @Midlothian55 3 роки тому

      It is not "fine" or the Germans would say "not permissible" to install these heater at "zero degrees" . As you mentioned 15-35 degrees is the "permissible" slope. In addition, should you need to go further than the 35 degrees is also "permissible".

    Any way to get rid of all that extra feet of wire harness? Hate to see a huge bundle of wires anywhere.

    • @FreedomVanGo

      Unfortunately not really. Espar says don't cut their harnesses except the power portion. So we don't in general

    Thank you for this info - I agree with others, we need a bit more details and the wiring is the nightmare on these. :) My rubber grommet has 2 white plastic plugs in it (removable) and a u-shaped rubberized loop that is rather firmly attached to something inside. I can get the rubber grommet out only part way! Looking inside the other side of the connector, there are two firm pins that I believe are the other end of that black rubber loop. Any ideas? I'm afraid to pull too hard as they do not look like they want to come out. By the way, you should DEFINITELY have safety goggles on when using the metal hole saw, just sayin' - 😉

      Answering myself for the benefit of others here! Found out we had two harnesses, the other one (of course) had just the stuff you showed. I think the default coming out of the main harness was plugged off and only used if you are not using the easy start controller, perhaps...anyway, I think I solve it!

      @@FreedomVanGo Oh I do, but when wires are different colors and there's connectors on ends that you said needed pinning, things got a bit confusing. Your harness in fact is completely different from that of 6 other videos I've watch that were produced in 2020, and yours is closest to mine but not identical. I am contacting the company as I think I received the hydrionic/airtronic harness...
