Nice tutorial on the installation. I recommend placing the seam of the Butyl Tape on the back end of the Fan bracket. While driving, airflow pushes water towards the back of the van. Water will reach the front part of the fan then channel over, around and off the fan. The back side gets the least blast from the rain

Drilling = centre punch ( in this case you had a guideline template siround to go by ) pilot hole ,1st. Then use drill undersized for self toppings or same diameter for ba threaded or for clearance tiny bit bigger
Test run on scrap metal first for drill size and screw grab effectiveness
It's bit measures 3 time cut once
B.A bolt washers and nuts would been more right for this job
Loved your in cabinet aluminium and slide out bed build

We installed our max air roof fan today. We had watched your video at least 3 times and we knew what to expect at every step
It came out nearly perfectly and we are hopeful that we pass the water test once our sealants cure
Keep on doing what you do we appreciate it and hope to meet you on the road someday
Two questions we had for you.
1.How and where did you connect your fan to power?
    2. Have you thought about a make up air to allow fresh air into the Van when in exhaust mode?

The CRL 15x30 sunroof is much more versatile. It extends up a few inches for ventilation, lets in light. You can also remove the glass and climb up on your roof. I aim my DeWalt fan up towards it. The poor man’s maxxair. The maxxair draws on your battery and though it might not be a lot it’s still draining your battery.

    1. Do you know if the crew fan 2021 has a prewire to the OEM fan option location? If so, I imagine it has it's own fuse on the main fuse panel? I only plan to have a portable fridge, this fan and lighting (outside and inside) so don't think I'll be installing a full aux power system.

Hey Seven, I think a Dremel would have been much easier than a jigsaw, especially if you had an L-Bracket of wood to protect areas you dont want to cut. Dremels can cause a lot of sparks especially on metal but IMO won't suddenly zig zag like a jigsaw might. What do you think? A better option right?
Dremels can get hot and have motor burnout so when cutting metal I find it best to work for small amount of time and let cool, then work again, a cycle of 1 or 2 min working with 10 or 15 min cooldown.

    • @davidmarshall6124
      @davidmarshall6124 2 роки тому

No, a jigsaw is the correct tool for this job. A dremel is not the correct tool. If it is overheating, you are using it beyond its capabilities. Get a jigsaw with the correct blade for your application and use it. If you don't want it to wander, you can make a jig for saw to follow.

My question is with the liner on the inside. Like what is the trim suppose to mount to. Like it looks like you are putting screws up through your roof? Like my liner is not anything you can screw the trim into. It's just this foam stuff. So how do you have a place for the lower trim piece to screw into?

Dood you get 10/10 for enthusiasm and enjoy your vids, but you really need to under-mount a wood frame interior side so it clamps and firms up the roof.. Roof is thin and flexes too much, and no need for the mess use Sikaflex 512 on the screw heads and a bead around the mount..I Advise people to have a good look through Max install vids, they ain't cheap so avoid the grief...

I do videos about my Runaway mini camper and other Runaways and a few product reviews. I have over 1.25 million views so far. I am about to install the same MaxxAir on my 6x8 Runaway Camper RangeRunner and I found this very helpful. I know you do not need a life coach, but . . . seriously consider NOT having music run in the background when you are talking. It simply is not needed and is distracting and a little annoying. I learned that lesson long ago. Anyway . . . just a suggestion and it is not a salvation issue! Be safe.
