Hey Mato. Me and a friend always watch your videos, and love talking about them. In particular we love looking at the various styles of players and how they developed. We than thought is would be really cool if you did something like that. Like take a famous player, and just analyze a few games by him, describing style etc. You've already done it a little bit, but it would be great if you did it for more people, like Capablanca, Lasker, Botvinnink, Morphy and such.
Hi Mato. I have a stupid question: why the move at 0:45 (4.cxd5) is not a popular move? In my mind, the black pawn on d5 is stronger than white pawn on c4, so it´s a good ideia for white to exchange pawns. Thank you
I agree, d and e pawns are more valuable than c and f pawns. I rarely play queens gambit, but when I play against Queens Gambit declined, i always exchange those pawns in 3rd move.
I may be wrong, but I don't think that's a general rule especially so early in the opening, where pawn structure has not yet settled. White helps black open lines and he could have more chances to equalize in the midgame. It might be a matter of preference though. Another argument to support the idea that center pawns are not necessarily more valuable than flank pawns is the popularity of the open sicilian in king's pawn games. Is that an inferior position for white? I don't think it is.
Yet another awesome "Killer Move Mato" instructional video. Pay attention and one day you may find yourself in Adelaide playing against Mato in a tournament. You'll lose but at least you can say you played against him! hehe
It's not an achievement or anything worthy of exclamation, but then I know a kid that get's excited collecting stamps, and he holds them up and runs around touting it when he get's a new one like he's achieved something special. Fortunately for him though, he's 4 :-)
9:24 the position is not mate... check and advantage- queen for white, but after horses' exchange and black loosing their queen the black king can go to g7 :)
this guy deserves more subs!
This is a great demonstration of tactical chess. I feel like I need to watch this five more times to fully appreciate it.

Why cant black paly a6 at around 5:00? or even a5 earlier to stop minority attack?

Mato, may you make more videos of uncommon or strange openings?
Greatttt
Great game, Miroslav Filip is from Czech republic like me.
nice
its because when black plays exd5 you are suddeny behind in development

4.cxd5 is popular but not most popular
That's why you should always supress the minorities.
+1 you right. how master didnt see that
The minority attack is the reason for my reluctance to play 1. ... d5 in response to White's 1. d4.
why/? you can play 2... c6 and theres no minority attack anymore
Don't you worry, I care.

Emil Nikolow it is mate cause white horse on f6 is also giving check
LOL
9:56 pawn h 4, a better move
It still just wins the knight after h4->g4
At 9:20, night would not win queen, because of black's night defending that field.
Yes, knight will take the queen, there's double check from the knight and the white queen, black king must move, and then knight takes black queen.
u dont see the double check?
no one cares, they care about the video
