Not only was this guy a boy scout, but I also hear that he used to shoot .22 rifles as a kid - was even in a competition, so he already had plenty of experience not hitting anything, you'd think that would pay off in the long run. Turns out, not so much.
I like how it was standing on a pool the whole time as if to remind you that hydrophobia is a part of having rabies and not one of you went "turn on the hose to get it off the pool cover", but big net and hockey stick were on the table.
Rabid critters don't actually fear water, or much of anything. "Hydrophobia" is related to a human secondary symptom, incredibly painful swallowing due to swollen lymph nodes. So painful, even sipping water as you slowly died of brain eating virus fever was, to use the medical term, "ultra cringe at best". So no, "chase it with a hose" isn't really any better than "go for the hockey stick".

If animal control won't help, your next step is to call your state's forestry and wildlife service as they are specifically trained around rabid wildlife.
Yea and since they are nocturnal (unless crazy from the rabies) they do this shit in the middle of the night while you are asleep.
@@Hackerhunter15 I hate to disagree, but my sister works for our state's forestry service and she specifically requests you _not_ do that. The video did it right: call the cops, and if the cops want to call the forestry service, they'll do so. The forestry service is trained to deal with rabies, but they aren't the Ghostbusters. If you call them they might be able to get a representative out to your house in, say, a week.

1:56 when you see a rabid animal on your property, you stay inside away from it, and you either wait for it to leave on its own, or you call a workplace that handles animals
Don’t just wait for it to leave though definitely call someone so it’s not just wandering around spreading rabies

@@rainbow4516 rabies is pretty serious though. I mean don’t confront it yourself but at least let some authority know. If they don’t do anything then there’s nothing you can do but I’d at least try so the animal isn’t becoming a super spreader increasing the amount of rabid animals around.
