About This Video:
I built a kiln from bricks for the purpose of firing bricks. I started by using a brick mold made of fired clay from a previous video and made bricks from clay. The bricks were allowed to dry and were then transported to my hut using a brick carrying harness I made from cane and a piece of wood. They were dry stacked onto the wall of the hut to keep them out of the rain while waiting to be fired. I then constructed a brick kiln using mud as a mortar for adhering the bricks together. The kiln had 2 fireboxes side by side and was of the updraft kiln type. The kiln was open at the front and back so it could be stoked from these areas. This gave a more consistent firing I found then a kiln only with firebox opening at the front. I put 40 un-fired bricks into the kiln and fired them for 2 hours 30 minutes. All the bricks were fired sufficiently. I then tested an un-fired brick and a fired one by putting them in water. The un-fired brick dissolved quickly while the fired one survived completely intact. The test was a success. My only issue is the bricks are a little weak due to the clay they're made of. I'll look at refining clay or finding a better source somewhere in this area.
About Primitive Technology:
Primitive technology is a hobby where you build things in the wild completely from scratch using no modern tools or materials. These are the strict rules: If you want a fire, use a fire stick - An axe, pick up a stone and shape it - A hut, build one from trees, mud, rocks etc. The challenge is seeing how far you can go without utilizing modern technology. I do not live in the wild, but enjoy building shelter, tools, and more, only utilizing natural materials. To find specific videos, visit my playlist tab for building videos focused on pyrotechnology, shelter, weapons, food & agriculture, tools & machines, and weaving & fiber.

the head cam with "the walk" was a nice addition. I appreciated this.
yep, it really gave perspective on where everything that he does is located, relative to each other.

I was waiting for an alien to jump out
Very cool. Needs a separate mic though, maybe clipped to his hair or his pants. Right now breathing noises are way too prominent.
And I was expecting him to throw some eggs...
It looked like a scene from a horror movie.
The head cam was a really nice touch. I think using it sparingly, like for this video, is a good idea.

@@МиселимянАлина you're an asshole
Agreed!! Caught me off guard and was a really really cool touch!! 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
@@МиселимянАлина why you using fuck you emoji?
I really like the POV walkthrough, from the hut to the kiln. It's nice to get an idea of where things are in relation to each other!
I'd love it if he made a video on how he's thinking through developing the area, since it's relatively new. ie, where the huts will go, where the water filter system will go, where the fish pond may go, where the farm will go, the hole for mining clay etc etc etc... and why. He may have to speak to do it, which would break his brand.
Yeah he did that after the hut rebuild too and I also really liked that. It gives a completely new perspective, I always wondered what it looked like around there.
I have to thoroughly appreciate how much effort this guy puts in. Complete with making his own bricks and cement! Even down to something as simple as the fire!!
Almost at 10million subs.
Not a single word spoken
No drama
No clickbait
No beautiful/sexy girls
No B.S.
This guy is a freaking genius.the goat.
@Zed Isdead you must be really dumb..so humanity has been getting 10m subs for centuries?its not what he is doing but HOW he got 10m subs..its recreating* btw..also i would like to see you try what he is doing.see if its easy.
Fatality!
@Zed Isdead The deal is the way he produces his videos.
I think Zed has a point. He basically is doing what humanity has been doing most of the time during it's existence. The fact that what he is doing is so simple and yet he's so successful only shows that this is our habitat. I hear everyone in the comments saying how calming and relaxing this channel is but noone is questioning why or if maybe urban life isn't the best thing for us after all.
Uh but so many channels do this? I'm not complaining but he's unoriginal.
This is one of the best channels on UA-cam. No one trying to sell me a wallet, some cheap headphones, or an audiobook I'll never listen to. Straightforward and to the point, actually interesting and informative and zero clickbait.
So you haven't watched his videos to the end i guess. He is trying to sell you his book :).

But honestly, just imagine the dedication to spend years researching for videos, working his ass off to make this stuff, and slowly building a channel with millions of subscribers, all without talking... Just for one meme. And then imagine if he just got right back to work and never spoke again. That would be legendary.
I think it's about time John invents the wheel. A cart would've been very useful at the clay hole.
Wheels require smooth surfaces to roll them on. They have limited use if you don't have a well established trail.
