Thank you for this. I have watched a couple comparisons between these two lenses and yours is the best so far! Great job getting into the detailed differences between the two.
Hellios production of 44-2 lenses started on the KMZ factory, then expanded to BELOMO -mark is similar to KMZ, but with circle section rather than a trapezium- and, when production exploded, they made the last, lesser quality versions in VALDAY. So, most 44-2s around are VALDAY series, but BELOMOs are not rare if you shop a bit around. Some say those are the best made ones. For the 44M, they returned production to KMZ.
The early lenses were made in small quantities in the KMZ factory. Valdai opened in the 70s and the build quality dropped because production had been scaled up.
These are great lenses. I prefer 44m, I have one adapted for Nikon. More practical ergonomics. Also there's fresh alternative from Meyer Optik Gorlitz Biotar 58 f1.5 II for 1200euro

Thanks for this! Made my day, right when I'm questioning the algorithm and wondering if my videos and channel are helpful

I hate that I've watched so many videos about these lenses that I knew this, too. I need to get outdoors.

I have got 44-3. And I love how it produced characteristics in my image.
KMZ 13 Blade is the best of the best. I Have owned 44M and 44-2 there is no competition
Recently I've shot sunset portraits with the 44-2 and actually I've had the same nice lens flares you've had with the 44M
Such superb lenses!
Pretty cool lenses. Thanks for sharing this review. Cheers, Gregg! ✌️🇨🇦
thx , you right, top comparison
what focus ring diameter for the 44-2?
Once you know which version of the 44-2 you have (small symbol on front of glass), look up Tilta's chart 👍
