I like that Tsushima is unnaturally beautiful. It might not be realistic per day, but since you play the story through Jin's eyes, you see His Home portrayed as beautifully as He sees it. It fits from an artistic standpoint for helping visually tell their story, helping us love Tsushima as much as Jin does and makes us the players Want to defend it

It makes me sad every time I see it praised above the dozens of forerunners that paved the way for it to even exist. Let's not mention the fact that everyone in the game is dressed and equipped like it's 1500-1600 despite it being set in the 1200's!

Reviewers put way too much emphasis on comparing games to other games. Just use better descriptions. Let the game be itself instead of a compilation of others. I love Ghosts and Nioh, but seriously it's been over a year since most people have played them. This game has its own unique experience, and a review bomb of how it falls short of other similar games, is such a jaded view.

Team Ninja was never one for historical accuracy, but more like a fantasy take on history. Kind of like with Samurai Warriors of how they depict famous Samurai figures or legends in a anime type of way and they love to go over the top with Ninjas as well.

I'm enjoying it immensely. Getting accustomed to the combat, martial arts combos controls etc was confusing at first but once I got more accustomed I began to enjoy it more. I love the pace, stealthing/assasination opportunities (especially) and combat mechanics. Also the vast array of weapons, armour that you can get early o'clock. And the numerous amount of items you can pluck while exploring. There's so much I love about it including being able to have a capable twin blade on missions.
I'm taking my cool time as well, in no hurry to speed to main missions. I'm exploring every inch of an area as much I can grabbing as much stuff I can, helping folk and doing side missions before going to main missions and having a blast. And for once thank God I'm able to play a souls-like game like this without having to simultaneously follow a UA-cam vid walkthrough since the game basically makes it easy for you to go from A-B-C with clearly defined missions, directing you along the way reducing the risk of getting lost. Thank God for the map and navigation bar too. I've just finished beating Gonzo and sparing him so stopped and saved at that point. Can't wait to continue playing tomorrow.

I just want a down to earth, restrained, realistic open world samurai game. I don't understand why nobody will do this. Yojimbo/Sanjuro as a loose template. GoT got closer than anyone, but still so far. Ishin was good, but there is that lingering sarcasm and silliness. Rise of Ronin is like a checklist of mechanics ripped from the most currently profitable games. I hate how the word "traversal" has become something so common that it is part of reviews now, when really its just evidence of a lack of originality and an uninteresting world. Grappling into the sky and instantly bursting into a glider over and over is absurd. The fighting is always over the top. I don't think what I want is profitable to the mainstream audience though. I hope I'm wrong.

I played a game back in the day called Sword of the Samurai on the PS2 where you made your own samurai and just worked as a mercenary doing jobs and killing criminals, guarding merchants or even working as an assassin. It was actually pretty cool and kind of what I wanted out of a samurai game, essentially that of a ronin simulator. The fighting was basically a 1 hit and you're dead too, which made duels extremely tense. You could even take part in betting matches where you could gamble your sword away, or win a fancy one, and it had a super complex system of sword techniques and stances. The only thing it was missing is that it wasn't open world.

@@TheShogunate Obviously its subjective, but i have the opposite experience. i seem to never get tired of the combat loop in Tsushima, i can always go back to the legends mode and have fun. I know GoT is not 100% realistic but in games like this i think my tendency is to lose immersion with combat that's too over the top, so i think the fact that Tsushima is a little more muted in that aspect speaks to me. I also like that conversely, they decided to exaggerate on the beauty of the setting as well, it just generally made it a world i wanted to be in for long periods of time.
I thought Rise of the Ronin looked like a bit of a step back in quality (i have not actually played it though), but i do like the many weapon styles they allow and the switching between siblings on the fly mechanic looks interesting at least. I'll keep an eye out for your review video.

It looks like a decent game but with the flaws it has and how comparatively dated it feels even compared to older similar games like Sekiro, it feels like it’s only gonna be worth it when it goes on sale. Full price of $70 is not worth it. That price should be for games that can do all elements fairly well, and this game doesn’t.

The game it's okey. I don't care if people get mad or not or fanboys start cryng. The game is average or a bit above that's it. If you look at it cities are mostly empty, story is bad and quest feel ripetitive with always 1 boss in there. The sad part is i heard they wasted 5+years on this game.
However if you pass that and look on the bright side you got great things about the game. A lot of weapons to use, combat it's pretty good, you can assasinate enemies and i like that and i love the char creation and the pair bonding with other characters. So it's not bad. 6/10 maybe 7/10. I think it's a very enjoyable game to explore the open world and battle and do whatever you want and try soo many weapons.
So worth playng yes however payng 70 euro and more for it feels like a cashgrab. 40 euro and the game is good to go.

Encoding your videos down a bit to not have them look like utter dogsh!t after youtube uploads them is really a lost art among youtubers. Great video otherwise, at least your audio is balanced and not super quiet from having a peak normalised by the same youtube coraller, many are incapable of even that these days. Was curious about the game, hope it gets an eventual PC port like most PS exclusives.

the problem is that you review this game from the prespective of some history expert and not from the prespective of a gamer. the game was not meant to be historically accruate. just like how rouruni kenshin is a combination of fantasy and real history. they take elements from history and combine them with arcade elements. this is the exact mistake your friend metatron makes. both of you are too much relying on historical accruacy.

i did, it seems to me that every time you see even the slighest mention of shinobi/ninja you immidiatly trash the game. because its not "historically accruate" like how you trashd the uncoming AC game set in the meiji era.
i dont know if you're japanese (i think you are) but you probably know that japanese devs/filmakers love to insert those kind of fantastical elements in their productions. the number 1 goal of any developer is to make money, and if ninja sells they are going to include it, they are making a semi fantasy game so why should they care if its not "historically accruate".
flying with a glider is not very "accruate" as well. this game look like it was inspired by rouruni kenshin alot. meiji era, fantastical elements combined with real history. this is the style they were going for. i really dont see any problem with that, this game was not meant to be realistic to begin with.

Another Sony cashbrag, trying to replicate the succes of ghost of tushima (or sekiro etc) on a lower budget (or it seems so) art looks insipid, gameplay looks clunky, animations look stiff , story not looking too enganing either. Lack of original ideas wich is not bad in itself, but taking alot of elements and mechanics from other games, blending them togheter and hoping somehow it sticks without really knowing why those elements and mechanics work in their respective games. Hard pass, souless product.
Skyrim had a similar horse running animation and that shit came out 13 years ago.

You do realize that the developers of this game also made the Nioh series which predates both Ghost of Tsushima and Sekiro right? Nioh is certainly heavily inspired by the Dark Souls style of gameplay but saying that they are trying to replicate the success of Ghost of Tsushima is a bit of a stretch. There are similar elements for sure but there are also plenty of things that they improved upon here as well.

The box font dialogue takes you out of the imersion. Graoling hook like sekiro and deflect parry sistem close to . Nioh probably not they copied wo long dynasty with the checkpoints the button layout prompts and the deflect ... not to say that graphics are dead and burried . This was the most disappointing game i ever pre ordered ever . I spent 40 minutes in character creation and 11 minutes in tutorial until i decided its to garbage to waste my time like this .
