How safe is Nicaragua these days? I've heard mixed things?

There's alot of poverty being the poorest of America along with Haiti - really sad. Good news is there's no longer armed conflict. Political it's more stable now then in the past 40 years.
I wouldn't be concerned with crime ... unlike many parts of Mexico.
+Ch “Desertoasis” M Nicaragua is very safe, in fact it is the safest in Central America. Things have changed quite a lot since the late 70's and 80's. There are a lot of Americans and Canadians both touring and living in Nica now, but it's still very untouched in the sense that you can still enjoy simple beauty. I have been a lot and never had any issues. I hope to see you visit sometime and would be happy to recommend places for you :)
+CIGARVIXEN I would go down to Nicaragua hopefully with a woman as open minded as Delicia! The two of us just smoking, drinking, enjoying good food and whatever else the place has to offer!

Delicia it must be great to get away to a place that is so smoking friendly or basically a smoking culture! I have to ask are most of you BF's Latina because I would imagine most of your american girlfriends might be a little uptight because of the cigar smoke smell and the smoking in general? As opposed to your latina girlfriends who might have grown up with more cigar smokers around them.
