A century even. Not even RN's successor on able to hold a century of naval dominance
It already had naval superiority since the 1790s. The Continentals just didn't bother sailing out as much again.
Tbf it was about a Century and a bit. Trafalgar merely confirmed what had really been a fact since about 1798 (The battle of the NIle)
As a French it's kinda painfull to be reminded of it

I love how the cannonfire basically never ends, as with one of these battles that really would be the case, dozens of ships each with at least 40 cannons, all of which are firing.

This one battle is underrated. We secured our naval dominance for a century. We lost our greatest admiral but his sacrifice gave way for us to never be contested like this for so long

I feel like Nelson died exactly as he would've wanted to surrounded by his men after recieving news of victory
So great was this reputation, that at Jutland at 1916, when the German Admiral realized the British were maneuvering into line formation to go blow for blow like the old days, he noped right the fuck out and didn't come out to play for the rest of the war.
Yep, not until the Battle of Jutland (1916) in WWI would British naval superiority be challenged on a scale that it was in 1805.

People sometimes talk about strategic depth, this is the idea that you want the lines of battle as far away from your major population centers as possible. Thanks to Nelson at Trafalgar, British strategic depth extended to all the world's oceans, and would stay that way for the next hundred years.

In the 1900s we had a great land army however unmatched by the performance of the 1700s and 1800s foot armies, with them fighting wars and battles like Rorke’s Drift and Plassey (EIC) and cooperating with the RN to take places like Quebec
