You have to give it permission to operate on your phone, otherwise it's not being pushed to everyone in place of anything else.

I'm not treating the pixels if it's new. Pixels were way more expensive 3rd and 4th generation than they were the 6th and 7. I'm comparing pixels to their own pricing from just 2 years ago . And last year .
They have raised prices considerably 2 years in a row including $140 more if you have the $256 GB model. (People keep saying it's $100 price increase, but if you're getting the 256 gigat bite model, it's actually gone up 140).
I you got to remember the pixel 8 pro was 1060 for 256 GB and now $1,200. The pixel 7 pro was 960 for 256 GB. That's $240 more in just 2 years time.
Like the OnePlus 12 with 256 GB is 699. And they give you OnePlus buds pro with it . And that has better silicon. Practically twice the battery life. Charges that 80 w. Comes with the charger in the box. There's no 128 GB model at any price. 50 wireless charging.
I have used nothing but pixels for 4 years and I just think this year is incredibly disappointing and I don't understand how you are still resistant to other people having that opinion.
You seem to suggest that anybody that's critical of the pixel is coming from bad faith or being completely unfair.
$240 price increase in 2 years ... Or 200 for the 128 GB model which should not exist. I crucified Samsung for having a 128 GB model at $1,200 just 2 years ago. It would be deeply hypocritical for me not to have a similar criticism from the pixel 2 years later when storage needs have gone up.

Like for $240 extra dollars I would expect meaningful hardware benefits. Like maybe if this was the year they introduced TSMC or if the battery got significantly bigger. Maybe they put the charger in the box. How about they use a digitizer with USI stylus or market a proper desktop mode with a dock.
Again $240 is a lot of money. Only thing we seem to be getting for it is modestly faster charging, better ultrasonic fingerprint sensor 50 AI features I don't care about. Most of which will probably end up on every other Android phone or most of them in time

@@michaelcorcoran8768 Sounds like you have the reasons to try something else. It’s not gonna make sense for everyone but that’s why I dig Android, options for if you don’t like a direction a brand is going there other brands to go with and it’s Android so the core experience will be there no matter what

@@michaelcorcoran8768 Most of those features won’t end up on every Android. Looking into Google One plans and you can see they like Apple & Samsung are invested in charging for the advanced AI features. Gotta pay to play. Nothing wrong with walking away from a brand that’s not catering to what you need for the price.
