I watched the full series. (White Lie Episode 1 and 2) and i really miss that texas talking guy called Ellis. I even feel bad about Ellis making a sacrifice just to help the others escape.
The only bad part is that I either focus on the convo between Louis and Francis or the convo between Coach and Zoey... Which means I'll have to watch the scene twice and not get distracted by the other...
This series really reminds me of The Walking Dead Telltale Game. Coach is Lee,Zoey is Clementine when she wore a hat. And everyone who she is with dies.

So what i see in this scenario is that keith the owner of the truck tracked the survivors down and is gonna try and get it back also getting a inside of what they are capable of which is why he gave a jockey a camera so a possibility of them knocking them out and dragging them back to the place where they left off by meeting the new survivor group so there being held randsom until zoey tells keith where she got the hat of his deceased friend ellis
Spring Freddy [BR] Ellis was like Omid from the walking dead game funny but was not that much of a main role and tbh Ellis was not as important as most characters and also zoey is independent and with or without Coach and Ellis Zoey can survive.Also Ellis dying made white lie feel more... emotionally attaching also I do not miss Ellis that much.So I disagree I think Ellis dying creates that depressing atmosphere but I have to say your idea would/could be used in an alternative story of white lie.
