The airlines and the oil companies are too powerful in the United States to being able to develop such locomotive method.

I traveled to Madrid from Alicante in January just before covid on my way to Melbourne Australia from Barajas airport, I went Preferente and the service was superb. I later found out that by paying preferente that I would have got full valet parking at Alicante for the duration of my journey also free airport transfers to and from Barajas and also a inclusive meal and drinks service on the AVE from Alicante to Madrid and the same on the return. I think the price of the ticket was no more or not much more than 50-00€ each way. Amazing service and amazing value, oh and the train departed to the second and arrived on time!! ❤️🇪🇸

They can be great value, but also very expensive for last minute bookings. All Spanish long-distance and high-speed trains include a free local transfer at both ends by tram or local train for free. Renfe have since completely overhauled their classes and booking system recently, so it's all different now!

Years ago in my youth [1973] I traveled by train [2nd class] from Lisbon-Madrid-Paris and Vienna. The compartments held 6-8 people. Certainly different from today. Vendors came onboard at some of the stops selling snacks. 2nd class today looks heavenly. Now I am old enough and wealthier 1st class all the way! Great video. I travel with you. 🙂

Great service for a reasonable price! It's really cool that you can afford prices between 10-30€ for high-speed train in that distance. In US and Japan minimum starts from 100$. Also, really clean, fast and comfortable! It is said that high-speed trains in Spain and Italy are underestimated. Mostly, when people hear about those trains they usually think about Japan, France or sometimes China, but not Spain.

@Paseos por Madrid, you may not think that the Amtrak Acela is fast, but for the part of the United States it's travelling on, it's fast enough to qualify as HSR on the sections that allow for said high speed. It could be worse; America could have no passenger railway at all, like Mexico does.

@@f.baraka878 hahah hit a bare nerve uh? Please think twice before spreading your nationalistic bullshit propaganda and misinformation.
High speed technology in Italy is one of the most advanced in the world since it is exported all over the world, you surely can’t say the same for Spain, also you can see the quality in the way that the italian high speed trains are designed to service all Europe, not just Italy, in fact the Frecciarossa is already operating some routes in France, and also generally being regarded as nicer and more confortable than the local trains.
Another thing is the Frecciarossa being designed to operate at 400 km/hr but the ministry of transport hasn’t given the clearance yet, don’t exist anything like that in Spain.
And for last thing you have to consider the geograpy of the countries, in Spain is much easir to build the railways because
it has many more plains while Italy is almost entirely mountainous whit just one big plain in the north and another much smaller in the deep south, so to
Build any railway you have to bore several kilometers of deep tunnels in the mountains making it very expensive and difficult, so you can see that a lot of routes running through the appennini in central Italy are truly an engineering marvel.
Other than that by being really narrow there isn’t really actually much physical space to build more, and most places are already well served by the existing network so there isn’t much need either.
and how can we not say that it is efficient if it is the country where NTV opened with the Italo train, that is the first private high-speed operator in the world?
Actually doing really well and being profitable.
If I may ask you a personal question, why all this animosity towards Italy? What have they done to you so bad that you are so angry? Just chill out a little

    • @willy4170

@@f.baraka878 am I rude? Its you that started insulting dude, but I’m sorry if i was a bit aggressive or if i offended you.
I’ll re-explain it, the trains made by Ansaldo Breda were exported all over the world, as well as the pendolino technology developed by Fiat to make tilting trains, so the first and only patent about it is Italian, plz let me know when Spain has this patent.
And also how Spain with more sparsed mountains on a larger territory compare with central Italy that is completely mountainous? So if want to build a railway there, mountains are always in the way, while that is not the case in Spain,
Here is a small piece of railway section
That is not even one of the longest and with the most galleries
      ua-cam.com/video/RhvfoGz6pfQ/v-deo.html
And also as i said before, the central body being narrow there isn’t much physical space to build too much more infrastructures, and need to be noted that everything build there need to be done with extra care since it is a really earthquake prone area
And what are you boasting about anyway? Having some high speed trains and all others still running on diesel locomotives?
And what i was talking about in the other comment is that Trenitalia is actually one of the few companies planning to expand its service all around Europe and not just in Italy as you can see here ua-cam.com/video/Op-pQqbwkw0/v-deo.html
      And this
      ua-cam.com/video/38G2pNV7gUo/v-deo.html
And will be opened much more soon.
And it is not even the only operator, there is also Italo that is also first private high speed operator in the world, opened and operated without the need of any public fund.
While how many companies do you have in Spain? And the Spanish railway company how is doing? Doing well and being profitable?
Im not boasting about anything if you ask, and I don’t have absolutely anything against Spain,
(Maybe except doing a repression so hard and severe in Catalunya, and continuing to persecute it’s former president)
I wrote this just to clarify and not out of animosity, and also surely not to prove who is superior and who sucks just for a need to assert dominance, because that is one of the most stupid and silliest discussion that just kids in kindergarten could do.
If you are happy with the Spain infrastructures, good for you! can't you just be happy for that?
Why do you need to say that being compared to the Italian is an insult?
Why do you need to belittle the work of others to feel better about yourself?
That is a clear sign of lack of confidence.
But anyway, you are free to think whatever you want, and I’m not interested to continue this discussion any further

Thank you, nonstop eurotrip! So there, you make me very happy, because very high speed trains are my favorite. Your videos are very informative. You filmed the entrance to Barcelona station very well. It's good. What you filmed at 20:11 is wonderful, you can see all the high-speed trains. A pure treat for me. The image is exceptionally beautiful. It's very moving that Dylan filmed your departure by train. My favorite channels are 1) Dylan and yours and 2) the "cab ride". I have major health concerns. Currently, we cannot travel. Also, seeing the channels of Dylan and you, your videos, will travel me while staying in place. The cheaper a train, the more I love it. Being passionate about trains, it's happiness for me. In addition, it is a very high speed train. So I can't ask for anything more, super high speed trains are my favorite. Hope you are filming enough to have two videos a week all the time. Two videos a week, that's the treat. I love all of Dylan's videos and yours. Thanks to you !

Beautiful train with all the style the Spanish are famed for. But Barcelona Sans station is a bit of a pit, good to see it’s finally finished but it’s really badly designed when it comes to getting to and from trains, narrow escalators leading to the platforms get very crowded and I have seen some people injured. The other much much bigger problem with the station is it’s riddled with pick pockets and I mean riddled. I know several people who have been robbed there so make sure all purses and wallets are hidden away and securely fastened. I know one person who has put razor blades on the outside of his wallet so fed up was he with getting robbed. Enjoy your journey through there but be safe and careful

They were building the AVE line when I lived in Catalonia. It still bums me out that Tarragona's station is out in the middle of nowhere, but I know that's just a necessity because of terrain and most of Spain's broad gauge already in place getting right into cities.
Even in Valencia, the AVE line has its own station because of this, but at least it's next to the main station.

ERTMS level 2 was taken down due to problems with the GSM-R. It was redeveloped and currently undergoing testing, it is supposed to be back online in 2022. But speed will remain at 300kmh due to energy eficiency and maintenance reasons. Going above 300kmh greatly increases the maintenance cost and consumes a lot of energy, so ADIF will not allow it.

And, more options will be avaliable next year. Private operator Ilsa, will start services next year in this route, with the commercial name Iryo. With a fleet of Hitachi / Bombardier Zefiro trains, classed as Serie 109 in Spain. The inital two sets are already doing tests and homologation.
Also, with the new schema fare, you can also add youth card discount. Before you had to choose when booking the promo fare or standard with youth discount. This has gone and now you add the youth discount directly.
And finally, if you are on a budget and no place on low cost or too much expensive, first and last service of the day in each direction has lower base fare (and lower advance fares than other services). This was put in place since the suppression of night service between the two cities

I know very few things about Spain, but I find it so cool that you basically have the choice between german trains, french trains and italian/polish trains as I would call them!
I also wonder, how can they make high speed service although the height difference is so gigantic? (something like 0 to 1000 meters I guess). Does it feel like you're climbing the whole time? I see all of these tunnels... it's great that something like that is possible.
Oh, and is it possible to take a direct train between Madrid and Lisbon?

    •  2 роки тому +1

Very smooth slopes are achieved, in addition to tunnels, building aerial sections that pass over some valleys at a height of 40-50 meters. The Madrid-Lisbon AVE was budgeted and almost be approved, but finally it was considered a higher priority to get the airport out of the center of Lisbon.
