Anyone anyone with a working ear can hear all the individual notes when Mariah is executing her riffs and runs. Videos don’t need to be put in the “slowest speeds” in order to hear them.

I listen to every genre including classical music which I love. I've heard a lot, but there is something the way Beyonce does her runs that separates her from the rest. I don't know maybe it's the 'hiccup' technique she does mid-phrase (sometimes in the middle of syllables). Also she does different varieties of runs. I don't want to explain. You better go and watch for yourself since you are already in UA-cam.

I can't even explain how she did that it sounds like it came from her throat yet the speed tells you that it came from the diaphragm. I've been practicing runs and I can already do fast airy runs, but that particular run always makes me so damn depress because there's no way I can do it I even send the link to a vocal expert and do a tutorial about it to this day I haven't heard one tutorial on that type of run execution.

+Marrico Rogers Hey, thanks for commenting. Riffs are a short set of notes that are sung repeatedly....for example at 0:57 Beyonce's runs in "Next Ex" are riffs. Melismas are a set of notes sung in one syllable. For example at 2:47 when Claudette sang "I..." she used about 21 different notes for that one syllable. So frickin impressive. A lot of the other runs throughout the video were a mix of melismas and riffs. I just grouped them under "vocal embellishments" because I was being lazy lol. I hope that explains it.

(Most of you have heard her and DONT know who she is but she is the chick from Soul TO soul) Jay Moss, and there is a cool dude that sings good as hell that not many people know about his name is Rich King. I have only seen a couple of his songs here on youtube he usually sings like acousticy type shit but he vocal ability!!!!!! I know he has one song called Jpeg and another one called the Villan I think. He is definantly worth a listen. He doesnt do too many runs and shit but his pure texture reminds me of Donnie ALOT!
