Just bought a 2008 Picanto 3 for my better half who is learning to drive. Fully comp for her on a provisional licence was £260 with Admiral, although we went for multi-car as I am already with Admiral and it went down to £222. I test drove the car, and it is what it is: a small engined, small car designed for the city. If you want to be speeding down country lanes, and handling like its on rails, then buy a sportier car! It does what it should, and the ride is quite comfortable. It also has plenty of kit: 4 speaker CD/Radio, electric windows front and rear, air con, remote central locking, alloys wheels and a rear spoiler. Ok, so we haven't picked it up yet, so there may be issues we don't know about, but on face value, it seems pretty ok.
I have a 2007 EX. Yes its a little sluggish but it's very impressive in other ways one being very comfortable to drive. I find it a decent Hwy driving machine as well with very good fuel economy and practical.
3rd hand owner since 2014 best city car in my opinion , cheap to run and no problems whatsoever !!Servicing only the essentials , oil filters etc!!Best car ever!!Hyundai - Kia became the most reliable car manufacturer in the latest years!!!
the insurance is proper cheap for a young first time driver. very good for my first car the breaks are very touchy stops fast. Also have very good handling I have the LX 1.1 took much power when setting of causes wheel spin. but spot on for a first car
Young Rapunzel I'm middle aged and just passed my test. I was typing in various car models on my phone as I was looking at them at a used car dealers and comparing prices. My insurance cost £600 with a company called Go Skippy who were £200 cheaper than the nearest rivals so a big saving. As I said I'm middle aged so it will be more for you if you're younger but a Picanto or an Hyandai I10 or Fiat Panda will get you a much smaller quote than most other cars. The Picanto is the perfect first car by the way. They are small on the outside but very spacious inside - I'm 6ft 1 and have plenty of room. Good luck!
Young Rapunzel I passed in July so about 3 months. Like most people I learnt in a diesel and adjusting to a smaller petrol engine was a bit of a learning curve. Petrol's are a lot easier to stall so let that clutch out SLOWLY!!! Totally adjusted to it now and it's a nippy little thing and very easy to park which is a big advantage when you've just passed. It's very cheap to run and taking to a mechanic very reliable cars which is why I guess Kia give you the longest warranty of any manufacturer. If there's any negative I would say it's that you tend to feel bumps in the road more than you would in a larger car. But honestly that's the case with all small cars and it's not a big deal. Overall as I said before it's the perfect 1st car :-)
mark199 Thats the best honest review I can get from anyone. I wanted to purchase a Kia picanto domino (automatic) in black next week. I can't wait to get my hands on it. :)
I have got the same year model as in the video (just higher trim level), and i find my picanto really great to drive, though it is true it Can be a bit slog at overtaking and a bit noisy, but hey turn up the music right? 😉 Also i Think that it is okay fun to drive☺️
i am driving it too, the fun obviously comes from the low weight of around 850 kilograms, but if you have driven other cars, you will notice that it is a boring car :)
I have the 2005 model that is now worthless as it has the crankshaft pully bolt manufacturers falt. I paid £700.00 to repair it as kia uk wanted over £2000. 6 months ago that has now come back and will now cost thousands. Please get this checked if you buy a kia as it happens on other ranges too. it has put me off kia for good
Aspiring Aspie I'm 6ft 2 and it's fine for leg room. The back seats will be tighter for a tall person but for short journeys it's ok. The driver and front passenger have tonnes of room.
Saying he should work for Top Gear is stupid. Top Gear is a show and Clarkson, May and Hammond are entertainer while Matt is a true journalist, giving real and good advice on cars.
+Sune Glesner I got one for myself about 2 months ago mine is the 2010 model , all around its a good car engine wise and the fuel usage is fantastic ( my college is pretty far from where I stay ) just check the water pump and the suspensions Before getting one
I would be nervous to recline that back seat in a highway, less space between the lorry coming behind your car and your passenger...once traveled in an old Geo Metro (Suzuki Swift), which was underpowered, and on a hill it refused to continue. The memory of turning around and seeing a big truck centimeters away from your back still haunts me today, lol...
o my god mat watson doesnt complaing about the cheap plastic i can already hear hom ssaying hmm although this car is spacious, generous kneeroom good enough headroom, buut, cheap plastics hear, cheap plastics theea, hmm coudve done better
The interior space and the backseat movements are incredibly impressive for a car of this size

Imagine if top gear and carbuyer uk worked togther? The sense and polish of Mat watson and the comedy and fun of top gear!

yes, me too. I watched this , because I thought it was for the 04 model.
This is one of the most decent city cars ever made, i have driven others and they are a bunch of crap
How tall are you ? I hear that taller drivers struggle with leg room

1 or 2 backlights?
Kia Picanto looks like a Suzuki Alto 800 brother
Anyway, let’s move on to the front. Give us a hand.
