I've watched a lot of Chamath stuff. He's incredibly eloquent and I love listening to him speak. But I'm starting to question whether he's the real deal. 1) He flips positions too much. From the "I'm not your slave", to the excoriation of FB and Zuck, to his "let the banks and hedge funds get wiped out" comments last year -- I saw a lot of promise in him. Now he flips to saying "I think hedge funds are necessary" and "I collect a 30% carried interest no hurdle rate, because I think performance matters", it doesn't seem like he practices what he preaches. And then you hear about the complaints investors and employees in Social Capital had, and the guy just comes off as unreliable, and maybe even insincere. 2) He's absolutely running for politics at some point. You can tell now that his phrasing is so much more curated. He's always done a lot of media appearances, but it seems to have ticked up recently and gotten more political. You see him blasting china on lithium ion... which has nothing to do with climate change but everything to do with politics. If I were to guess, I think for him having grown up poor, the money did mean a lot at one point (you can see it in one of his earlier videos "in the absence of capital, you are irrelevant"). Now that he has the money, it's not important. What he wants now is power. Hopefully he's the real deal and does something good with that power.

everything except for "climate change" as it is being used as an additional tax burden and cost to the little guy. governments require "green tech" so it makes sense those investments are wise but green energy does not solve climate change (you need fossil fuels to build, maintain and run green) nor is it good for the environment (entire flocks of birds are killed by windmills since they are in their flight path). the earth's climate is controlled by the sun which is why other planets are undergoing changes as well.

It must also frustrate him at least a little, maybe hes already internalized that logic of.. no point putting effort into things that you can't change. What you can change is yourself, what you think and what you choose. Everything else is the control illusion that gets us so wound up and easily emotional or agitated. Using selective honesty to admit to having flaws or biases isn’t necessarily the same as being able to be objective about what they really are
@@WisdomIsPrecious I think to get to be that successful you need to be pretty objective about what your flaws and biases are.
Whether or not these become public or as you said a select few that make for good PR is another matter.
But even to say that on mainstream media at all is head and shoulders above so many others in the financial world at the moment, don't you think?

Chamath is as genuine as a blockchain . He doesn’t sound political and it’s time California chooses him as a Governor and we choose his bets to make money.

"He doesn't sound political". Except when he called to remove the current Governor and put up a campaign page.

I like this comment.
@Jimmy Needmore *incredibly.
Sometimes Bloomberg does VERY WELL, and this is one of those times.
Thank you for the great content, and the awesome guest!
Venturebros. I totally feel like so many people are very wishy washy, I am to one day I want to go for a walk but the next day I want to eat 5 ding dongs, I doing my best to drop weight why I relate to losing weight but my brain switch on me. 50 minutes of gold from Chamath right there. Great interview.
What a great guy, using the market for social causes. He is calm, intelligent, and using his wealth for the greater good!
More like a piece of shit
He “supported” the cause so ppl would buy more, just to make some profits, sell, leave them holding the bags & then justify it by donating the money to some shitty charity he’s linked to
11:35 "Inequality and climate change" means he want everybody to be equally poor, and use the climate change hoax to control every aspect of your life, starting by your freedom of movement and ownership.
But of course, he'll always be rich

What I like about this interview is you can really see his attitude and behavior on his answers, not exactly what he's saying. It's his mindset and beliefs that separate him from a regular investor.
Is this guy what you would call a socialist or what?
Chamath's clarity of thought is impressive. He is an enlightened billionaire.
No he's not, he's pandering, and he's got people like you hook, line, and sinker.
What an amazing interview! Such an insight into what drives him and his investment philosophy..

Great Interview !!....Boy, I have alot to THINK about......Thank you....
Chamath is too honest for his own good. Compared to the typical Wall Street types, he’s a breath of fresh air, and compared to the typical billionaire, he’s not out of touch with reality
I think his honesty is his strength - he embarrasses his ill-informed and increasingly out of date competition, ^oo^

I'll say that Chamath's SPAC offerings are remarkably opaque about some of the terms such as how the Warrants work specifically.
Mr. Palihapitiya’s most striking quality is his calm fearless approach to first principles and transparency. It is a world view that distinguishes him from contemporaries that thrive on stealth as an advantage and fear as a motivator.

With Chamath, really, all one has to do is look at his social media accounts to realize this interview was aimed at placating the uber wealthy types. everything except for "climate change" as it is being used as an additional tax burden and cost to the little guy. governments require "green tech" so it makes sense those investments are wise but green energy does not solve climate change (you need fossil fuels to build, maintain and run green) nor is it good for the environment (entire flocks of birds are killed by windmills since they are in their flight path). the earth's climate is controlled by the sun which is why other planets are undergoing changes as well.
