I just saw your ring neck drake #2 video and it looks like you have already done what I described below in an even better way then what I was imagining. right on, looks great!
I think I might try putting down a more monochromatic base down first.....? Darker green/black at the base of the neck up to a slightly lighter green at the top of the head. Maybe even do a glaze, with a wipe off technique, so you can really leave a darker color in the nice recesses between the feathers. After that, then hit it with a softer (almost dry) application of pearl and the very end. Kind of like a color key so your not really getting the color from the pearl. The pearly is more of a highlight. I'm thinking that might give you more control of the glitz so it does not come out looking too Las Vegas. Since you are checking out the Createx, their UVLS clears (4050 Gloss, 4051 Satin, 4052 Matte, 4053 high gloss) are all awesome. Very very durable. I would try the satin and when it is cured you could hand polish it to get more of a lustre on the tops of the feathers. The Matte is really matte. Durable enough for automotive they say. Judging from what the lowrider painters say, there always seems to be alot of problems with "stacking" pearls and metallics. A thin film without much reduction seems to give the cleanest effect. What I'm writing is 80% theory so don't take me too seriously. Really enjoyed your video. Thanks!
Thanks for the video I've been painting decoys. (Gunner) and I use createx paints pretty much resemble yours, lacking the blue at the back of head...of course mine are a couple of notches below yours but my hunting partners say they look good
Great video Tom, thanks for sharing. Createx carry iridescent paint as well. I wonder if they would work better and not be so metallic in finish. Just a thougt?
I have been using Mission Models iridescent model paint Tom, they are about $3 for a 30ml bottle. You need the mix the paint with their liquid medium for maximum durability. I wouldn’t say they are good or bad as I am not an expert but they just do the trick for me. Thank you for the video. 🙏🦆👋🏻
Tom I tried Artme iridescent airbrush paint from Amazon on a mermaid cutout for a float. The paint is reasonably inexpensive but I was happy with the results. The package came with 12 colors but the colors were perfect what I needed it for.
Hey Tom, I've sent a link to Jo sonja's site. I guess it didn't work. anyways, it's a kit of 14 colors for 102.00, they are a new product call premium pearlescent paint that there offering.
How good they are, I have know idea. Being that jo sonja made chroma paints, maybe there pigments used in chroma are being used in there premium pearlescent paints. Just my thoughts.

Thanks Gary! I haven’t sampled other Createx offerings but food for thought. I have some Jo Sonja on the way to take a look at that.
I have used Golden Fluid Acrylics Interference and Iridescent colours with successs.
Thanks very much Wayne!

Thanks for sharing that Chris. Will check those out.
Liquitex makes an iridescent medium that can be used as a base for mixing any color and works pretty well.
Thanks for the suggestion!

Thanks Daniel. I was able to order a few individual colors from the Jo Sonja web site to give it a try. I appreciate the suggestion!
