Elmore Leonard wrote so many entertaining westerns; he wrote them before he got into crime, and his crime novels are a lot like modern-day westerns. Happy reading.
Great video. I'll be participating for the first time. I found a used copy (in great condition) of The Complete Western Short Stories by Elmore Leonard so I'll definitely be reading some of those. The Ox-Bow Incident and Shane are also on my list to read.
Looks fab. I bought a job lot of Louis L’Amour recently just for this occasion. Didn’t realise Zane Grey also wrote baseball books so plan to read him for summer of sport as well
Love the intro Greg! I will definitely read some Louis L'Amour for this event. I have The Haunted Mesa which will do quite nicely. I might try and track down some naughty, trashy western in our bookstore.
The Gunsmith series by J.R. Roberts, The Lone Arm series by Tabor Evans, and Lone Star by Wesley Ellis are all very naughty. Get the early books in the series. Someone said the later books are more tame. I haven’t confirmed that.
Great opening sequence, Greg. I actually just ordered a copy of Zane Grey's Riders of the Purple Sage--and I picked that mostly because I used to follow the band, New Riders of the Purple Sage in the 1970's. 😆 But I feel reassured by my choice now that I know that you are planning to read it too! I bought a Louis L'Amour novel too. These will both be firsts for me. I think they should be fun.
As I have said elsewhere, June on the Range is about the only booktube event I still participate in because the books are just so much fun. It channels my inner 6 year old who wants to be a cowboy when he grows up. You selections are some great ones. BTW do we call you The Virginian for the month of June?
The Outlaw returns!
🤠🤠🤠🤠

Real mix of classics and pulp 👌
💯 The Donna Tartt narration of True Grit is fantastic.
This Greg was a yeehaww introduction! Have fun with everyone and all the fun western books 📚
I've had True Grit on my TBR for so long. I've been holding out for a nice secondhand hardcover. Enjoy your westerns!
I was so impressed by True Grit. I loved it.
_True Grit_ will be it. I’ve got spurs that jingle jangle jingle. 🎠🐎
Egads! I don’t need that ear worm.

I hear a lot of good stuff about Leonard’s westerns. I have a novel in the wings. Probably for next year.
I found some vintage Zane Grays in a box of my grandparents old books. I might give this a try! 🤠 ✨🐴
I have only one Zane Gray: The Lone Star Ranger. Pretty good if a bit old fashioned.

I didn’t know he wrote baseball novels either.

Glad you’re joining in. I never read western before BookTube.
@@anotherbibliophilereads Book Tube has definitely expanded my willingness to explore many new genres. It’s been wonderful!

Steve Donahue named me Another Bibliophile Shoots First . But I guess a man can have many names on the range.
