"If he wants to make a super-positive song, nothing wrong with that."
*laughs in Bo Burnham*
"Boy. This song escalated REALLY fast."
I was JUST about to comment about this. I thought to myself "Oh boy..." Really looking forward to him reacting to the rest lol (I paused to comment).
He knew a twist was coming; he's seen Burnham before. He was just playing along at the beginning, although he seemed genuinely surprised at the what the "twist" actually was once Sock-o began his rant.
"honey, you've got a big storm comin"
I was dying when he said that haha
Lol
The song starts out super-educational for kids...and then ends up being super-educational for adults.
facts.
If we actually educated kids it wouldn't need to be new education for adults.
@@TheFhqwhgadsLimit adults are always learning
I feel like it's more teen material. You should have wrestled with all of those ideas before you reach full fledged adult, really.
@@seigeengine You'd be surprised how many grown ass adults haven't.
"The simple narrative taught in every history class
, Is demonstrably false and pedagogically classist"
"oh no"
the oh no had me dying
im eated bal
It was the best.
It's so funny because everyone knows it's true, Lboyd just can't outright agree with it because, well, you know. Controversial LMAO
Same 🤣🤣🤣
Me too
"If he wants to sing a positive song, there's nothing wrong with that"
[1 min later]
"Don't ya know the world is built on blood and genocide and exploitation"
Bo is a genius
"Is this like an education song?" Well, yes and no...
I hadn't heard this one yet, but my first reaction to that comment was.. No.. this is gonna have a twisted twist.
@@TheHighSorcerer There is no "no." Yes, it is an educational song lol
"Keep in mind Bo is the sock guys" that line killed me 😂😂😂
Sentences I never thought I'd hear and make sense
I wonder if he refers to him being the hand in the sock in the video, or Bo being socko in the world (i.e. the suppressed)...
@@1996Pinocchio I think that he is saying that Bo more than likely shares the views of Socko as Socko is seen as the good guy in the song thus Bo (the writer) is taking Socko's side. Not the performer (bo playing the piano)'s side.
Well he is part of the working class and he sees the world with sockos eyes in the perspective of even less priviledged than himself. he is as such priviledged to give his opinions and views that are anti capitalistic a platform by letting socko speak, though hierarchy demands him to silence his subservient sock to obedience when criticising him self as he would be silenced if he directly targeted his superior. it is ingrained in the system that socko names as liberal fascism. . . he is well aware thathe can only go so far critizing the system without getting sockos treatment...
Lmao
LOL I DIED when Socko described where he spends his time when he's not on Bo's hand and you literally went "WHAT happened?" - slight distressed voice break and everything... that is EXACTLY the appropriate reaction to that TURNING POINT moment in 90% of Bo's songs. Perfection in a reaction - as always, sir
I laughed for a straight minute. PERFECTION!
He is a genius
This sock has. Jeez.
i replayed that part so many times hahahah
Me too😭☠️😂
I literally rewatched "Inside" yesterday and thought you'd enjoy this song in particular. The other one is "That Funny Feeling." Great stuff.
Exact same situation, lmao
The whole special is a masterpiece. "Welcome to the Internet" was one of my favorites
Unpaid intern, And Jeff Bezos 1&2 would be interesting to see him react to as well even tho they are tiny. Hence one of the reasons I wanna see him react to the entire special
Everytime I listen to that funny feeling the line "the whole world at your fingertips, the ocean at your door" gets me everytime.
I watched it. Climate change is whack
Even though the sock complied, he was still torn apart because the system is inherently unbalanced towards the interest of those with power.
As it always has been and always will be 🙃
It's the "Oh no's" that get us. Will never get tired of watching people watch Bo for the first time.
I've never seen someone enjoy the RIGHT parts of this song, and for the right reasons.
Loved watching you react to this, he did an astounding job imo. Not a lot of people catch the "comply or die" tie-in at the end.
Well, it's more of a "comply-AND-die" at the end, isn't it?
@@horaspeher3368 Yeah I really like that he pulls the sock off at the end to show that whether you comply or not you still die. Such is the orphan grinder that is capitalism.
@@horaspeher3368 You're right about that
It’s more of like “don’t step out of line or die” tie in
@@749246pin my brother that's what comply means lol
"The sock has bars, bro" is the best thing I've heard this month!!! I know this song so well and really enjoyed watching you realize it wasn't a kid's song and the facts Socko was spittin'. Shit got real, fast.
I love Bo Burnham. He balances post-modernism with cynicism so well in his comedy.
I'd just like to inquire what your understanding of post-modernism is in relation to his songs? I don't know how this comes across, but I'm genuinely curious.
@@RS-fy9hb i don't know why the other person implies postmodernism and cynicism are opposites, because i think bo is extremely postmodern precisely because he's cynical: postmodernism is a cynicism towards metanarratives. i think the best example of his postmodernism is the song where he reacts to himself: he creates a narrative, and then immediately criticizes this narrative, and then he criticizes the criticized narrative... this is a very postmodern construction, because there's no overarching framework that he can refer to to get a sense of grounding, and even the narrative that he's endless self-critical is criticized
what i like about bo is he has these profound moments of postmodern critique while still maintaining a sense of the real, lurking in the background (always mental health, but in "inside" he also constantly comes back to climate change)
Post-post-modernism*
@@snugglydove6846 Or what I think is the more fitting synonym "metamodernism." As you describe @weasel it's the cynicism of post modernism taken to absurdist conclusions in a way that sort of "breaks the fourth wall" or "goes meta" and calls back to wanting a sense of genuine sentiment and invoking the need to synthesize and construct new values from the wreckage.
@@weasel6843 It had me confused as well, and it's why I asked for how he understood it xD.
imo, post-modernism isn't particularly useful, if it wasn't for comedy or as a tool to dissect seemingly established and unshakable values. So using it comically, or in Bo's case of breaking the "norm" or "meta", is indeed quite ingenious.
Your "oh no" right after the classist remark in history class was exactly how I felt the first time hearing him ramp up. Socko's on a tear
I personally recommend "From God's Perspective", "Sad", or "Can't Handle This" from Bo, but there's a whole bunch of great stuff out there.
I think the rest of Inside is probably best watched on your own as part of the entire special, because a lot of the best songs depend on the content of the rest of the special. It's really fantastic stuff, won like three Emmys.
This, but I'd love to see reactions to White Womans Instagram, That Funny Feeling and Problematic!
Also #Deep
Can’t Handle This is one of my favorite. So heart crunching.
Rant is another good one he should do
True but he can also just record the whole special and his reactions in a different kind of format and upload the bits he wants individually. I agree he definitely 100% needs to watch the special from start to finish the first time
"Because my words are transcribed"
UA-cam monetization:
THAAAAAAAT is how the world works! That is how the world works! Say something that we can't sell or sponsor, lose your income for your hours of awesome....and thaaaaaat's how...it works!
This exactly. So many people reacting to this video get this look like they're in danger and it's a perfect illustration of what Bo's saying in the video.
👏👏👏👏
When he paused it and just
“Oh no.”
I actually wheezed so hard, oh my word 😂😂😂
Well, sir, congratulations. You just attracted all the Bo Burnham fans. It’s all you’re gonna react to for the next like six months. Your audience is about to explode.
Bo is a genius. That is all. ‘Inside’ is one of the greatest pieces of art made this century.
God I love everyone’s first reaction to this song. It’s so incredible. The dichotomy between Bo and the sock is *chefs kiss*
Anything from Inside is incredible! I would actually suggest a 2-parter. It's a song from his penultimate special and a song from his latest special that kinda serve like bookends to each other thematically:
1. Can't Handle This (Kanye Rant)
2. All Eyes on Me.
but other hits:
Welcome to the Internet
White Woman's Instagram
Country Song
This! Exactly this.
He already did Welcome to the internet.
Yes, watching the Kanye Rant and then All Eyes on Me is definitely the way to go.
He already did all eyes on me
@@SheanaOBrien1985 He hadn't when I posted this last week.
"is this an educational video" oh yes. pay attention :D
"Oh no bro." - the proper response. lol. This whole special is amazing.
Watching Bo progress from a kid doing UA-cam videos in his room to making this work of art show “Inside” has been amazing. Me and my husband went to his last live show and had the best time. Enjoying watching all his stuff so much.
“This is a super positive song about the world for kids! I think I’ll show this to my 5 year old!”
Me: slowly reaches for my popcorn “this will be interesting.”
Ah, Bo, I can always count on you to take things to their twisted conclusion. I haven't heard this one before but I was still waiting with held breath for 'the turn', that moment when you see a reactor hit that point in a Bo Burnham song. I love his dark humor.
You like Bo and haven't heard this song? Go watch "Inside" RIGHT NOW!
What a delightful descent into madness and depression the entire special is. Inside was filmed by Bo alone in his home during the early days of the pandemic and was his first stage up style special in years. I recommend you watch it in full as one session
This is probably the closest thing from Bo on Inside to what originally made him blow up, speaking about very serious political topics in a more zany manner that kind of blindsides you
Bo is actually such a creative dude. Been following him since his early youtube days and love to see people discovering him and going through all of his stuff online
me too man. Watching his glow up makes me so happy
I would reccomend "from gods perspective" or "healing the world with comedy" but anything from bo is amazing
Seeing people react to this song for the first time is always a treat 😭🤣
Yep, this song is basically the working class vs mega corps keeping us in line when we tell them how we feel. Bo asking the sock how he can help is not to actually help, it's just a PR stunt to make them look better. Crazy song... the special is one of the best things I have seen in forever.
THE BEST reaction I've seen to this song yet! Perfection, my good sir!
This piece is so under the radar, but it's by far the most bold and brilliant that I have ever heard from him.
The thumbs-up and point to the camera at 5:30 gives me so much life
OMG first time hearing this ' song ' and I have to say ... that was F-ING brilliant !!!
This is the bo burnham we were hoping you'd see back when you first started on his earlier stuff. The man is so damn good.
When you watched the first video excerpt from Bo Burnham's "Inside" special... I commented that you really should watch the whole thing, yourself, not to react to for a video, but just for your own personal experience. It is a work of art that you are robbed of properly and fully appreciating by experiencing it initially all clipped up like this. I re-iterate, please watch the whole thing, from start to finish, without distractions. You will appreciate it immensely, I promise.
As soon as I heard "If he wants to make a super-positive song" I went to get a drink and settle in, because I couldn't wait to see your reaction.
Bo is one of the few who speaks the truth, in the wonderful guise of comedy!
Welcome to the internet is an absolute must listen to by him, its probably his biggest song. An underrated favorite of mine is RANT
omg yes! I love Rant as well.
Fun fact. Bo Burnham is writing the music for the upcoming Sesame Street movie.
I need Oscar the Grouch dropping f-bombs.
@@ThornForTheWynn or H-bombs, since he has his own world that almost certainly has an army.
@@ThornForTheWynn Ever seen the Joker parody trailer GROUCH by SNL? Look it up, it's insanely brilliant.
The entire of bo burnham "inside" is great and worth a watch. If not for the channel just for your own entertainment. For that matter his earlier stuff is also pretty good. Especially the song at the end of one of them where he shares his feelings and emotions of being a celebrity/entertainer, it truely is a window into the guts soul. Anyway takecare fella and regards.
This is more than a song, its a whole performance. Watch Bo's reactions when Socko is talking. its great.
He wrote the music and lyrics for the Sesame Street movie that is coming out sometime this year.
Also, this special got nominated for 6 emmys and he won 3 ... It's worth a watch. Best if you watch it from start to finish with all the monologues and stuff between songs.
😂😂😂
I love Bo's 'comedy.' Your reactions here and trying to guess at your inner monologue the moment you catch the bar... Also highly entertaining.
It’s great man. This song works because all of the actual knowledge comes from an intimate object. Kind of like how South Park gets away with their delivery because it’s through the scope of “innocent” children. Love it. We’ve gotta get creative to talk about real issues… 😶
I Google "how the world works reaction" and gets a 1 min old result from a channel I know. That's pretty perfect!
I'm so happy you reacted to this, I knew you would be one of those guys who'd fully appreciate it. Respect!
@6:25 is exactly where he just broke from finally hearing someone say out loud what he's wondered for years.
That was definitely the best moment in this reaction! 🤣🤣🤣
this was the first time that i have seen your channel. Being a Bo fan, it was a pleasure watching you take the journey through this song, and the three levels of how the "world works". To see your reaction made me an instant fan of yours. I liked, subscribed, and posted your video on Twitter. While your fans are seeing Bo for the first time, Bo fans get to see your work as well. Exposing ourselves to many varying viewpoints, listening to each other's concerns and interests, and accepting others for who they are should be how the world works. thanks for the work you do and the energy that you put out there.
I've watched a lot of your reactions and I feel this has been the most expressive you have been and I loved it. I feel like I understand you better than I have. the simple fact that you touched on "comply or die" I loved it.
i stumbled on your channel from another bo burnham video and watching you listen and react to this song as it escalates has been a pure delight. keep it up bud.
I watched this video 8 times, sent it to all my friends, and now I'm here watching reactions. I fucking love that this exists.
Thank you for this one in particular man, my reaction to this song was about the same as yours, when I heard it the first time. Bo is simply amazing and the song right here is a prime example of his genious. The depth of what is being "said" here is ridiculous. The fact the he is both the sock and the "elites" Socko is referring to, the statements made, the power dynamic, all this gets so deep, that it continues to just blow my mind.
Keep up your awesome work, sir! You are much appreciated!
Absolutely All Eyes On Me and That Funny Feeling by Bo, this most recent special they came from is the only media I can ever remember seeking out people's reactions to, I wouldn't have known THIS content existed if it wasn't for Bo.
Spread this man
You need to react to more Bo!! PLEASE!
That very quiet "Oh no..." was priceless by the way
This was probably my favorite reaction of yours because it was clearly shocking you over and over again throughout lol. Good stuff! Honestly, that whole special "Inside" is great and I'd love to see you react to all of it.
I've watched this special 3x and it's still gets me in my feelings. Emotional rollercoaster.
I love your reaction to this. I've been obsessed with Inside. The metaphor of him getting the sock to comply is just so impactful
“He just wants to write a good happy song for kids”
Oh boy oh boy, this is gonna be good
for great rapping, check out his "Rant" or "words words words" , for good songs, check out "All Eyes On Me" or "Can't Handle This"
I love Bo! I've been a huge fan since he started out as a goofy kid here on UA-cam. His music has aged well and his messages really pack a punch! I definitely share this song with everyone that'll listen lol! He's healing the world with comedy!
I suggest his song "Straight White Man"
This is by far the best reaction to this song I've seen so far. I laughed so hard I think I woke up my neighbours. Please, PLEASE spread the word! Bo is a genius, and the world desperately needs more people like him.
This is the first reaction I've seen from you, so I don't know if you're familiar with Bo's work, but I suggest "Welcome to the internet" from this same special, it works without context. The older stuff kinda ties together, but other random songs could be "Country song" and "From God's perspective". I also love "Left brain, right brain" and "Lower your expectations".
The genuine positivity toward the beginning of the song was hilarious as a viewing, knowing what was coming up lmao. Loved this.
This is my favorite video of yours, it’s the only one I watch multiple times, the way you say “oh no, bro” sends me every time
Don't have your wife watch the song, just watch the full netflix special. He wrote and filmed the whole thing by himself in his room over quarantine and it's really good.
I have watched this particular reaction at least twice a week now. The “what happened?!” And “oh no bro” are just spot on! This song is crazy and we were not ready.
Easily the funniest reaction video I've seen. I love how he at some parts looks around the room like he's looking for a way out of watching this and is genuinely confused and worried for what he is experiencing
Every single piece of Bo Burnham content it’s absolutely worth it! if it has Bo Burnham’s name on it absolutely introspective and absurdly intellectual. he has been ahead of his time for the last decade words cannot describe how genius this man is I hope a lot of people get to realize how bo has changed the way we view things
When taken with the video of him talking to other comedians about his inspiration from this and the fact the the sock was originally a black sock adds something to it.
I love seeing you break when you laugh or are taken aback. Much respect!
This song is beyond genius. Bo's intellect and insight is beyond underrated man, and the way he demonstrated the truth in this funnily tragic musical way parodying a kid's song style is its own genius as well.
Right after getting the sock to comply, he still takes him off anyway demonstrating the sock's complete lack of choice in the matter, just that he wants his compliance because of his ego's thirst for power, when he can just kill him off (or send him back to the suspended liminal space he was in lol) any time he wanted. Not to mention how throughout the sock's rant he was just smiling and nodding like a psychopath and being like, "Oh how cute, this sock thinks it can make a difference." This is exactly how the elite look at regular people.
The fact that this was allowed on Netflix, a major corporation that the song practically criticizes as part of the sock's rant, is sort of like Bo allowing the sock to talk knowing it won't make a difference anyway.
"If he wants to make a super-positive song, nothing wrong with that"
Sweet summer child.
You always give such great takes on things. Definitely love Both Burnham, its crazy how I discovered him back in like 2009 and just seeing his growth as a comedian, artist, and person since then. Some of his songs are just funny to be funny, but a lot touch on so many deeper issues and topics its great.
Some of my favorites are
"Girl (High School Party)" this is actually the very first song I heard from him. It was previewed in a commercial for his comedy special and it so offensive but funny and I think it being my first is why I love it so much.
"Words, Words, Words" has such great wordplay its insane.
"Rant" criticizes the church and I have mixed view on it being a Christian myself, but he points out some legit flaws and things we just ignore or cover up.
"Nerds" is just such a kind song when you realize the intention behind it.
And This song from inside is on my list too for the straight facts he spits and the clever delivery of it and its deeper themes.
I've watched this reaction many times, and just watched it again. One of my favorite videos on UA-cam.
More Bo is always welcome.
Hope you have a good day too
Inside by Bo Burnham is easily the best thing on Netflix in the last 3 or 4 years at least. Seriously everyone go watch it, truly an experience
omg mrB
you had me crying hysterically
if i didnt know your work as well as i do
i would think you and bo calabed
for how the world works 2
pshhhh this was fantastic ty
Bonus for using the word liminal...
Haven't watched Bo Burnham in a while but he definitely leveled up .. Lol hilarious
Dude, your reactions to Bo is epic! I’ve watched this song a bunch of times and you have the absolute best reactions to this song. Please react to more Bo!
Glad you decided to do this one. This is one of my absolute favorites.
The awkward silence and then "oh no... let's get it" had me DYING!!!!!
I love that first tiny little "Oh no."
I'd love to see you react to a lot more of his stuff, but honestly "Inside", the special that this is from, should be seen as a whole as well
Yes! Thank you, for introducing this to me.
I would honestly say watch Inside, the special this is from, from start to finish. Not even for your channel or to react publicly but to experience this in context. It's a work worth appreciating as a whole.
Him looking at the camera after socko starts singing is beyond hilarious 🤣 I believe that he had no idea what this song was gonna be going in.
I love Bo Burnham so much. He is such an intelligent and insightful guy. I actually ain’t this song to my baby.
I have seen several of your reactions and this is by far the best reaction.
Bo is a genius! Check his YT channel, he even has at least 1 full show, titled "inside", it's worth watching the whole thing, just beware of the language. He really makes you think, and also laugh! 🤯😍
That first "what happened?!" 🤣🤣
I love Bo. His work is hilarious and thought provoking. Check out "Problematic" from Inside. "Can't Handle This" is indescribably amazing.
"Country Song" is a good one, too. Literally all of his songs are worth a react. I'd definitely recommend watching his full specials.
You are the most precious person alive. Bo burnham is a comic that specializes in songs with a twist. This has made my day 😂
Bo is literally a musical and comedic genius. So glad hes finally getting the dues he deserves.
Inside is such a perfect comedy special. I mean it came out in the middle of a pandemic where everyone was stuck inside. The first time I watched it, I was in awe. Then I watched it the next day, and I think the next day. I've seen it like 10 times and listened to the album waay too much. Bo is the man stoked you found it.
Loved this song so much from Comrade Bo. Cracks me up every time. Lol
Watching your slowly escalating breakdown as the song progressed was the most entertaining thing I've seen in a while...
Yup, that's Bo. Yo.
I love this reaction, so much! ❤️😅👏🏼 You were amazing! 😅🤣😭 Great song!
Im still reeling from how good this song is. How the ones who uphld the status quo have a romanticised idealised undertaking of how the world works - that we work together and have our place and nothing needs to change.
Just noticed also that it seems crazy that Socko turns up and essentially says "I'm in constant existential pain" and Bo, an allegory for the powers that uphold the system, completely ignores this admission to continue the song.
This song is so fucking cool and I LOVE reactions who get it and the humour and the commentary aa I'm so glad to see you reacting to it dude!
I'm not usually a fan of reaction videos but this is gold - when Socko starts in and he just goes "..oh no"
