In case people didn't watch to the very end, 8.0 has been released. Huge thank you to the AOTR team.
I am so excited for this! Not even RJ's Mod created such an awe-inspiring interpretation of the Rhun faction. I love the use of whatever that canine is. Probably it's use will be analogous to the Molossian War Dog. (look up that dog breed's history in warfare!). And as such, there appears to be both a far eastern influence on the mod teams redesign of Rhun, as well as a Mediterranean one. Specifically military looks from the near east, and Anatolia. That being said, I love the inclusion of gunpowder and rocketry. I.e. The siege units seen there. According to Tolkien in one of his letters, Saruman learned about "black powder" when he journeyed with the Blue Wizards to the far east in search of Sauron. And thus applied this knowledge when waging war against Rohan. So lore-wise it makes sense for Rhun. Rhun worshipped Melkor, as well as holding dragon and wyrms in high regard. So having the power of a dragon in the form of a rocket, or early cannon would make sense. Historically, cannon that looked very similar to the one depicted here were in use in medieval Europe as early as the late 13th century. Though they would have been primitive, and extremely expensive. Historians estimate that there were fewer than 50 in Europe at the time. But they still existed. As per rockets. No power in Europe had rockets until the modern era (19th century). However, the Chinese had them as early at 800c.e, if not earlier. Though their destructive capability were not that large. They were mainly a form of psychological warfare.
I love the unit designs too! And the buildings. It all seems to be influenced by medieval Chinese architecture, and Persian/Sassanid/Bactrian/Armenian soldiery from the Alexandrine Successor states, to 5-6th Century Persia. The diversity of the units, and buildings is clearly a work of art and inspired creativity! I will definitely use Worldbuilder & the map script to import this adventure faction into other maps within the Rhun, and Iron Hills regions!
That being said. I'm not going to be using any Khandish or Rhunic units whilst playing as Mordor. As now, with the adventure factions, we can truly simulate almost every minor faction in Middle Earth. One question, though, I know one of the developers said that Dunland is their favorite faction, and if the game allowed for more than 11 factions, you guys would make Dunland into it's own. Is there going to be a Dunland Adventure map? Because Dunland needs just as much love as Rhun for an adventure faction.

@@AgeoftheRingModTeam some of them Rhûninc and Khandish buildings and armor look almost exactly like Asian kind, wouldn't you say or think so by any chance or all means. Like....China, Korea, Mongolia or Japan or something?

Ive played a lot of mods but this one has the best Rhun faction ive ever seen! The voice acting, the lore, the artillery. Pure brilliance. Im going to see how yall did Harad now

Why does no one in these showcase videos show the fortress with towers added? It'd be cool to see how they are designed and look like with the other fortress upgrades.
Witch king model is really cool too, I’d say that probably his attack animation was better before but still a great improvement on him overall.

These guys worked a lot to give us this for free. There is a lot to enjoy from this mod, there is already a ton of content. They need a lot of time to make another campaign, and if they're going to make it, we're not going to play it soon. We should be grateful for this, not asking for more.

One Thing embarrass me, guys... Forgive me for the ignorance, but... Why "Rhun" seems with so "extrem east" architecture motices? I mean, I don't know too much about the books but, they are more like Persians, no? Why all this "Chinese" aspect? (It's an honest question, guys.)
