Yes, selling any faulty product without being responsible for it is a serious business issue and it can compromise the relationship with existing and future clients. No one would be sarcastic about it, if the wasted money were their.
Yeah, I saw another person do a beautiful look with this and they said the formula was rather dry and not overly emollient, they had only purchased it within the last few months. I suspected they changed the formula then. Why is it so hard for these brands to simply admit to a product not working as intended and they made a correction? It makes brands look better when they acknowledge mistakes or missteps and *correct them.*
Thank you for talking about this, I would be so upset if I was one of the people who got the unusable eyeshadows and just got no explanation or refund or some other sort of resolution. And it’s especially weird because the multichromes in the palettes are actually pretty good (I have both xmas palettes and the Hela palette) but they’re not really squishy, so I wonder why they went with a different formulation with the singles. I didn’t try any of their singles but I’m kinda turned off from the brand after the way they’ve been handling.. or not handling… their customer service. Pretty weird. I feel like some people ignore stuff like that especially when they’re worried about getting PR from certain brands so they don’t address issues like this. I’m glad you’re always here to tell us what you really think, even if someone sends you PR you always keep it real. You are so valued in this community!! You’re the best, girl!! ❤
Their palettes have issues too. I assume you got lucky getting good batches but it is easy to find people who buy the same palettes and get crappy shimmers... Like me. I got the Xmas palettes and the shimmers are really inconsistent.
I love how completely honest you are when reviewing shadows. So many people are shilling for OE & I just don’t think they are that great. A lot of their shadows hard pan the very first time they are used & are so difficult to pick up. There’s so many better formulas out there than they have ❤️
Same! I even received palettes with already hard panned and also dried out shimmers 😢 the Annette Giant Wolves had 2 absolutely horrible shimmers and the mattes in that weren't amazing either... They felt dry and rough. Then I also received these super wet squishy shades that crease like heck once you get them on the eye
I bought Leon when it launched, and mine was really bad 😅 reached out twice to the brand's customer service and never got a response. Super disappointing. Especially as my friend reached out asking when they'd restock a product, and got an answer after 20minutes.
Hmm I wonder if some how you email is going DIRECT TO THEIR SPAM FOLDER?? I JUST found out 3 weeks ago my father's lawyer I thought the ass hole was ignoring my emails called office and long story short someone emailed me CC the lawyer I waited an hour checked my DAMN SPAM and called lawyers office telling them I never got email but there is a way that some companies to protect them emails go to spam which NEVER GETS CHECKED
@michellerocco5073 I know of several others who reached out via email to them and were also ignored, so sadly, I don't think this is the case here. I would also imagine customer service emails would routinely check spam folder! :/

Oh & I've been tagging them in posts discussing my issues over the years. I've DM'd them repeatedly, emailed dozens of times & have NEVER received any response. Ever. I keep purchasing like a 🤡 because I'm a sucker for their packaging & those mattes!!
It's so interesting because I've heard the same critiques since the initial launch! I picked up four (including Leon) & none of mine are squishy or smell bad (that was another complaint) nor have any of mine gotten wet or gummy but I have seen this repeatedly throughout the community, esp over on the gram. I have been saying for years upon years that oe needs to reformulate all of their shimmers! Their matte formula is beautiful but the shimmers in my experience are always either hard panning immediately, crumbly, hard pressed or just lackluster! I really wish I had taken ss over the years of their formula because I swear the shimmer formula has continued to change & evolve over time. The absolute best shimmer formula they ever did was in the og solmane (except that weird smelly black shade in the bottom right corner 😅) & the og Alva palettes! Since then they have been sooo hit or miss! 🫣
Same! I have those older palettes and they seemed more consistent. I think more creators should call this out especially as the brand clearly doesn't care if customers get crappy products
I appreciate you doing this comparison video. Tbh I always think that formulas change all the time because ingredients are getting harder to source and the cost goes up all the time. It’s why so many launches are limited edition, because brands can’t afford to keep making these products. It’s possible that the warehouse climate as well as the packaging materials could influence the formula, as well, but that’s not something brands typically study since they’re usually having orders fulfilled by another vendor.
Lmao! YES!! I’m always so excited for multichromes! Even tho I probably have almost every variation of shade there is! It’s frustrating tho when they don’t work the way you thought they would! Our queen is here to save the rest of us some coin!
Absolutely! And they shouldn’t even have it marked and a multichrome bc it’s clearly not. I always find it disappointing when they are marked like that in any brand being a duochrome
Pausing early and commenting so I don't forget: My Ingrid was also squishy, if memory serves, but not quite as much as yours. It's worth noting, though, that it's a dead on dupe for Elf Wish from one of their holiday palettes. I literally just swatched it this morning lol.
I purchased Leon after a restock and it’s a dry but nice formula. I just realized it could be a “dupe the vibe” for the crimson shade in the new Mothership palette.
I only bought "Robert" (and it was not as beautiful as I expected), but like many others I'm not comfortable buying from people who can't take responsibility for selling a bad product no matter how many people told them. We gave them good money.
I missed the initial launch just trying to be a little frugal, and Leon was at the top of my list bc finding a rich red duochrome like that I think is rare (and this shade is 100% a DC...the fact that they literally list it as a MC on their site and only mention 2 shift colors is mind-boggling to me 😂). I am relieved I didn't splurge for the initial launch with all the complaints I've seen. Thx for the comparison, I think I will pick this one up finally the next time I place an order!!
this (sticky oily)is what my experience was with adept eyeshadows especially the purple in the heather austine palette and they crease on me fast - I got my Leon shade a few months ago so way after the first launch and it still creases soooo fast.. It is so beautiful though :(( Adept shimmers/mulitchromes, oden's eye singles and all of natasha denona's creamy eyeshadow formula - these don't have the wet/oily/sticky feeling but they crease
Thank you for this review content. I ended up not buying Leon from the original release - will probably wait for a while. Such a bummer because the color is soooooo beautiful.
Picked up Leon on the first restock and mine is ever so slightly squishy. It's a fussy formula for me and will crease within 30 minutes over every eye primer I own except MAC Prep + Prime.
I got the multichrome bundle when the launch dropped and im very happy with all the shades. Im didnt know about inconsistencies, very surprised:/ i was lucky i guess
The movement in the shadows reminds me of that non-drying play sand. Please could you let me know what eye primer or base you use? I find all of mine crease and I too have oily hooded lids.
So happy I bought this on restock, it's a beautiful shadow and a pretty rare shade (a lot of red metallics/shimmers tend to pull too pink and this one is true red), but the whole situation around the single shadows is just so unpleasant. I do hope they would also address the hard-panning on shimmers in their pallettes as well.
Leon is a really pretty shade, or it's would be if it did not separate like that. OE'S single formulas are... unhinged. I use plurals because the ingredients lists vary way too much between each shade to be variations of same formula. I know that it is common and necessary for formula to be adjusted depending on pigments used, but some of these are just... I struggle to understand the logic. Squishy shades have 'mineral oil' listed in order that correlates very well. One of squishiest shades has is listed as 3rd ingredient and that is ridiculous for a pressed shadow. It is not the easiest ingredient to QC, but I think majority of variation between shades is due to variance in formula. I would suggest screenshot ingredients lists of shadows you might want to repurchase and see when/if they change. It is possible for them to tweak formula without lists changing, but if they do then you will know for sure.
I got 4 shades from that launch and they’re all very similar, although in swatch videos they’d looked really different. I wonder if not only texture but color needed way more QC. It turned me off this brand big time. 😢
Ah that’s so disappointing not that formulating wasn’t right as that can happen but that never got back to customers about the problems they were having I love Odens Eye as a brand I never got the single shadows though but I own most of the palettes hopefully they sort this out pronto
i didn’t get to buy leon because it was sold out, but i did have a huge issues with a couple of my shades, but haven’t heard back from anyone… and it’s been months.
I'm curious to know if the brand has mentioned or address the situation at all? 🤔 I did order Leon separately when I ordered the mystery box. I haven't yet dug into it however I'm going to do that just so that I can see what the difference is between some of the other single shadows I received. I sure hope that I don't have these problems because I'm not a makeup artist by any means. Just and average girl that loves shifty, shimmery eyeshadows. Really hope that there's not a huge problem. It would be a major letdown. I don't have oily lids but a lot of creases. 🥺
Thanks hun. It has been my experience with Odin's eye customer service that they're not quick to respond to order to address problems. Shame really. Because their products on the whole as a general are in my opinion good. To wish they would improve their customer service.
OE has continuous issues with all their shimmers 🙄for every release you find people who got hard panned or dried out shadows that are difficult to use, have crazy fall out or also aren't shiny at all. I'm really over this nonsense! Most palettes have been a disappointment because I always seem to get the crappy batches
I purchased some of the single shadows just a few months ago, and just had to get rid of 4 of them because the formula changed and they were awful. I'll never buy from OE ever again.
Very disappointing, I’ve been loving this brand but this launch was a flop. They need to make a public statement and refund their consumers/ replace with improved product. I’ll stay away from this product but will still purchase their palettes. Let’s see what they do for Christmas…
