My father work for the council and the 60s and they were digging to put the sewage in, by hand in The Gap. He said they were pulling up big chunks of gold but the foreman said it was just fool's gold. I said to my father why didn't you put a couple of chunks in your pocket, will it be an interesting to look at. cheers Graham.

They were panning one once nuggets from Fish Creek at the gap in the 1840s.
