I have the same headcanon about those fetch quests. Any hunter will tell you that the way you kill something and what you use will determine what and how much you get from it. Killing a rabbit with buckshot will ruin most of the meat.

I just know the thing. Kind of like (Well I'm assuming anyway) people just intuitively know that 2+2 is 4, if that makes any sense.

It also feels unreal to describe as it's like textual info about what was there, except you don't see anything, just understand the concepts. But you could sort of super vaguely draw some outlines on paper by logic and/or draw super-basic alternative with some more vivid memory - imagine a page of text with washed away tint so you cannot read the descriptions - only every other detail (mostly few and large/iconic) you remember and it gets more washed out, losing details as time pass. At least to me. I think that's also why my memory is often so shit - I cannot magically pop past experiences back in and/or relive the most beautiful/unique moments of life. ; _ ;

Myself and my mother / aunt have aphantasia. You have essentially a mostly blank / black minds eye. However, through image streaming (life long practice) those with aphantasia can picture some things in low detail. For me, I'm good with producing ghostly whisps of silver (dancing impermanent mannequins) that I use for choreography / fightography / shadow boxing / film / art ect
That and having to go back to killing same mobs for another drop for another quest. Or just to kill x number for no apparent reason. Can't remember how much wow had those but considering they were "core game play loop" for a lot mmos, I'm sure they were in wow too. Just kill 10 mobs and drag their bleeding carcases to the NPC, they can chop off the parts they want. :p
MMOs before WoW just gave you a single quest per field of mobs, with the next quest and field being 3-4 levels highers. WoW's grind quests at least gave some sense of purpose and direction to the mob grinding and were considered a great improvement back then.
re. drop rates, that generally is the in-universe explanation for them. Gear and body parts get too damaged in the fight to be usable, similar to how some games have damaged/worn items as the bottom tier of gear.
If WoW wasnt subscription based i would have gotten sucked into it as a kid I got myself to level 20, 2 times, because thats the max level for free trial character, used to be at least
I think this would work better by showing the prompts after the builds. It would let them see and guess what was being represented, then you see what it's actually meant to be. It would be a better indication of how good the build is.

Honestly, Briony's Koroks are great - but if she used lilypads, the leaves would lay flat perfectly! That's clever to use the leaves in an item frame though! Edit: The health potion top up before the final boss, Briony is amazing at the small details lol

Loot % was always my pet peeve with WoW. It makes no fucking sense killing 50 murlocs for 10 scaly patches, or 30 goretusks for 3 snouts.
