Thanks for checking out our videos. The phrase "Run Steep Get High" was coined on a training run in Silveron, Colorado one of my favorite places in the world to run. We hope to inspire you to reach for that higher peak and goal in life by living "The Steep Life"!

Jamil Coury is an ultra runner, entrepreneur and filmmaker based out of Phoenix, Arizona. He is founder and CEO of Aravaipa Running, a trail and ultra events business that holds over thirty running and mountain biking events per year.
Jamil has been running ultra marathons since 2005 and his long term goal is to become a five loop finisher of the Barkley Marathons.
Can confirm that the Blackcomb portion for the 110km racers was brutal. Sleet, heavy fog, nighttime - zero viz still in shorts 😂 I was having horrible flashbacks watching this except I couldn’t see anything the entire race so it was actually really nice to see all the views I didn’t get to see. Congrats again Jam.
Wow, Gary's been seriously busy organizing these races. I can't imagine how much time and energy is required for such an undertaking.
I was in awe of how many potatoes you could eat at an aid station! The speed and efficiency was next level! It took me like 10 minutes to eat 1 pancake 😂
those shots above the cloud line were just epic
I helped flag for WAM. “ Confidence flagging” is how Gary described it!
Those course markings cracked me up. It was like he had an extra 200 markers and just decided to stick them everywhere. Beautiful looking course.
Whistler Alpine Meadows - wow - must visit
Gary Robbins is such a highlight of ultra. He is such a hard worker for the sport and not just a race smasher.. love that dude.
Thanks Jamil for 'taking us with you', always love your footage & commentary when you're actually participating! The "parade" comment totally cracked me up :-D
Thank you for showing us it is possible
"I've got some things to talk to you about." 😂 Love it, looks like an awesome course!!
“....Gary Robbins.....let’s talk about your course marking bro...”
007samd 😂
Damn Jamil. 104mi off the couch. You sir, are a machine! Well done and thanks for bringing us along!
Holy heck! You all are so impressive!
Thanks so much for sharing.
Effin love these videos Jamil
Gary marks the course like he wishes Barkley was marked.
Haha! My thought as well.
For sure!
rude

these videos make me excited to want to get up and run tomorrow. Incredible that you're able to just bang out 100 miles like that... hats off to you, sir.
Wow! The views on this race were incredible.
Wow! What a beautiful course. I might actually be able to follow that sort of course marking!
The course looks unreal. Gary Robbins is managing some of the most awesome events on the continent. Thanks for the content and your commitment to covering this sport- arguably, one of the cornerstones of human competition. Tribe!
Well... there’s another one that goes on the “must run” list! Gorgeous!!
at least you weren't overtrained! Kudo's, Jamil! thank you for taking us along! hope to see you soon in the San Juans! head bowed,
Thanks for taking us along for the ride!
Dude!!! @7:34... amazing!!!
I love your videos, truly inspiring for beginner trail runners like me!!!
Oh no, yet another reason to visit BC. They keep on coming!
Currently and for long the best tail videos on youtube
Now that was a spectacular view @ 7:50
Congratulations young Gun , great to notice the fitness level of the USA and Canadian citizens.
You're an absolute beast doing that with that little training!
And was so - " Matter of fact" about the whole race- Chill
*87 miles to go* "yeah my legs are feeling tired". That's a hard spot to be in
What a gorgeous race and awesome job for you to finish in that time with not so much training! Thanks for sharing it with all of us
Well done.
Yaaaas!!!! Your videos are so great to watch, good music, calming scenery, and you have such a great character.
Thanks, Jamil! Great content, well done!
What a great optimistic attitude! Great video
Good to see you back as usual the content is of high quality What views!!
awesome as always - thanks for taking us along. Blows my mind that you can finish a hundred, and still be running at the end, on such low training mileage. Proof that a multi-year foundation and mental toughness is the key to ultras, not short term mileage. Would love to do one of Gary's shorter runs one day.
Awesome. The course looks amazing.
Really enjoyed this video! You made it look incredibly easy despite that not being the case. Well done 👏🏻
That inversion layer almost made me cry :D
Thanks for making the last minute effort. Always appreciate your vids. Keep it steep, keep it moving, and def keep filming!
Awesome Jamil 😎. Beautiful course. Thank you for sharing. Is such inspiration for people like me to watch these journeys.
That view at the top of Whistler Peak was AMAZING!!! Add this race to the bucket list! Great job Jamil!
Amazing work, admire how calculated you were from the start. Stunning trails, always inspiring!
Did some quick back of the napkin math. Jamil does 100 mile race on 18 mile avg weeks, I am currently in 270 mile shape.
Oh and I am pretty good at math LOL
Benjamin Lee ultra math has a much lower standard.
50 mile weeks, nice work.
That view from the top was amazing!
Loved the video. WAM 100 looks like it’s going on my list...
Who's excited to watch someone run 100 mile...woooo.
Great effort well done Jamil
Wow, absolutely beautiful course! Thanks much for sharing!
Awesome video!! Thank you for making this
I am sure you will be back this year for more WAM action. Great video and such a beautiful scenery.
Great video, what a fantastic part of the world
Great video!
You make it look easy! Such a great vid, thank you for sharing!
Great vid, thx 4 posting it!
Awesome! Great to see another race vlog. Thanks, Jamil
Gary seems like a very nice legitimately caring guy.
AWESOME!
Nice video, thanks. That course looks very nice.
Hi, can I ask from where you get all that very nice background tunes. Almost in all your videos, the music is so nice and gentle to the correct level. Oh also, I am one of your regular viewers. Please keep up the great work. Cheers from Ireland, Jamil.
Amazing views. Thanks for sharing
Sweet views
Awesome job as always!!
Wish this was an hour long
Hey your channel changed my life. Gotta ask, is that you making the music? I’ve been wondering forever now and am just posting to most recent video. Thanks for your insannnnnne ambition.
We license all of our music from Epidemic Sound!
Ohhhhh nice! if this is Jamil thanks! On a treadmill as i reply lol
Missed your race videos Jam Jam.
Any plans of being a ws100 qualifier? We need more of thise in canada (and utmb points)
seems like long distances between AS.. what pack u wore how much water did u carry and what type of food?great video jealous!
Wicked!
What red jacket are you wearing in the early morning?
do u carry bear mace on this run?
What are trail naps? Did you actually nap?
What camera gear you use ?
Man, talk about some gorgeous views! I'm curious, for this particular run, what percentage are you actually running? There's a lot of terrains that looks like it's more hiking/climbing. Nice video!
You new to ultra running?
@@legitlee8359 I don't do any ultra running. The most I have ever run is a half marathon and it's been only around the Houston Area (FLAT Terrain.) That's why I'm curious.
@@pacomontoya Oh I see, well in that case I'll explain. When running an ultra ita very rare you can actually run all of it because of the terrain and the climbs involved. I've ran a few and never ran the whole of one of them. It's only flat courses that people will run 100% of,and still thats mainly only the elite that can do it
@@legitlee8359 Thanks! I appreciate you taking the time to explain. I think the one thing that would ever drive me to do one of these would be the beautiful scenery.
@@pacomontoya no worries buddy, you should try one some day,you won't regret it 💪👍
what kind of trail vest u wearing?
Nice video, thanks. One question, @runsteepgethigh : As such an hardcore runner that you are, may I ask why are you still wearing your old blue Suunto instead of upgrading to something newer, more precise with more features, etc? I’m sort of a watchnut, that’s why I’m asking. Keep up the great work!
I'd like to one day get into ultra running after my road racing career is over but I am extremely confused on how you know where to go?!? how do you not get lost
There are makings such as flagging tape of pin flags placed in the ground relatively close together where there is often always one in sight. Or there is just one trail to follow for long stretches there wouldn't be another route to take!
marking may look ridiculous but with 5 feet visibility in thick fog I'm sure it's necessary ...
Stephan Frion exactly. Gary doesn't want racers getting lost up there in the fog!
For sure. Some reflectors would be a good addition next year!
Run Steep Get High Bromont at 4am in the rain and fog everyone got lost, even the course designer 😂
I think someone made a mistake when ordering markers and got way more then intended, but then decided to use them all to say it was intentional :)
Who was the one dislike????
😉😉😉😍
How dislike?
Huge discrepancy in volume between music and narration...hard to enjoy sadly🙁
Awesome job suffering and chronicling your experience for us as always👍🍻
Will work on it. Thanks for the feedback
Are you sure about that? Because on decent set of studio monitors it sounds fine.
Yes sounds fine here in the UK !
No issues here. It was totally fine. Perhaps buy new headphones or speakers?
@@8draco8 Funny you should say that...cause I'm actually in my recording studio making this observation...and the balance is still extreme. My first observation was with headphones though:)
