  • Death trap or brought back to life?
    Crap I used in the video to make this project happen.....
    Physical contact tachometer digital: amzn.to/3SXOsg7
    Inspection camera for phone: amzn.to/3yCimym
    Lettering brushes I use: amzn.to/3EwzFVf
    Lettering paint"One-Shot": amzn.to/3SXpltH
    Transfer Paper for sign painting: amzn.to/3MtLM7A
    After Thoughts about the Video: The pulley on the gas motor is way too small but that can be a good thing as this will put fewer "miles" on the pump. The Quincy pump on this is rated to run 400-1000rpm with the highest also being the fastest cycle/pump up time. I would have swapped the pulley but it appears to be rust welded pretty good. Future me will have to worry about that one.
    Quincy 210-1 rated for 400-1000rpm 2.82 to 6.34 CFM at 100psi

    Good OLD stuff! And a flat head Briggs will ALWAYS run eventually if i's not exploded. IF you ever run into a Briggs gas tank with pinholes, get a tube of Seal-all from the Dollar store or hardware or parts place and after cleaning the tank and blowing it out, just squeeze a blob out where the holes are and let it set a while. That's all it takes and a blob will level itself out and that's it. No more leakages. I've used that on several Briggs tanks and nary a drop of ethanol gas has emerged from foresaid cavity. Sorry things are so bad that Ginger had to go work part time but maybe you'll get her employee discount. FINE compressor and it'll come in handy, NO doubt! BLESSINGS, Pal!

    That blue and white reminds me of vintage ford tractors from the same era. That's a great collection of vintage American tools you've got there, I've noticed here in the UK in recent years more and more people are recognising the value in old tools and machinery and that is being reflected in the prices and they aren't ending back up on the market so my guess is most of the people who are buying them are buying them fixing them up and using them or using them for spares. Nice bit of sign writing btw!!

    • @MaxGiganteum
      @MaxGiganteum Рік тому

      My take on people scooping up and using vintage tools is that new tool prices have risen a lot... and when you couple that with the quality of brand new tools being in the poor quality range, it makes sense to put some time, effort and a little bit of money into the vintage tools. Especially so when you consider their continued durability. Peace & good vibes! 👍🏻👨🏻‍🏭🇺🇸

    I did not know how that air/oil pressure worked, learned something new today👌 I find those older engines are very reliable & easy to work on, also were often discarded & available, not too many today, at least in my area. Funny HD asking for help, Ginger was more help then what you usually would get LOL
    Great restoration!!! Fabricator, Mechanic, Metal Worker, Engineer, Glazier ,Artist and most important good guy & dog lover.
    100% in agreement about spark plugs & oil change. I bough a a head for a Ford Escort years back from a junk yard that had plugs in it. It was the first time changing an auto engine head. It started & ran great. I was getting 27 MPG town/hwy driving & I just did not get to changing the plugs.. My brother-in-law had nothing but criticism, "You did not change the plugs???" I would have changed the plugs but with 27mpg, new plugs why? That is what I was getting when the car was new. In my Trash or Treasure series, I do not change the oil unless/until I get them started.
    It goes without say, another big 👍
    Stay well, Joe Z

    • @sixtyfiveford
      @sixtyfiveford  Рік тому

      I stopped buying plugs for small engines almost 15 years ago and have only come across 1 that was cracked and needed a swap for a different old plug (I had a used one for it laying around). My savings has to be in the $1000s by now. Most of that are pushing $4-5 a plug now. For cars I only swap if they are hard to reach and or Platinum/ iridium as you can't see the condition of the electrode. I actually started putting only copper plugs in my cars as you can clean them whenever and also see the condition instantly by looking at them. I find a get better gas mileage with the copper plugs and being cleaned occasionally versus putting in 100,000 mi Platinum and never touching it.

    Have one since the 70's built in 1969. It came with a 3 hp electric. I ran a 7 hp gas on it and used it for drywall texture work for years. I now have a 5 hp electric using it in my work shop. It like you explained it's a continuous run compressor designed for painting cars. I deleted the continuous run system, installed a regulator so it will cycle on and off and have used it in my shop for 35 years. I ran a 4 1/2" pulley on the gas and am currently running a 3 1/4" pully on the electric motor with a 125lbs shut-off. Good job!
