    My wife has considered divorce since finding your channel😂 amazing work man.

    You should be able to run those cowl actuators off of an H-bridge channel that several PDMs do have.

      @The-virg  8 місяців тому +1

      I will have to check into that. This is a hardwire electronics pdm.

      @@The-virg Yeah, I realized that after commenting and they don't advertise an H-bridge output. The AIM PDM32 and MaxxECU PDM20 are the first ones that I think of with H-bridge capabilities. One thing to note with them though is that they are made for 12V nom systems, not 24V like some aircraft. There are others out there as well, but these are just what I am familiar with. I am kind of curious why you have physical fuses for the PDM outputs though when it has the ability to monitor and reset itself. Also, I didn't catch it, but are you tied into the Garmin CANbus with the PDM too?

    • @The-virg

      @@Jazz3006 without some fancy coding I don’t think there is any way to tie the pdm to Garmin can bus. The fuses are for avionics and critical systems. Everything else is run through the pdm. 78 total circuits in the aircraft.

    • @Jazz3006

      @@The-virg CAN is pretty simple actually. Especially when you are using systems like PDMs and the like that have prebuilt UIs to work with. I was just hoping you'd been able to find the Garmin bus definitions because I haven't had much luck in the time that I had spent looking for them. That's a lot of circuits!

    That is one busy instrumentation rack. Do you have enough cooling for them especially if you’re going to be in a hot country?

      Should be plenty. I added some computer fans to move air throughout but we will see. It is ford sure a full house.

    Looks pretty good. I would suggest drip-loops in your wiring to say for example, GTX35R. In aircraft design (EWIS), we want to see drip loops everywhere, or environmentally sealed backshells. You'll get condensation on the wiring and it'll run down the harness into the backshell. Possibly pooling in the backshell, or shorting out several contacts. On the circuit breaker topic, they do make Remote Control Circuit Breaker (RCCB) if you needed to locate the breaker closer to the power source vs running large wire gauge all the way up to the cockpit panel, saving on cable weight. I'll have to pay a visit one weekend on the motorcycle. We're up in Wichita.

    Awesome job Virgil. I have enjoyed keeping up with you and your developments. Can you explain the details of your fuel system (capacity, transfer, instrumentation, why you chose what you did, etc.)? Also, is your garmin tied to the transfer pumps such that it knows how much fuel you have available in the whole plane? Thanks!

    • @The-virg
      @The-virg  Рік тому

      I’ve got a fuel system video in the works but essentially the Garmin has a sending unit to monitor the header tank and everything else is just based on calculated fuel burn which is really accurate with the efii system.

    I would be interested in purchasing it but I would like some news. What range does it have at cruising speed?

    • @The-virg
      @The-virg  11 місяців тому

      Range at cruise is roughly 800 miles. I will have an update out soon.

    I would like to buy one of these planes one day ,how much cheaper is a 4 place?

    • @The-virg
      @The-virg  Рік тому +1

      The Four place can run a cheaper motor and the airframe is lower cost as well.

    Do you have a total cost estimate for this awesome avionics setup?

    • @The-virg
      @The-virg  11 місяців тому

      At the time roughly 30-35k. it has gone up since then. I bet it would cast 40-50k now. If you install yourself.
