Dude these vids are awesome! I originally started watching just out of curiosity of the Bearhawk 5 and after hearing your story and what you plan on doing with it, I can't wait to see the ministry side of all this. Anything you post I'll support. God bless you man!
I’d be interested to see your other content. Also, how the Bearhawk does in Africa. I’m sure those would be awesome videos, too. Also, don’t stop making S-7 videos. I love those. I’m an okie, too. Just a couple of hours NE up the turnpike from you. Trying to talk myself into tackling an S-20 project.
Appsolutely Awesome 👌 Your content is great and easy to understand and educational Its great to see you are putting your heart and sole into what you are doing. And that yourself and your wife , plus team are going to help people that don't have the privileges that we take for granted. I myself are a Pilot and wanted to do a similar thing here in outback Australia 🇦🇺 But unfortunately my health at the moment won't allow me to do so at this time. Most people have forgotten that life should be about helping others less fortunate than ourselves. Much love and light to you and your family and may Gods Angel's watch over you and your team and keep you all safe on your project ahead. Much love from Australia Dean ❤️ 🇦🇺
Love the aviation content, but would definitely be interested in other project content - particularly fabrication projects showing cool solutions to problems (aviation or not) with the same style of techniques/tips/tricks that you've included in previous videos. 👌
@@The-virg That would be awesome! I'm doing a hybrid (on/off-grid) 7.6kW of solar install on my detached garage right now. I love watching hangar builds and solar projects. Can't wait!
You should do the test with the same fuel amount (not sure if I saw you refuel in the video). If you spent a lot of fuel in the clean config, your numbers won’t be the same.
Love the aviation content. Ordered a bearhawk 5 also. Appreciate all the helpful info in your build series. Looking to put a grass strip on our farm. Any advice on doing so? Also minimum length you would safely reccomend for that plane? Our setup would be very similar in build.
Obstacles are your enemy. With clear approaches you can get buy with very little. No obstacles 1000 would be good and usable in almost all wheather conditions. Much less than that and it might start to get tight. Bearhawk honestly doesn’t need much. 500ish takeoff and landing at gross.
I’d like to see it but maybe on a 2nd channel. Then people can subscribe to the content they want and not get “turned off” by what they don’t. Better for you according to UA-cam algorithms.
Great to see you found the sweet spot! I agree it's not just about lowering stall speed. With vgs it flies like a different wing even well above stall speed. Curious if you installed across the skylight? That squeezed a little more performance out of the low end on a wag aero wagabond I fly. I'd enjoy seeing more content about your other endevors. God bless!
Real value testing would use a camera on yarn strips all over the ring to record laminar flow separation. This is the best method for VG placement evaluation. btw ... what's the NACA number of the Bearhawk 5's wing ?
Excellent channel! I want to buy a Bear Hawk Model 5 What would happen if you put a canard on the front of the airplane? Would a canard give you and even slower landing speed? Would you consider experimenting with a canard? I really want to know!
Canards have mixed results. The wren 460 and katmai series had good results. I think there is much lower hanging fruit for performance. Probably won’t mess with it.
@The-virg they are ski high, $300k just for the fuselage. $500 - $600k for everything ready to build. But 40ft wing and 112 gallons of fuel with a solid 1000 mile range is impressive.
Just clarifying that your speeds are MPH and not knots? I heard ya say at the end it probably helps lower the approach 10mph but may have missed it in the beginning of the video. Thanks for sharing what ya do.

Thanks 👍🏼
Great video. I'd enjoy seeing your work in Africa too!
Thanks for the feedback.
Would love to see other things you are doing.
Yes! Show us the ministry side of it.
👍🏼
Thanks for figuring this all out for me Virgil. I’ll just copy you when I start my model 5. 😂
Just doing my civic duty. Lol
Yes show us what your up to in Africa. It will help us in our prayers for you. If it gets bad I will let you know. Lol
Great video! Would love to see the other projects as well!
Thanks for the feedback.

The s7 is almost ready to go back together and be good as new. I will get a video out soon. 👍🏼

Thanks, I’m glad you enjoy and we have definitely enjoyed the ride.
Yes, let us see it all. And keep it flying!
Sounds good.
BAM 👌🏽🙌🏽💯💥
Id like to see all your content, businesses, etc. Nice content.
Ok thanks!
Enjoy your channel and would appreciate a variety of content
Thanks! Will do!
Excellent stuff bro
Thanks

Thanks for the feedback. We have some hangar building solar projects and other stuff to do in Africa so I think I will cover a lot of that.

Wow, great video and info. I am all for Aviation on the channel
Thanks for the feedback.
Great Video!
Thanks!

I Refueled in the middle. Fuel was within a gallon or two for both tests.

Well done, excellent video! I didn’t catch what your cruise speed was? Thanks, I’m building the Bearhawk 5 the slow way
This one with big gear, 31,s and a belly pod is seeing about 135. Stock are seeing 145ish indicated.

Interesting on the vg’s across the skylight. I may have to try adding them.
If you do I’d like to hear the results
Nice! I’m thinking about doing them in my plane. I absolutely cannot loose any cruise speed tho.
With proper placement you will not loose any cruise speed.
Real value testing would use a camera on yarn strips all over the ring to record laminar flow separation. This is the best method for VG placement evaluation.
btw ... what's the NACA number of the Bearhawk 5's wing ?
The bearhawk is a ribblet airfoil.
Excellent channel!

Build another Bearhawk 5 and make it an in depth how to. Cover everything that it takes to build one. Or build a Bushliner and compare the two.
The bush liners are cool airplanes but I think they are gonna be about twice the price to build. We will see but they look like great airplanes.

@@MrAjtellier yeah that is hold them back a bit. Bearhawk 5 can be completed for 150-300 depending on what you want.

Yep numbers are mph.
5:17 pizz on your music
Tell me about that little tug!
That’s classified lol. But there may be a bear paw on the market soon. 👍🏼
Just stick to aviation please.
