I am at work, and I am secretly on youtube, and instead of caring about the risk of being fired, I am secretly having chills while listening to this. A masterpiece!

I'm crying right now, and that aint easy to make do....that woman he's with is a goddesss, and the playing is off the hook, just unreal amazing, i never heard anything like this, he is doing stuff that shouldnt be possible. Seriously, its making cry, thats how beautiful it is.
thaTS just a beautiful performance , what a soundm and the musicallity especially , dynamic contrast on the tremlo in alegrias and mantilla , that was just great , godh i have to put that piece to memory,, pure brilliance is paco pena
wow..Paco Pena..That was amazing and with absolute grace to touch one's soul especially la feria with the castenets..Tks so much..warm cheers..siva..gtr..India..(guitsiva)..
Thank you paco, Ive watched this at least 40 times now, it still brings tears to my eyes you and your woman friend are unreal, her looks are unmached by any woman and so is your playing, I look forward and cant wait to purchace you CD's, thanks!
Not only is Paco Peña phenomenal technically but also and most important his music is so emotional and beautiful. Thank you very much for putting this here. Saludos Tomás
exactly- great intelligent comment- i wish more people thought like you instead of saying so and so's better than him etc., i love paco pena for the more traditional flamenco stuff and i don't think anybody can touch him for that stuff
pena, de lucia, amigo, sanlucar, et al, i lke them all, and i'd rather not argue with anyone on who is the best and who sucks. thanks for sharing this video.
Paco Peña teaches at the Rotterdam (the town where I live) music academy and gave superb solo concerts in Rotterdam on a yearly basis in the late 80ies/early 90ies. But in recent years he mostly gives concerts with his dance company, in these concerts he does very little solo guitar, if at all.....I'm not that really into flamenco dance and song, so I'm not too happy with that. However, I read this about his upcoming Australian concerts: "The first half of the performance features the solo guitar by Paco Peña. The second half sees the dancers join Mr Peña for the full flamenco experience". That might win me over to go again after all these years.
Okay. Thanks for the insight. You are very lucky to live in the same city. I wonder how much he charges for a lesson? I have tried teaching myself but it is a long road. Very few people teach flamenco in Australia. I don't know of any.
Mmm.....can only make an educated guess on that, I'd say yes, based on his previous shows. But you'd have to google if this particular show you're visiting has any singing.
yes it is but not paco de lucia compo. but Esteban de Sanlucar one it's a very traditionnal flamenco piece i forget wich palo it is... thx for the upload.
I still say the best version of Mantilla de Feria I have heard is by Mario Esceduro, although both Pacos are brilliant and I am not lucky enough to have heard Esteban Sanlucars yet.
@davidpintol Have you taken the trouble to listen to the 2nd part (from 2:55)? That is Mantilla De Feria. Ever considered that somebody else might play De Lucia's compositions?
its not paco de lucias composition, it was esteban de sanlucar's composition. mario escudero made the best interpretation of the piece imo and mario escudero was a huge influence in paco de lucias playing.
Anyone know what kind of guitar that is?I've seen many "old school" players with them but I'm not sure if all the guitars with the pegs are the same make.Any help would be appreciated.Cheers!
Probably a Gerundino based on what other posters related in another version of this same performance: www.zavaletas-guitarras.com/archive-flamenco/1970-gerundino-fernandez?rq=Gerundino Also looks and sounds like some of he great peg-head Ramirez guitars from the 60's.
most dont read portuguese.... but why are you offensive when we talk about taste here? violence is the last thing Paco Pena radiates.... and I saw him first in 1972, and sicne then this has remained.. an example..
Have you discovered alegria tabs? im searching too. Had a good Homepage that contained some, but i dont remember the page.. would be nice if u got something. just looking for the Standard stuff

If your boss is a smart person, he/she should give a raise instead.

@tmjcbs It is actually by Esteban Sanlucar. Same guy who wrote Panaderos Flamencos.
Paco Pena is going coming to Brisbane, Australia. It is the 1st time I have ever seen live flamenco. I am really looking forward to it.
Paco Peña teaches at the Rotterdam (the town where I live) music academy and gave superb solo concerts in Rotterdam on a yearly basis in the late 80ies/early 90ies. Hi again :) I was just wondering if Paco Pena has any singing at his concerts these days??
Mmm.....can only make an educated guess on that, I'd say yes, based on his previous shows. But you'd have to google if this particular show you're visiting has any singing.
Okay thanks.

OOOlllleeee aaaaasoooooooooo!!!
WOW, JUST FUCKING WOW!
Mantilla de Feria starts at 2:53
@purplecita Yes it is, the second part is definitely Mantilla de feria, although Paco Pena plays his own interpretation of it.
@Molopozotion theyre all great and talented you cant be judging like that.
I don't know who built this particular guitar, but I do know Paco has played guitars made by Gerundino for many years (and perhaps still does)
Thanks to both of you.
@purplecita yes, it is.
@tmjcbs I think the composer is actually Esteban de Sanlucar and of course, many people do play this fabulous piece :)

@tmjcbs definately in the style of the great Sabicas.
I still say the best version of Mantilla de Feria I have heard is by Mario Esceduro, although both Pacos are brilliant and I am not lucky enough to have heard Esteban Sanlucars yet.

this woman's timing is superb...any name here?
@davidpintol Have you taken the trouble to listen to the 2nd part (from 2:55)? That is Mantilla De Feria. Ever considered that somebody else might play De Lucia's compositions?
Who is playing the castanuelos?
its not paco de lucias composition, it was esteban de sanlucar's composition. mario escudero made the best interpretation of the piece imo and mario escudero was a huge influence in paco de lucias playing.
If anybody knows what the first piece is - either the title or the style, I'd like to know

@petey604 Gerundiño Fernández of course!

Anyone know what kind of guitar that is?I've seen many
"old school" players with them but I'm not sure if
all the guitars with the pegs are the same make.Any
help would be appreciated.Cheers!

@tmjcbs sorry you're right, I did not set well.
this guitar is a gem amongst guitars. anyone know the luthier by chance?
I wouldn't know about this particular guitar, but I do know the Spanish luthier Gerundino has made guitars for Paco Pena.
Probably a Gerundino based on what other posters related in another version of this same performance: www.zavaletas-guitarras.com/archive-flamenco/1970-gerundino-fernandez?rq=Gerundino
Also looks and sounds like some of he great peg-head Ramirez guitars from the 60's.
it's interesting how he holds his guitar. no support?
@tmjcbs no it's not!! mantilla de feria la toca Paco de Lucia man...!!!
Champeta cartagenera
most dont read portuguese.... but why are you offensive when we talk about taste here? violence is the last thing Paco Pena radiates.... and I saw him first in 1972, and sicne then this has remained.. an example..
Mi nino curro is just one example.
Thumbs up. But of course you can´t compare Paco de Lucía with ANYONE! Not even a phenomenal performer like Paco Peña.
so good tremolo fuckin shit very musical for sure better then paco de lucia
