- Checking the tech in the 2019 Volvo S60. Volvo's Sensus touchscreen infotainment system has a lot of functionality, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. But the slow-to-respond software can be frustrating at times, especially when first starting the car. Honestly, that's the biggest problem with Volvo's today. Read the full review: roadshow.co/RdcVnI

Been riding a v90 for almost a year now...the system in it hasn't shown any sort of lag till now...honestly I would praise volvo for their minimalist style over the idrives, mmi and the mbxui
Had two V90s now - Sensus has never been a problem - you dont need to even touch it to get most functionality, you can talk to it! Frustrated by seat heating being slow? On a cold morning I can start my car whilst in bed and get in it once its warm, with the seat heating and heated steering wheel warm. Like everything, if you don't take time to familiarise yourself you will not get the best out of it.
There are a few more problems with Sensus:
- Sensus can`t read audio files inside the folders, from USB. Audio player see only files saved directly on the external memory. It is not possible to play records saved inside the folders.
- Lack of SD card reader
- Some of the big petrol stations located on the A2 highway are not shown on the sat map.
- Navigation sat map doesn’t show POI located on the way, in a distance. They are seen only when view is zoomed to see object in ~ 2km distance or less. It makes long route planning difficult, especially if the driver needs to use dedicated petrol stations.
You can voice control pretty much everything on Sensus so no need to touch anything that you’ll need everyday. Problem with these reviews are people are not aware of that.
but not everyone wants to be talking to a car to do everything! sometimes you want uninterrupted buttons without having to talk to your car... SMH! that infotainment is a fucking fail! also the 8 speed auto on the XC 40 and brakes are TERRIBLE!!!! the shifts are sluggish and the brake pedal is too damn sensitive
Thank you the great info! I appreciate your taking the time and effort. I'm seriously considering a pre-owned 2019 model after renting one for a week.
The 2019 Sensus is 3x faster than 2016-2018 cars. I never seen any lag with any 2019 models. I own 2018 s90 and its a little faster than 2017 but not by much. 2019 is 3x faster.
It seems quite slow here...... Mine is on order, I'm worried.
Have had an XC90 for two years now. Never had any problems, so I don't know what you're nagging about.
The Good: Your voice is perfect for luxury and above car reviews.
The Bad: The infortainment system needs an update. Hardware as well as software. It's ok to have a horizontal infortainment that's bigger Volvo.
I only have two problems with this system
1, It let's you choose the form to display the date. But in the system there is nowhere to display date at all
2, When do you scroll up and down the song from the playlist, The highlight bar will not stay on the screen
Decent video. But what exactly is the issue? I don’t understand. The title makes it seem like there is serious issues with the sensus system but you never mentioned any?
I would guess that if you’re in a cold climate you’re probably going to be remote starting the vehicle which should solve the slow load time of the center console (assuming remote start is standard). Would also be nice if the heated seats, should you have them, started warming after a remote start. Everything should be loaded and toasty by the time your opening the door :-)
I have a redesign proposition for this volvo console, it modifies the position of the ac vents and add buttons
My 16’ xc90 crashed after the dealership upgraded the software. Has anyone experienced this?
I agree with the comments about the Sensus system. I have a Volvo XC90, and that is my only gripe with the vehicle. I don’t know why the thing is so slow and laggy sometimes. Very frustrating!
Have a v90 cc and your key word for me is sometimes. It's never faster than 15 seconds but sometimes takes longer esp for the navigation.
Where is problem?
That’s why you preheat you car in the winter 😃
wow android auto! *stares at Toyota*
Literally one of the most simple infotainments to use, no clue what you’re whining about. No problems at all.
It’s not slow and you don’t have to “dive into” it to adjust the climate. The climate status is persistent and always there ready to be accessed.
he likes to find something to complain about. one of those complainers nothing is making him happy.
It's OK for you in the uk you have to use left hand too@@ ridiculous this car has no Internet browser no access to apps apart from pre installed rubbish
My wife xc90 r polestar t6, that annoys me just typing this crap out, the infotainment sucks. I'm sure it does a lot more than I realize, but Chrysler FCA infotainment blows it out of the water. Nice ride and its fairly zippy, but give me a SRT300 6.4 any day over wife's volvo
All lies I have a 2018 v60 and starts pretty quick! And the hybrids are evens faster! The infotainment is so crasy simple! Dumb Roadshow
I tested the new Volvo S60 - gasoline engine sounds like my old broken diesel Volvo, drive like it as well and retains all flaws in interior and exterior of it. Disaster!
Volvo's biggest problem is overall reliability, and their horrible supercharged and turbocharged 4 cylinder engine.
The 2019 BMW X5 looks far more compelling as a CPO in a few years.
Idiot!
The engine is less of a problem than the transmission. You don't put paddles on the car and then tune the transmission to respond so poorly to those inputs.
