Squid fishing is the bulk of what shines here in SA metro wise. For your bigger/desirable fish, it normally takes a few hours of driving. Snook and whiting are fun to catch and quite easy as long as you have a watercraft and I highly recommend kayak fishing here 👍
Thanks for the great videos Jeff, my 7 year old Josh and I would love to see your kayak videos too. We like listening to your tips and think that it’s great you take the time to help others catch fish too. Keep up the great work!
Excellent tips mate I’m learning more with every video, you sure know a lot.I would love to see your kayak videos I’m interested in getting on.Keep up the good work on the vids. Thanks for all the tips.Where is the best place to fish of Marino rocks.
Marino rocks is just a trek hahahah. We just walk along it and fish off every single furthest out rock we can find until we hit something which we usually do :>
They generally don't work quite as well as an active presentation but they do work. I usually just have another jig dropped straight down when I am really fishing for a feed. I normally don't encourage floating rigs because they inevitably drift and block other fishers and the slower catch rate means they rarely get reeled in. That being said, casting them a short ways down the jetty or far away and reeling in dead slow can work quite well and be less obtrusive.
@@JEFFISH Thanks Jeff, yes i noticed that when i see floats out they drift across other fishing lines, so that can be a problem. The idea of casting and slow retrieve could be a good idea though, Thanks :)
I actually do let it sink. These are DUO D squids which are 21 grams and they sink very quickly. I always watch my line and when it sags as the lure hits the bottom, I flick the rod.
in your brighton squidding video you recommended Jbraid, is there a noticeable difference to SPECTRA? otherwise awesome video! I cant wait to see some of the winter squidding!
J Braid is insanely strong and thin. It casts better and makes noticeably stronger knots with a very good finger feel for handling. I use spectra because I can avoid the rocks and snags and I use my drag decently. Also spectra is $5 for 300m and J braid is $40 for the same.
Also I'm looking at the 1dfr rod, is it important that it is the 7ft2in 1-2kg or will the 6ft 6-10kg be just as good, I have no idea what I'm looking at when I see all the sizes haha
@@mikal625 The 6-10kg is way too thick for this kind of fishing. But at the moment the 1dfr is at $169 and overpriced thanks to youtubers mentioning it. I highly recommend getting a Zman combo at 1-3kg from anaconda instead at $79.
In my brighton video I explain this in detail. The gist of it is you reel in till your line is tight and watch it. When the lure hits the bottom, the line will suddenly slack. At that moment flick two or three times while turning the handle once per flick.
I love jetty fishing but it is annoying how ppl all ways get so close to you once you start hooking up, other than that though good quality squidding !!!
The people have spoken. There shall be kayak!
Best video on UA-cam. Learn lot from you.
enjoyed watching it mate....
Great video mate! I'm planning to move to Adelaide this year and keen on learning how to fish!

Great techniques!!
Great video mate👍 are does burley pots yours?
Nope I never use berley except off a kayak. Even then, only when fishing for gar :>
So is this in Adelaide?
🤔
Love your videos mate, keep up the good work. Very informative, great learning. Would enjoy your kayak videos as well, cheers.
What is the daily squid limit a single day in South Australia? By the way thanks for video.
I always enjoy your videos mate, I wanted to ask you about your kayak fishing months ago, go for it and post them , I am sure they will be awesome
Great work, looking forward to the kayaking videos!

Would love to see some kayak fishing and just general fishing videos while you work on and make your how to videos!!!
Nice video mate. Learnt a lot! Do you burley up to get all the small fish going?
Thanks! Thats the best thing, they're just crusing around looking for any invertebrates or fishes. No berley required!
Are thay still around
Hi Jeff, just wondering if you ever use a baited float rig from the jetty? Have you found this effective from metro jetties? Thanks

Hello, I see that you do not let the lure sink, but work with him upstairs, do you recommend this method ? Thanks in advance

@@JEFFISH I can't seem to find a 1-3kg, they only have 2-4kg and higher for the zman combos
@@mikal625 the 2-4 should be excellent
Love the squidding videos! Do you twitch the rod when the jig hits the bottom? and how do you know when the jig hits the bottom, what are the cues?
