Subscribed. Came across your channel and loved it. Just bought a place not too far away from this spot. Will love to get down there and give it a go. Love your idea of using inexpensive squid prongs and silver whiting instead of squid jigs (lost too many).

I have a.handful of whiting too but how do you manage yourself with blowies strippng the bait off?
I honestly haven't had any issues yet. Have heard leatherjackets and toadies are a bit issue though

Look at Google maps satellite view around Western Port you'll find it pretty easy I found it in less than 5 mins

Nice vid mate. It's always nice to give them a karate chop with your hand between the eyes when they are on the ground. It kills them right away and is more humane than letting them sit there and die.
Same thoughts here ... just kill it instead of this slow and painful death :/
Ahhh, the cephalopod line of speicies are a little tougher than week old bunnies. You can literally full stomp on an octapus and it might change color a few times but will crawl right back into the water.
Easiest way is to pinch the section above the eyes of from the body no need to karate chop anymore which may pop the eyes and look gruesome 🤣 I used to do that too XD hiiiyaaa

Mate, you should ike jime them as soon as you catch them.
No point letting them just suffer on the rocks and they keep better as well.

@@raptorzilla0710 I've seen people do it with a little tool, kind of looks like a small ice pick. Stick them between the eyes once with the needle angled toward the mantle and again angled toward the tentacles, they go limp and immediately turn white so it seems to work pretty well. Never done it myself though so ymmv

I use the Yamashita tool because karate chopping them I blew out their eyes a few times and it didn't feel right.

Yes! Please do, them suckers have a surprisingly large and sophisticated brain, could be an alien consciousness of some kind suffering away.
Killing them and eating em is OK, nature is unfair and brutal, just the harsh reality of things, but no harm in being polite about it no?
Besides, karate chopped calamari has a ring to it...
Go home and fry them up with some seasoned cornstarch.

@@minginify squid is on tap in Cockburn Sound WA and around Garden Island. as soon as you jig they are onto you. 1 hour and you have a nice feed for the family.
