  • Making a heavy leather steampunk cowboy cuff bracelet with suede lining. This project is pretty straightforward and easy to build . . . watch to the end to see me screw it up.

    Great save! One lesson I learned from an old machinist quite a while ago was: Anyone can screw up but it takes a smart guy to figure a way out of it. You definitely figured a way out of it.

    I'm glad I'm not the only one that has to cut rivets and redo! Your work is outstanding!

    I can’t tell you how many times the buckle on the new work belt I just made got put on upside-down as I was installing and removing it when I was measuring and checking things. Thankfully the only other hardware I was using is a few Chicago screws 😂

    The lining you did. Which surface will be touch to skin? Suede or main surface? How about the leather of main surface for touching skin of wrist, will you recommend it?

    Taking rivets out is brutal! Is there a way of thinning that Antique Finish without buying the Tan-Kote? It must thin with something we have around the house! Do you know?

    This is a gorgeous piece of work. Q: what tool are you using to lay the stitch line on the buckle strap? That's unfamiliar to me but seems like it would have great utility for me.
    Thanks.

      It's a stitch groover with creaser attachment. You can get them from Weaver and Springfield

    out of curiosity, What determines whether or not you decide to hand stitch vs use the sewing machine?

    • @RoadAgentLeather
      @RoadAgentLeather  3 роки тому +1

      I'd prefer to saddle stitch everything by hand. It's a quality thing for me (and a selling point). I generally reserve the sewing machine for stuff that would take too long to stitch by hand (like belts). Then there are the times I just don't feel like hand stitching . . .

      @@RoadAgentLeather For me... I hand stich if that's what the customer wants. Other wise its machine.

    Anyone know the size of the buckles that are typically used making leather cuffs? I been looking into making some but don't know what buckle size to get
    Thanks

      I'm not sure of the size but I order them in packs of 5 or 10 on Amazon. I would imagine it is 1 inch.
