Love mine Fender Mustang 90 in the 2 tone sunburst, the P90's sound Amazing, I highly recommend it!!
Agreed, ots likely what I buy for the hardtail being great on this for tuning when strumming. I have a Performer Mustang guitar, and while the vibrato is stellar, if you cannot tone down slamming your hand down on the bridge when chugging, you'll move it slightly, and this will completely destroy the ability of this vibrato to stay in tune. They require a finesse to play well, the Fender Mustang, that is.
Cool guitars! I love the hardtail string through bridges! So much more simple than the tremelo. Easy to tune and install new strings. Simple and they work. Love the sunburst Mustang!

How do you have a list like this with no Jazzmaster or Jaguar - those are the two.best Fender offsets.
The originals, but the Mustang Camp has just as many stars in it and always has. The bass, for instance, is the sound of bass for the Rolling Stones, they NEVER used a different bass for recording. Also, The Talking heads came and mad a name for both the guitar and bass, in one band. While I agree its odd that there is no Jazzmaster or Jaguar on this list, but its because price wise, they are expensive and always has been. Try the Am. Performer Mustang, and tell me it isn't a champ of offsets.
I know it's complete personal preference, I had a duo-sonic a year ago but had to sell it as I was hard up. Just bought the Mustang last week and was really really looking forward to it coming. The first thing I noticed is the neck and fretboard is so much better on the duo-sonic. It's flatter and much easier to play. Personal preference just my thoughts.

This past June, 6 months ago now, I went to buy a guitar and had no clue about pickups or neck shapes or anything as it was my first guitar. Picked the HS Duo Sonic due to the color being the same as Billie Joe of Green Day’s guitar mostly. And also because I knew fender was a popular brand and that it was better than squier. The strats were about $200 more and I didn’t even really feel or try to play any of them because I was 100% clueless. Fast forward 6 months and I’m not amazing or anything but I know how to play some songs I like and whatnot and mess around with making up riffs. Come to find out my blind choice was one of the best decisions I could’ve made. I also purchased a 335 style guitar months later and though it offers a different sound, after I play it for a bit I’m always so much more comfortable and at ease playing my Duo Sonic. Awesome awesome guitar.
Thank you for sharing your experience. I just ordered a Fender Duo Sonic HS today. With covid-19 laws in place, all the guitar stores in my area are closed, so I had to make the decision without playing it first. What appeals to me is that I already have a strat, Tele, and jaguar (all happen to be squiers) and from the demos I'm seeing on YT, the Duo Sonic offers tones that are similar to classic Fender electric sounds, but it does have its own character, and I don't have a humbucker yet which could be useful if I need to lay down something heavy.. other than that, I would have probably gotten that nice Orange SS model, I play clean a lot and prefer single coils, but the split humbucker sounds just fine, so I might as well get the HS and have the bonus of some extra tone. Can't wait until it arrives in the mail
@@CupofCloud one thought, keep the single coils, and add a multistage distortion pedal instead. Fender singles can work pushed a bit with stackable gain stage pedals, they get a Sunset Strip, Hairmetal tone thats unbeatable. Then if its a Keeley Filaments, like I've got, its gonna make it scream like buckers anyway. I can get this, with a Mustang. Oh, and get a Behringer noise reducer for 20 bucks, its a game changer on keeping guitars perfect condition, no mods, huge tones.

Love how it says fender offset and shows two bodies that are exactly the same except for their control panel.
Mustang body is different than Duo Sonics. Look closely and you'll see that the waist is further back on the Stang. The reach towards the nut is further on the Stang, assuming seated play. Standing, they are both the same. This guy in the video likely doesn't know, or chose to ignore it. You can see the difference in the way it's payed in this demo, but probably need to compare pictures on Fender's site to notice it. For a really small person, the Duo Sonic may be easier to play.
@@JohnS-zq8ks the duo sonic isn't really offset. The Mustang is. Also, the cutaway shapes are different. Slightly more pointed on Duo Sonic, because its a miniature Stratocaster body, which isn't offset.
The original Duo Sonics were also a shorter scale length as well, meaning they were smaller originally than a mustang.

They did the mustang dirty by removing the switches now there is 0 reason to pay to get the extra just get the duo sonic fender just keeps fucking up thetr guitar lines

The Mustang M90 is an awesome geetar.
I'm not a Cobain fanboy ("fanboy"; what a gay sounding word, huh?) and my tastes run from mid 60's psychedelia (Yardbirds & Pink Floyd) to late 60's & early 70's crunch like Mountain & Alice Cooper and the M90 freakin' roars, baby! It's lightweight and versatile. And the small scale neck is built for speed.

Love my MIM DuoSonic with a maple fretboard, but those cheap ass switches. I heard many have problems with them and I did as well. Apart from that, it's got a 4-figure sound. Strum it unplugged and it just resonates. May sub out the pickups one day, but for the money, what a deal. Buy one and sub out the pickup switch before you take it home. Then you won't have to worry about it.
Is the Mustang 90 hum cancelling in the middle position?
I've seen this asked many times and guess what? I've got bad news. NO-ONE ever answers this question.

Of course, they make a three way toggle on anything hum canceling in middle. Even three way Tele does this, with its standard three way blade selector. However, some have push pull tone nobs, so when checking out any Fender from the last 5 years, give your tones a pull up. If they lift up, congratulations, you've got one of about 40 models not one salesperson had knowledge of to tell people they exist on many guitars in their lineup now. Happened with my family, and I even busted out an entire Sam Ash as not knowing when push pulls are on their guitars they sell to you. Like the Performer Tele, for instance. My father had one half a year, they didn't show him, so he had no idea. He just was using as a regular Tele.

That duo sonic hs is a bad ass guitar. I picked one up last fall.
The pink Mustang in that configuration is actually a Duo-Sonic II.
Not sure what you mean, it's a Mustang, albeit the offset spec is very similar to the duo-sonic with the only notable differences being the pickups and the scratchplate (also, not 100% sure but i think maybe the SS Duo Sonics all have maple necks, the Mustangs Rosewood (or Pau Ferro lately) and the HS Duo Sonic Pau Ferro too
You’re right, back in the day without the mustang bridge that guitar would be a duo-sonic II. They were otherwise pretty much the same guitar
BasicCoverMan he means that back in the 60’s there was a model called a duo-sonic II that looked exactly like a Mustang, same pickups, same pickguard, same switching, same body. Only difference between a Mustang was it had a fixed bridge instead of the Mustang bridge, and obviously a different decal from the Mustang. So originally a Mustang without a Mustang bridge was called a duo sonic II. Virtually the same guitar apart from the bridge.

This is a more of a TOP 5 Fender short scale. Although even then you'd need to include the Jaguar. Then this should be the TOP 5 Fender student models. The Mustang 90 is my favorite of this bunch. The Jazzmaster is the most used offset.

The one thing about the duo sonic that many don’t know; the original ones weren’t the same scale length as the Mustang. The Duo Sonic is originally smaller.
The Mustang is 24” scale length whereas the original duo sonics (as well as the 90’s duo sonics) came in a 22.5” scale length.

Totally agree, The new fender mustangs sucks! Im glad i used my money on the Squier VM mustang and my Squier VM Jaguar instead! I tried the fender models yesterday at my local music store, and never felt more sad, they do not sound or feel like a mustang, Why fender? Why?! Just one out of many reasons to why i will never buy fender or gibson..
We are all better off with squier and epiphone, fender and gibson really sucks in this time period..

fender is squier and gibson is epiphone... they pay third party companies to make the guitars a lesser spec than their american versions.
Awesome! I have the modded Fender Jaguar Mustang as well. I hate the bridge on it and need to change it and I am getting fret buzz and pick up noise. Nothing a really professional set up cannot fix. Did you have any issues with yours out of the box?

The bodies are actually a different shape. Look at the bottom curve on both guitars. Headstocks are different too.
Mustang is supposed to have a tremolo and switches for phasing but fenders been rebranding duo Sonics as mustang
