    To all the ppl that has had or still has this problem it's a fuse. If your windows don't work and your right tail light is out, don't panic. Find your right turn signal fuse and all your problems r solved! Just did mine and everything works again.

      God bless the guy who made this video and God bless you sir!!! Man I was stranded three hours away from home with these exact same problems. I'm sure the dealership would've juiced me for something. Thank You!!!

      For me the battery was actually dead, but a fuse is definitely another possibility if it isn’t the battery.

    You are a life saver! Without warning my 2011 traverse wouldn't start....began an awful clacking noise.. And I couldn't turn it off. This was 5:30am so woke hubby only to be flabbergasted as to where the darn battery was?? Your videos helped us discover the battery location and I got my key out. Thank you

    Thanks for the tip bro. Needed that when I got home late at night
    If you take out the trim on the driver side console next to driver seat, you’ll find a small micro limit switch that actuated this solenoid. I sprayed it and slightly bent the metal arm to fix this permenantly

    Glad I could help! I tried to figure it out for a good 20-40 minutes before I thought to check inside the steering column to see if I could get the key out that way. Due to the lack of videos on here explaining how, I figured I'd post one for other people in my situation. And the battery. Had no idea it was behind the passenger's seat in the floor until I took it to a shop. What a strange place for it.

    Thank you for the video. My genius wife came home last night with a car load of groceries. Well, she decides that she wants to keep her music on whilst unloading the car. That's understandable, I guess. So, she turns the engine off but doesn't turn the key all the way off and take it out. Instead, she turns the key to the back but doesn't remove it. That way, when she opens her door, the radio does lose power. Anyway, she brings the first load of groceries inside and gets sidetracked while inside. As I'm sure you know, after so many minutes of the car being off the radio, turns off automatically. About 20 minutes later, I ride up on my Harley. Assuming that she wouldn't do something so foolish I grab the remaining groceries and close the rear hatch. There they sat all night. The next day, she goes to leave and guess what? Yep
    It's dead! So your video was very helpful.

    I had the same issue on my 2010 Enclave. Popped the top cover off the steering wheel column. Reached down and pushed in the Solenoid and the key came right out as shown in the video. I did not have an issue with the right blinker, windows or battery. The FIX I did that seemed to solve the issue again was - sprayed a few shots of WD-40 in the button on the shifter. These buttons can get gummed up over time. After a few minutes to let the WD-40 work, problem SOLVED, key comes right out. Hope this helps

    Thank you SO much, great video, I am going to see if it works on my Acadia..... and then take it to GMC dealer, for an experiment. THey will doubtless know this fix, but will they tell me, or tell me to bring the car in for 200 dollar or more fix.

    • @grandmarkdc6298
      @grandmarkdc6298 5 років тому

      Sadly the ACADIA does not work like this, at least I can't pry off that top piece! And it's not a 200 dollar fix, it could be 500! Car is in shop now. I like the Acadia, bought it used, but if you EVER buy one, before you sign for it, make the dealer agree to pay the cost 2 things 1) the cost of a stuck key, 2) the cost of replacing head lights or turn signals. They may not agree to pay it all, but to get the sale, I found they WILL agree to wave the labor, and just charge for parts, for a specific issue. I have bought dozens of cars in my life, and wish I had known this "hack" before. It does have some effect at dealerships, but you won't get this from car lots. Dealerships will make the deal on a specific thing like this, but to cover more, you will need to buy a crazy expensive warranty plan -- which does not cover much when you need it, because of their tricky fine print about "worn" parts.

    Thank you for this video. I had a problem where I could not turn the key all the way to the off position so the accessories would not shut off and the battery would drain. I bought a new key cylinder and that didn't fix it so I bought a new ignition switch and that didn't fix it either. It turned out to be the Chevrolet Malibu Shift Interlock Solenoid. I replaced that and everything worked again. it was a 2003 car with over 200,000 miles.

    • @scott8887
      @scott8887  7 років тому

      Yeah we had a lot of problems with ours, too. Power steering would be intermittent (fortunately, dealer covered the expense), and finally the engine died because it mysteriously lost all of its oil within a month or so of changing it. No evidence anywhere of a leak, yet somehow it ate through the whole sump in such a short time. Definitely won't be getting another one!

    • @buster187kid1
      @buster187kid1 7 років тому

      Ya I'm having the same problem and I have to push that solenoid to get my key out. So if I change out the battery r u saying that I should not have push that solenoid any more? Cause one that went out on me my windows don't work. So I wondering if it's loss of power?

    • @scott8887
      @scott8887  7 років тому +1

      Deshaun Combs it's hard to say. If your battery is dead and none of the electronics work in the vehicle, then replacing the battery should take care of all of that. If it's only some of the systems not working, it could be anything from a blown fuse to bad wiring or a number of other things.

    • @buster187kid1
      @buster187kid1 7 років тому

      Lee Carter that's the problem I can't find any blown fuse or anything. I Really don't won't to take it to the dealer cause I will pay out of the ass. Ugh this car!

    Great video, Thanks !
    I have a 2007 Chevy Equinox, and the key gets stuck every now and then. Here's How I get around it:
    I just keep clicking the button on the gear shift lever repeatedly. When you keep depressing the button on the shift lever, you can hear "clicking" at the steering wheel post. I usually have to click the button about 10 times or so, and it releases the key.
    This used to drive me crazy until I figured that out. Chevy has a known problem with this and won't recall it, damn them.
    Thx !

    • @scott8887
      @scott8887  7 років тому +2

      Problem with that is (if I'm not mistaken) it still requires that the car has battery power to make that solenoid release the key mechanism. If it's dead, the method in the video is the only way to do it.
