Hinge-Cut? Plant Shrubs!--How To

Short video this week explaining how we use our cuttings to create browse in hinge cut areas or clear cuts. We used dappled willow, hybrid willow, and hybrid poplar cuttings for this project. I would also recommend using silky dogwood in the mixture and red osier dogwood in lowlands, swamps, and wet areas. The downed tree canopy creates a natural cage around the cutting that will protect it for at least the first growing season before the shrub takes over. Add these shrubs/trees to your spring orders to easily add tons of browsable material to your hinge cuts to create a deer bedding sanctuary!
