- I've gotten a lot of requests for this week's video. I travel to a local silky willow hedge that a previous employee installed himself. Double staggered row and used 6' wide ground fabric. The screen is 12-14' tall and 15' wide. This is a 5 year old screen that needed some of the old limbs removed to promote new growth from the base! Enjoy!

well done! I have apple, plum, tamarak, red willow and white cedar to plant this year from yellow river nursery, so maybe ill wait till next year.
Store will be open January 1st, 2024! Thanks for watching!
That's impressive!
thats a nice hedge
I've been thinking about planting silky willows, just wondering how long they hold their leaves as I'd like something in Mid-Michigan to be able to hold until mid/late November.
Hi Greg, we have seen them hold their leaves till Mid November here in Wisconsin!
Can you do a vid . For pockets of cover? Different plants to plant
That will be in an upcoming video! But check out one our original videos about which cutting is best for you. We explain what each cutting can offer for your property!
Can you forestry mulch it at 5 years and restart the process? Or will that kill them?
I would try to select harvest the large, old growth and leave the new young shoots for next years shrub. But if the county/road workers were to mulch the shrubs in the winter, they should come back that next spring because the have an extensive root base!
@@big_rock_trees I was thinking with two rows you could mulch one and leave the other and end up mulching a row ever 2-3 years to keep a thick screen but also giving room for new shoots. That's for the video!!
@@danielhines145I think that would work. 👌🏼
