    These grips are great. I’m not sure about the rattling cited by other riders after install. Mine don’t make any sound and they went on fairly easy. I had to loosen up more than I wanted to on the hand controls on both sides for them to seat properly, but the finished product is nice

    I installed these on my low rider s with lucky Dave’s bars and I had to move the whole control over for it to fit right. I like them and they fit my hand better but the bar is stepped and after I moved it to fit it exposed where the step is. Not sure what I can do about it

    One thing that drives me crazy is that these instructional videos never show the torque specs or use a torque wrench. You should use an inch pound torque wrench, give the specs and show how to use one. A novice mechanic may strip out all those bolts. Also, you didn't 'mention anything about blue lock tight, would you recommend it? I use it on all nuts and bolts especially on a Harley where some can really shake a lot. The other thing that drives me crazy is that no one gives the outer dimensions of the grips. I can't stand a thin grip and I'm currently looking for over sized fat leather grips for my bike, but from just photos on the internet I can't tell which grips are thin and which are fat. I have big hands and can't really use a thin grip without hand fatigue. I have fat leather grips on my Dyna and want to find a similar grip for my Fat Boy. You should get a caliper, measure all your grips at the spot where your hands grab them, then update all your ads. I'd bet you'd sell more grips that way.

    Great information, but how does the diameter of the grip compare to the stock one? Thanks.

      JTN did you get the info you needed on the install? I found it easier to do on the new softails. Especially with the plug and play available wires nowadays.

    hey from Canada whats the point of the pinch clamp left side if the clam shell locks it on

    • @jpcycles
      @jpcycles  4 роки тому

      the clam shell isn't that great as far as clamping power. The pinch clamp keeps you from twisting the clam shell housing

    I can install bar end mirrors with the fly by wire grip?

    • @jpcycles

      No the sensor in the right bar end would prevent that.

    Just installed my Alumicore grips and honestly wish I would have just left my stock ones on. They have a bit of rattle to them and are chinche as fck! The thin anodized coating comes off really easy and I haven’t even ridden with them yet.

    • @aidanvinum
      @aidanvinum 3 роки тому

      Paul Mears can you still add grips without these alumicore things first? Or need something to go on first?

    • @paulmears825
      @paulmears825 3 роки тому +2

      _ Alumicore is just the name of grips that Biltwell makes. For this reason even some of the cheaper grips Biltwell makes are better than these just for the simple fact that the inner slider (which basic rubber grips don’t have) are made of aluminum and once installed just rattles and feels like shit and makes a lot
      Of noise. If your going to install new grips just purchase some vans cult, Biltwell Kung fu, something like that if you want to save money there really inexpensive and will work just fine. If you want a nicer grip Arlen Ness makes some solid grips and affordable prices. There are a ton of brands out there honestly really just comes down to preference. What would really be worth to upgrade is the throttle tube. You can pick one up on SpeedkingsCycles. Or Imzz’s for Dyna’s or new softail models and this will improve the throttle by wire itself. Then of course you would need to also pick out your new grips. Install on all this is supper easy

      Paul Mears Great advice and info. I own a 2019 street bob and need some lane splitting attack bars ( I don’t want a dyna bro vibe, more like chopper lane splitter), do yo recommend a site for that? So hard to find .

    You should have put the tiny piece of cardboard in place to protect the front brake tab from possibly getting broken.

    • @michaelwalker3920

      Jack R. You have to slide the brake lever/mirror mount and the switch housing a little bit down the bar and it will tighten up everything.
