Carnival Sunshine "Captain's Suite" 9115 Tour

- A tour of the best cabin on the Carnival Sunshine cruise ship... cabin 9115, one of two Captain's Suites onboard. This is the largest cabin on the ship and also features the largest balcony. This suite has a living room, a bedroom, two bathrooms, two televisions, a wardrobe area with closets, and large picture windows with an amazing view. The large balcony has padded outdoor furniture and is wind protected by large glass windows at the front and side.
This cabin is located at the far forward end of Lido deck, directly above the ship's bridge. It did not originally exist when this ship was the Carnival Destiny. The "Captain's Suites" were added during the 2013 refurbishment when the ship was transformed in to the Carnival Sunshine.
You may be wondering if the "Captain's Suite" is where the Captain of the ship sleeps. No, the Captain has a cabin just behind the bridge on deck 8. In fact, you can look in to his cabin window from the balcony of 9115... since the balcony of 9115 sticks out past the side of the ship.
The cost of the Captain's Suite is approximately three times that of a standard balcony cabin. It was fun to experience it once, but certainly not an expense I could justify for every cruise. It could make an awful lot of sense for a family, though... because of three beds (one in its own bedroom), two bathrooms, two televisions, and a bathtub that would make washing the kids a lot easier than trying to do it in a cruise ship shower.
It is also a very quiet cabin... with no noise sources nearby. However, the air conditioning system is VERY noisy! We just turned it off except for when absolutely needed.
If you think this suite is great, you should also check out a video I made about another amazing cruise ship cabin I stayed in: • Norwegian Getaway Have...
We were fortunate to stay in the Captain's Suite on the Sunshine in 2014. It was very spacious. I loved the spacious balcony and having 2 bathrooms.
That couch and carpet is HIDDEOUS!!!
I know it looks that way in the video... but when you're actually in the room, all you notice is the amazing view out the big picture windows and how much larger the suite is than most other cruise ship cabins you've ever been in. I got over the orange color scheme pretty quickly once I was in the room and having fun.
We LOVE cruising and we love the Carnival Magic! Great job!
I would sleep outside on the balcony 😅. Beautiful room
Meeee to...
Beautyfull Hearts I just came home from a Carnival Cruise 2 weeks ago and we had a regular balcony room and I still slept outside on the balcony every single night. It was amazing!
You missed it back in 2013
I hope you’re not sleep walking. That would suck.
Lol I'd be afraid of waking up in the ocean
Thanks for posting this, Rev. Jim.
I was in that exact room for an 8 day cruise to italy on my birthday! Ah the memories.
How much was it?
It costs $8,500 for an 8 day cruise per 2 people
TheoYT it isn't eight grand per eight days that's cheaper then a regular suite
RandomTube NOT-HD a normal suite is about 1,000 dollars to 1,500 not even close to 8 grand
This is the biggest cruise room I've ever seen
Take a look at the Garden Villas on norwegian cruise line. Much larger than this.
Get the Grand Duplex suite on the Queen Mary 2. 2 floor room and some great stuff.
Mary is right! The Garden Villas on Norwegian Cruise Line are probably the #1 most amazing cruise ship suite. I had a tour of one a couple of weeks ago. I am setting a personal goal to stay in one... someday!
Not if you stay in The Haven!
The Haven is where it is at. Been on 4 NCL ships and stayed in the Haven. Best deal if you want to be treated like royalty.
Wow Jim! It was so enjoyable to watch your video. Will never be able to stay in one but it was fun to see through your eyes. Hope you and your wife had a wonderful trip! Thanks for posting the video :)
This cabin is an incredible layout, all they have to do is keep it renovated and it' s a winner for as long as the ship remains in their fleet.
I'd love to see the room that the real captain gets!
Just stayed in that room on a 8 day cruise. nothing has changed lol. the private deck makes the whole thing
Absolutely beautiful thanks for sharing
We were in the similar suite on the Carnival Glory this past December and it was awesome. The fact we had my 88 y/o father in law made this choice mandatory and we’re glad we all went and chose the suite! And yes, the sofa does have a sleeper bed, too!
Your stateroom was beautiful, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the video! I will be staying in this room at the end of January. I so can't wait!!!!
Thankyou so much for the tour.. Loved it.. Never be able to afford it but loved it lol..
just amazing, beautiful
Thanks Jim that IS VERY COOL. I must give the captains suite a try one of these days. It definitely looks worth it. We like to pend alot of time in cabin.
amazing! Thankyou for sharing!
Love room tours. Amazing room. Thanks for sharing!🚢
That room is awesome
Thats wonderful ❤️
Another great review thank you, also shared it with out FB group
Thanks for sharing!!
You have a great voice for narration. You could do it for a living if you don't already.
I perfectly project me on the balcony, sipping my coffee in the morning...
Thanks for the video. Nice job!
Never been on a cruise, your videos have been really helpful on looking into trips! Thank you
I had the good fortune to stay in the suite 2 years ago with my daughter. The cruise was from Barcelona to Venice. There are two Captain's Suites. This one is on the starboard side.
My family, 5 of us, are thinking about booking this room in November. It's great to see it in video form, thanks!
Wow that is one beautiful cabin. I bet you and your wife had an amazing time
This exact cabin 9115. Was also shown in photographs on Cruise Critic. Very cool
Fantastic views,
That’s an amazing room
Thanks for the video
great video I am sold!
Great video...Looking at booking this room in the fall....Thank you
I was on there twice! Such a great ship. Amazing so nice! I love your suite so lucky :D
This is just beautiful and that view from the living room and balcony is amazing and breathless.
That is awesome , great video :)
This is by far the largest cruise room I've ever seen, i really hope and pray that will travel by cruise ship soon and in some years to come, am really looking forward to it.
If you had to be quarantined on that ship, that’s where you’d want to be. We were in a Crown Loft Suite on Allure back in 2014, and boy if the quarantine on the ships had happened at that time, I wouldn’t have minded as much being in there🙂
I was at the royal loft suite in the anthem of the seas and I loved it
Nice!!!!
Nice!
wow this room is insane! i almost don't even want to know how much you paid for this cabin or how fast you had to book it since there's only 2 on the ship. i LOVE the windows.
Hi Jim, enjoyed your reviews on cruise critic, glad you enjoyed the allure. Kind regards Ian
Dang! Nice digs!
very nice suite! One day hubby and I will slurge on the captains suite.
Stayed in this suite in February 2015. Nice suite, excellent balcony! Hated the rest of the ship, so chopped up. First and last Carnival cruise.
I love..one day i will book to suite
I went on sunshine last year, nice boat
very nice!
Thank you for the very informative tour. I know what room I'm booking!!
Those two big windows in a force 10 storm... O.O The dream is real. (Until I probably fall over)
Thank you for the video this is one more reason I have to keep looking for a 2nd job this lady I'm talking to I would love to book the room you have. Thanks again for sharing
cool video!!!
I would order nonstop margaritas and lounge with a book on that balcony.
cindy pattana, yeah... then throw up over the rail!
cindy pattana I would order non-stop girls and Lounge in every room lol
But it's Carnival
You should do a packing and unpacking video. And how you keep things so neat. My husband and daughter like to make it a struggle for me. LOL
good info thanks sir
Great video. My wife said we must get this room.
amazing the room the only cons if any rough sea, is a nightmare in a room that high. :)
I'm Loyal to Royal lol, never liked Carnival, but I have to say, this is a nicely laid out stateroom, and very tastefully designed.
eots44 Ive worked for both, and Carnival is awful. A joke. The industry people call them the ‘K-Mart of cruise lines”. Very apt.
Wow!
I need to book this room next time
sweet
Great balcony and view .if I had the means of go with the biggest one .ad ling as it was not a lot of noise surrounding it .of course with the a.c. on probably wouldn't here anything else anyway.
Nice tour. My cabin will be closet size when I travel this summer. :(
I was searching for a video to see where the captain sleeps !
He has his own cabin/office directly behind the navigational bridge, which is directly below the suite you see in this video.
@@JimZim thank u
Yeah, same with me. But, this was a very interesting video.
Oh my gosh this room is insane !!! Sharing this video with my wife
Nice
Hopefully the wifi is fixed by now. Thanks for posting
nice
brilliant video by the way forgot to mention that in my last comment sorry
You must be really lucky to have scored a room like that!
I felt fortunate to be there, that's for sure!
When you were touring the bedroom part of the cabin I noticed on the TV that the date was 12/21/13. I was on the cruise directly after you! Great tour. Did you have a good time?
Thanks for sharing! Any tips on getting the best price for this suite? Thanks!
omg this view is fantastic...how much is this ?
wow Im sure the price is absurd but just the fact that you have a private bedroom would so make it worth it, we cruise with two teens so much for privacy
Just a normal average cabin would do me. The beauty is in the cruise.
Wow!! That is a sweet cabin Jim! I’ve only been on Carnival Conquest but if you don’t mind me asking how much was it for that suite?
This was a cruise I did seven years ago, so I don't really recall. It was certainly less expensive than some of the high-end suites on Royal Caribbean... but then again it was definitely the most expensive suite on Carnival Sunshine.
The question probably shouldn't be "what did this cabin cost you seven years ago?" The question should be "what would this cabin cost me a year from now?" (High-end suites like this usually book up far in advance, so it's a good idea to think ahead for something like this.)
To find the going rate, you could go to Carnival's web site and do a mock booking. What you are looking for is known on the booking engine as a Captain's Suite. I don't believe it will even show up as an option unless you are logged in as a VIFP member.
I did a mock booking for a 5 day cruise on Carnival Sunshine next January, and it was $4503 for the suite. The price will definitely vary depending on what time of year the cruise is. For example, during summer months it will go for a lot more.
Thanks for the info!
I would have thought the architects and ship builders could have thought up the idea of double flooring the front and carried the balcony right around over the bridge so you could also sit outside with the front view over the bridge as some ships have got cabin balconies over the bridge all be it one deck up but its not impossible to do my suggestion as no-one can gain access to the bridge so it would be quite safe I would have thought it was possible to do a balcony like this so it would be a walk around balcony and would have had room then for a jacuzzi
That carpet is very hard on the eyes
I know it looks outdated in the photos. When I was actually there, though, the carpet and the couch were not the focus of attention. Your eyes are actually drawn to the amazing view out the windows. I never gave the couch or the carpet much thought when I was there. But in the photos, they do catch your attention!
It might not even look like that anymore. I shot this video over 7 years ago. They may have totally refurbished the suite since then.
@@JimZim I hope so!
If I had room I think I'd never leave it.
my family almost got this room but i accidentally refreshed the page and someone had already bought it :( we went for carnival sunrise grand suite instead😂
Can you do a time lapse of a cruise in this room?
wheee im staying here my next cruise!
edit: for those wondering, they did change the carpet
It's bigger than my entire apartment. BTW, sounds like air circulation constantly going. Bit noisy. Is it ever an issue?
If you turn the air conditioning off and then come back to the room later and it's way too hot and you have to turn the air conditioning up to quickly cool the room... yes, it's incredibly noisy. In other words, at the highest setting, it's like a jet engine, it's so noisy! But if you just leave the air conditioning always on at a lower level, it's not objectionable.
I don’t really spend much time in my cabin! So may things to do on a cruise!
Wow ~ how much are these cost?
That is the future
Not yours..
skirm123 wow, that was a little depressing 😂😂
skirm123 damnnnnn that hurt
As I understand it, you must first book a full suite, then later you may be able to upgrade to this, correct?
No. You can book it directly, on their web site. That's exactly how I ended up in it. I simply booked it.
Unlike the Norwegian, The only thing it is missing is the jacuzzi on the deck. But unlike the Norwegian it has a jacuzzi tub and two bathrooms. Was this cabin bigger than the Norwegian pearl you featured on a vidio for $1,600 a night ? If you had to choose would you be the Norwegian pearl or this one here?
This would be good for what my family likes to call “parasite” cruises 2-4 people stay in a balcony or a suite then everyone else gets a inside cabin and we all enjoy the one big cabin
I am booked in Cabin 9115 for an upcoming cruise in January. I was unable to get the captain's suite on the port side, as it is already booked. I know this sounds like a petty question, but I want this cruise to be picture-perfect: Do you believe the port-side cabin is a better experience than the starboard-side cabin?
Port side, starboard side... it really doesn't matter much. You'll enjoy it.
Jim Zimmerlin, thank you for your response.
Thank you for the tour. Your suite is amazing ^_^
How much does wifi run on the ship? Nice room, love the windows and the balcony. Nice video. Cheers!
viewtube If you take a look at help.carnival.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1152 they explain all the options for wi-fi.
Thank you, Jim! Will check that link out. Appreciate the help. Godspeed! :)
Carpet and couch were popular in 1972.
It's been several years since I made this video. They may very well have completely remodeled this suite by now. Cruise ships do refurbishment quite often, when the ship is in dry dock for regular maintenance. But I should also mention that when we were staying in that room, we hardly noticed the carpet and couch because your eyes are drawn to the views out the big picture windows. We liked the suite a lot, and the out-dated color scheme was barely a concern at all.
That looks awesome. Must cost an arm and leg.
We just booked there for 3 people, 5,000$
@@TheUnknown-cf6rh $5000 each? For how long? As that sounds so cheap
Computers have junky antennas on their wifi card. Definitely get an Alfa usb wifi, real antenna on it, solid signal anywhere in the cabin.
How much was it to get the captain suite? My fiancé and I want to have that for our honeymoon next year
