I have experienced the Vortex sound occasionally on some NCL cruises. The maintenance staff was baffled by the source after attempting to affect the noise. It was challenging to sleep when the air system was active. I was able to determine the source of the problem. The adjustable air vent inside the shower was turned too tightly so the opening was almost fully closed. This resulted in air rushing through a small opening and making sounds like an airplane taking off. I was able to turn the cover a bit and the noise was eliminated. Keep this in mind for your next adventure on the seas!
That painting is a bird of paradise. It's the official flower of the city of Los Angeles. They are everywhere in Southern California. I cruised on the Carnival Magic in 2017 with extended family and friends. It was fun!
The Painting is a painting of the tropical flowering plant known as A Bird of Paradise, the plants natural location is South Eastern Africa, but also does very well in Southern Australia.
We have only ever cruised with RC, and since the year 2000. We do 2 per year and the worst room we’ve ever had was a porthole room our first cruise on the Monarch. Since then our accommodations and excursions have been wonderful, only hampered occasionally by weather. Never had the desire to try Carnival, but Princess is on our bucket list.
Most useful comment was about the electrical plugs. Regardless of cruise line or location or cabin type it is defo necessary to bring a variety of plugs. We have found German type plugs hidden behind beds for example. I carry specific plug adapters for specific regions, ie OZ/NZ adapters for our cruise last month LA to Sydney and NZ. These are cheap and simple to carry but it can be infuriating if you forget them.
A lot of people complain about sounds, but a small white noise machine takes care of that, and you get some great sleep. We love using our when we travel.
You can just use an app on your phone, too. Also, earplugs are a must. However, you don't want to use earplugs all night long... they've been linked to tinnitus. 😫
Love watching these. We usually sail interior cabins and my favorite so far is an Edge class Celebrity ship Deluxe Interior. Large cabin and bathroom. Usually we will split the bed into twins if the orientation is bed at the end of the room - having that aisle between beds made it much easier to maneuver. Next cruise is 14 days in Alaska in an interior on the Celebrity Summit - another adventure awaits.
My wife and I were blessed to book 2 Carnival Cruises (one 7 night & one 10 night ) with inside cabins comped (haven't cruised in 15 years) and since they are older ships, the size of the interior cabins are bigger then the regular staterooms of the newer ships. With taxes, port fees, insurance, pre paid tips, came to right around $2K for everything.
We always choose the inside cabin in order to take more cruises and have $$ for excursions. But I carefully select a mid-ship location now that I know better. And not near any noise. We’ve been perfectly happy in a cocoon type area. No sunlight to wake us up early! Very quiet and private.
"Fancy dress" is costume in American English. I recognized your Thelma (from Scooby Doo) fancy dress from previous videos. The painting in your first cabin is of a Bird of Paradise flower. It's tropical but does grow in Florida.
The bathroom on the Azamara ship looks *exactly* like the bathroom in the cheap cabins on some of the overnight ferries in Scandinavia. I like to joke that you could, ahh, relieve yourself, shower, and brush your teeth, all at the same time.

A few weeks ago I went on my first cruise, it was on the "Allure of the Seas" to the Bahamas and Coco Cay. This channel is part of the reason I decided to go. I really enjoyed it, and those ships are amazing. So... next June I'm going to be making my way across the country to Seattle and will be sailing to Alaska on the Anthem of the Seas!

I stayed in an inside cabin on P&O Arcadia last year and was pleasantly surprised by the space! It had a similar dressing/storage area as at 9:14 and the bathroom was very similar to 1:36 - though with heftier toilet paper! I've definitely stayed in smaller hotel rooms so it was a great wee cabin as far as I was concerned.

Hard to think of 2000 tellies as being “old-fashioned” - until I turned ten, our only tellies were black and white, so a colour telly was the equivalent in those days of a teleportation device - so, here in 2024, referring to a 2000 telly as the equivalent of a gramophone probably seems rather odd to a 60-year old geezer like me!
We have gotten so ridiculously extravagant since 2015 that even normal things now seem outdated. Look at cars: Now basic, entry-level models all have keyless entry, power windows, A/C, heated seats, automatic transmission, cruise control; all the bells and whistles luxury cars featured a decade or two ago.
5:16 After 26 years in the submarine service. My idea of small may differ from others. Also, as others have said, get a small white noise machine. Further fun fact; the submarine's ventilation system muffles noise in a similar manner. So much so that if the ventilation stops, we wake up, because something is about to happen.
Painting is of tropical flower called Bird of Paradise. I actually would have felt very at home in that room, although hearing the music would have been an issue for sleeping.
Yes the Azamara bathrooms ,even the outside cabins have small bathrooms. And small showers which can be handled quite well. It all depends on how you deal with the shower curtain. Magnets are the secret.
My first 2 cruises were inside rooms, the next two were ocean view, and since then it’s been balcony only. I love having a balcony room and we always pick the middle section. We are budget conscious in other areas, during our cruise.😊

Congratulations - you not only managed to enjoy your cruise in this tiny cabin but to present it on video as if it was an open space palast. You really do have a talent for "spotting details" but do not get carried away with being too picky. After all, like with everything in life - you get what you pay for. Hopefully - at least.
The last ship I worked on the TP was actually thinner. So thin is had as many holes than solid parts. More of a net made of paper. Good old US Navy issue.
Those paintings are of a plant called Birds of Paradise. I first saw this plant in Los Angeles, California and thought it only grew there. Years later I bought my home in Florida and found a garden filled with this beautiful plant and have them to this day. They grow about three feet tall in large clusters and put out the amazing flowers all year long if given regular sun and water.
Taking another Carnival cruise in a few weeks. Our second. Looking forward to the hamburgers! Had an MSC cruise last year, our first, and was very disappointed in so much. Not an MSC fan but Carnival, older ship and all, is far more favored by my wife and I. @@EmmaCruises
That IS definitely a Bird of Paradise Flower (Strelitzia reginae). It is actually a beautiful flower, and seen in many ports. I think it is the official flower of Los Angeles, CA US. It symbolizes joyfulness, paradise, freedom, anticipation, and excitement. Basically it symbolizes a cruise. Of course they grow poorly in the UK, as they need lots of sunlight. :)
Great video. I always book the cheapest cabin and it is usually the inside cabin. The flower paintings are 'Birds of Paradise.' Anyone with tinnitus will recognize the a/c sound. Costumes a) Velma Dinkley; b) Ginny Weasley, or Lily Potter, or Hermione Granger (depending on your level of haircolour blindness🙂); c)Avril Lavigne. Video and trivia, great!
In Europe those ‘bird of paradise’ flowers are called ‘Gladioli’ . A type of orchid .. My gran used to like them a lot .. they’re not only striking and colourful, but quite big too .. no more botany from me !! 😂😂..
I'll be honest .. I have no trouble staying in a small cabin as .. if I'm on a cruise .. I am there to enjoy myself with the entertainment on the ship and at stops. The cabin is a nice spot to sleep, wash up, change clothes and such .. privately .. so I need just enough to feel comfortable and do exactly that. That maximizes the value I get.
Great Vlog Emma. So interesting to see the inside smallest cabins. Oh wow the Azamara cabin sound you had was really annoying. Ambassador certainly looked tired and dated
I made the ship for royal Caribbean and I will get the other ship soon. Did you see that the Francis Scott bridge fell and did you see the Second Carnival Freedom fire in 2 years ( I went on the Carnival freedom in November of 2022
I have been on a few cruises and must say I would rather spend the money on trips and booze than a larger cabin. As long as the bed is comfy and there isn’t too much noise I am happy. Also I don’t bother with windows too much. I like the absolute dark when you shut your door.
Stayed in an inside cabin on the stationary Queen Mary at Long Beach CA. I’ve never known such inky blackness when the lights go out. I couldn’t do it again.
My husband and I did inside staterooms on 3 of our 10 cruises. I used a scooter for those, and we ended up in VERY nice rooms. The first was on MSC Divina and we got a double width room with ample room for me to park my scooter. I later ended up in an inside stateroom on Carnival with my son and husband and my scooter blocked the entrance to the room and once we had the beds set up, it was like a teen and three adults sleeping in a slightly larger king bed. Most of the inside staterooms you were in would be perfectly fine for me and my husband, but we've decided we like having somewhere in the room to sit, so future cruises will always be in balcony staterooms.
I've done 2 Carnival 3-nights and one Royal Caribbean 4-night and never had so much fun in my life. Had outside cabins but only a tiny, tiny porthole window, but you're seldom in your cabin anyhow. If I wasn't scared of that puke virus I'd jump on another cruise.
Norwegian has solo cabins with the phones mounted on the wall. Seeing that made me wonder, with table/desk/counter space so lacking in most cruise ship cabins, why aren’t all the phones wall mounted?
I'm actually doing an inside cabin on my next cruise, an NCL Alaska cruise. The price up to a balcony was hard to justify and they had some studio cabins available. I'm eager to try it for the lounge space/snacks.
I've been on rhe Magic 3 times and stayed in an inside cabin and it was great. I never payed attention to the colors because I didn't spend much time there. It was clean, comfortable and lots of closet space. I'd definitely do it again.

They grow about three feet tall in large clusters and put out the amazing flowers all year long if given regular sun and water.
Love that!! Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
Taking another Carnival cruise in a few weeks. Our second. Looking forward to the hamburgers! Had an MSC cruise last year, our first, and was very disappointed in so much. Not an MSC fan but Carnival, older ship and all, is far more favored by my wife and I. @@EmmaCruises
. the dbl painting is so classicly strange conversation . 😂❤
Emma is amazing
Right back at ya!!
That painting on the wall is a flower which is very common in my country!
The painting was a flower called Bird of paradise. It's usually found in tropical places like Hawaii.
That Carnival cabin . . . you get what you pay for!
Absolutely! Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
The painting is of a bird of paradise flower!
I believe the painting is of a Birds of Paradise flower
Yesss!!! Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
In Europe those ‘bird of paradise’ flowers are called ‘Gladioli’ . A type of orchid .. My gran used to like them a lot .. they’re not only striking and colourful, but quite big too .. no more botany from me !! 😂😂..
Haha, love it! Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
Love your posts Emma. Excellent 🙂🏴
Sounds good! 😁🥳
Great Vlog Emma. So interesting to see the inside smallest cabins. Oh wow the Azamara cabin sound you had was really annoying. Ambassador certainly looked tired and dated
Bit weird they didn't refresh it isn't it?! Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
As someone who spent years with a bunk under the 3 wire on a carrier, being under a bar sounds like a great night's sleep!
In the cheap one ...did you share a bed ?
Stayed in an inside cabin on the stationary Queen Mary at Long Beach CA. I’ve never known such inky blackness when the lights go out. I couldn’t do it again.
How long did it take you to film all of these cruises to put this video together? That's dedication!
About two years! 😂🎉
That’s a bird of paradise in the painting. Mexican plant.
Sounds good! 😁🥳 Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
Yay, a new video!!!
Woohoo! Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
Inside cabins at cruise ships have ventilation system ? These rooms have enough fresh air to breathe ?
Hey Emma! Awesome video.....as always!!! XXX
Thanks so much 🥹❤️
Norwegian has solo cabins with the phones mounted on the wall.
Ooo yes!! That'll be so good. Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
I've been on rhe Magic 3 times and stayed in an inside cabin and it was great. I never payed attention to the colors because I didn't spend much time there. It was clean, comfortable and lots of closet space. I'd definitely do it again.
The orange plant on the wall is a tropical flower.
Pretty! Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
