Thank you for all you do! That lake ride is spectacular! Those flowers are beautiful! I didn't realize you were so close to Cades Cove. I've been there 2 times! Beautiful area! God bless you and yours ❤🙏🙏❤️
Please pray for me. I had a stroke Tuesday. I am home now.
I'm praying for your speedy recovery❤❤❤
I'm so sorry. I will pray for you!!
Prayers for you❤❤❤💥🙏💥
Praying 🙏
Sending prayers for a speedy recovery
Thank you Tipper and Corey and all your friends for taking us along on seeing living history of Appalachia!
Our pleasure!
So many people had to give up their homes, businesses, and land that had been there for generations for Fontana Dam and the lake. They were promised a road to get back to the cemeteries but that never happened. They started the Road to Nowhere even building a tunnel, but it was never completed, leaving the cemeteries isloated. The only way is by boat. Thank you Tipper and Don for the great video.
Tipper, this video was so good that I have watched it two times. Love the history of these forgotten communities. I hope you can do this again with Don, he is walking history book.👍
Camera work is excellent 👌
Glorious!!!! ❤. Although, when i saw that boat first going into the water, i thought Matt was finally going fishing. 😎
We call them bearded iris', Isn't it amazing seeing all the beauty God has made for us?!
It is amazing!
That's what we call them also
I could listen to this man tell history all my days! He really brings history to life! Thank you Tipper for sharing this wonderful his-storytelling! I remember a place like this while traveling through the Smokey mountains on my way to the Southern RR Spencer shops in Spencer NC.
Glad you enjoyed it
This is a really wonderful account of local history. It reminds me that this land has been inhabited by people for a long, long time. They had families, hopes, dreams, fears and joys just like us. It’s good to remember and walk with humility.
Thanks for taking us on the tour, Tipper and Corey. I had to go back and watch Heath the guide again, he was so excited about what he was showing you, and happy with the Proctor School picture.. He stopped and studied it some more with satisfaction, and then he and Corey pictured the kids running through there. I also teared up when you read the tombstone. And my Japanese Iris are purple.
Yea I rewatched also wasn't it wonderful to see someone get so excited?
I absolutely love the history that lies in old forgotten cemeteries
Thank you so much for sharing. I'm a Cable, my Dad was born on Cable Branch and went to Proctor School. He recently passed away and it was so nice to see your video and remember the stories he told of growing up there.
So glad you enjoyed it!! I’m sorry you lost him.
Oh what history and beauty. Watching the Eagle in flight... We are all so blessed to have people like Don and your channel, to continue such valuable stories of the people from days gone by. Videos like these are so special to watch when some of us can no longer take long walks, or hikes anymore. Lord knows I'm not complaining. I couldn't believe that Corie could do all that walking. I enjoy all your videos, but I especially enjoy your trips visiting the precious folks of Appalachia. Praying and Blessed! 🤗🙏💕🌄
Thank you Tipper and Corie for taking us along. That scenery is beautiful! 😍😍 Tipper also the tumor is back and a PET Scan has been scheduled for June 4th
God's healing hand be with you,Tammy 🙏🏼 in Jesus' precious name. Amen
@@EMBERS-BECAME-BRIGHT-JOY thank you 😊
I’m sorry to hear that. I will continue to pray for your healing!!
@@CelebratingAppalachia thank you so much!
I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a beautiful green in nature. The reflections on the lake are amazing.
Such wonderful history! There is something serendipitous about walking through a cemetery. I really enjoyed walking back in time with you guys! Thank you, Tipper!🙏❤️🇨🇦
It’s a Yellow Flag Iris. They are non-native and pretty invasive. But beautiful. Loved hearing the history of the area and going on the hike!
Beautiful history of Appalachia 🥰
What a great history field trip!
Glad you enjoyed it!
It is so refreshing to see that Heath is a younger person who is continuing to share this passion for History and nature discovery in the Smokys (like Corey and Katie). Younger versions of the Casada brothers and what they chose as hobbies and career avenues during their blessed lives in Swain County and the region. -- the area has several "outfitters" who focus on sports fishing, but Heath's opportunities will be so customizable and unique.
What a nice trip. I would love to visit there. Have a blessed evening. Prayers for Granny and Corie and all of you too!
Just Loved 💟this video….the history, the scenery, the cemetery, baptism area, school yard etc. Thank you bringing us along…wish I could’ve smelled the aroma that Tipper spoke of 😄.
I want to go there! What beauty, breath-taking. The old cemeteries make you feel a certain kinda way... how sweet life is, how hard, how beautiful. Thank you, Tipper! 🙌🏼 💞
Such a beautiful lake…enjoying this boating .
Tipper and Corie this was so wonderful i have watched this twice and will again to make sure I didn't miss anything. Thank you so much for taking us along with you. I would never have known any of this .
Tipper if he could make a series of videos showing in detail about all this wonderful history i know many would buy it. I would because i cant do the walking and traveling but would love to see the beautiful things and learn more. Maybe you can let him know people would love to hear him and see what he is talking about loved listening to him. Have a blessed day and please keep me in your all's prayers.
Sending prayers and hugs to Granny and everyone.
Corie love seeing you and your mom do these you always make me feel better 💙🙏🕊️🙏🌹
What a wonderful journey! Mr. Don is a fountain of knowledge. So many shadows of the past. Thank you Tipper and Corie…a great day!
Hazel Creek is one of the most wonderful places I've ever been in the Park. The lost history there is a whole "nother" story! Proctor Cemetery, gosh, I've been there as well just before Decoration Day many years ago. The rangers were cleaning it up to prepare for the ones coming to Decoration Day. Please do more of these when you can.
Loved this! I took every history class I could in college and would have loved to have had Don as a guest lecturer. He is so knowledgeable and interesting to listen too. Wonderful video!
Oh My Goodness; Boat and Water it’s Beautiful. I saw a platoon boat go my place Monday I said Take Me wit y’ll, lol nothing better than water and fishing wit gardening and your videos heha . Flowers they are blooming. Ty’s
This video is so good that I have watched it two times. I love seeing and learning about the forever lost communities . Don Cassada has so much historical information. I hope you can go there with him for another great video.
Glad you enjoyed it 😊
I have been to Fontana many times. ❤
I remember a little waterfall in one of those little branches.
What a wonderful visit, tears! Thank you-Thank you. God Bless All. 💚&🙏🙏. Jean
My grandparents lived in East Tennessee and we spent a lot of time in the park. It really was a second home. Those small cemeteries are all over West Virginia. We have one for my dad’s family and his cousins keep it up. I just love them.
As I always said ty for the invite
Yellow flag iris and it is invasive in wetlands all across North America. Beautiful scenery and narration.
My husband and I found one of those survey markers that had been overgrown along a marshy shoreline here on the coast of NC in Carteret county….we had to look it up as we didn’t know what it was…..We also have wild purple irises here in the wet wooded areas. Thank you for sharing contact information on the guide guy….we are excited about that! Also thank you and your entire family for sharing SO much and being such an inspiration…..ya’ll have improved and touched my life beyond measure …..so grateful…..😊🙏🏻❤
Thank you so much for sharing this with us! I reached out to Heath, he is great, very knowledgeable and loves to educate about the old days and area! We have a half day trip planned for June 15th! If any of your listeners are interested, we have room for more folks.
You are so welcome! I hope you have a great trip!!

Thank you so much for this wonderful video. My maternal great-great grandmother was Martha Loutricia Welch Coada (Cody), Cades Cove, TN...I hope to be able to really delve into genealogy someday soon. I so cherish learning more about the rich history of our culture. You are a treasure. Thank you again and God Bless ❤
Thank you for reminding of the way the lake was built and way the dam was made.
What a beautiful country God beauty everything is amazing thanks corie and tipper have a blessed Thursday everyone ❤️

Loving this trip! And the history of all you are sharing.
What a incredible history lesson. My husband and I enjoyed watching. Thank you so much for sharing.
What a beautiful area & so much history. All this could easily be lost.
Getting to hear the history of the "off the beaten path" areas is so very interesting. Thanks for taking us along Tipper and for sharing those links with us. Don Cadada's link is such a wonderful storehouse of information for anyone that loves local history or searching information about their ancestors!
Incredible scenery from the Fontana Lake!!
😊
I love these type of videos, the history and old gravesites were interesting. Mr.Don is a walking and talking history book. Thank you for sharing
This was a very nice virtual mini vacation. Beautiful area. Loved the "baptismal pool". I've always wanted to live by a clear creek. It will never happen, but it's nice to imagine.
Miss Tipper, I got choked up right along with you. I don't usually watch these vlog-style videos. But your whole family is like a glimpse into the best of what America is. Your loving kindness is so apparent, in all of you. Thank you for sharing this.
Thank you so much!
This was a cool trip thanks for sharing Tipper
Glad you enjoyed it 😊
This is a wonderful video; top notch. The irises you found are yellow flag irises; they grow in wet spots, and I have a big patch of them in my yard, in the ostrich fernbed. They just suddenly started growing there one year. They also grow in purple. Aren't they lovely? Thank you for taking us along on this adventure; I'm loving it.
Thank you for taking us along. Such great history there. It's amazing how nature just takes back over . Beautiful place. Yall have a blessed night.
I thoroughly enjoyed your trip ladies! Thank you so much for sharing. The yellow irises are known as Yellow Flag and several other names. I looked it up for you. According to the US Wildflower website, they were brought over from Europe as a decorative flower and they thrived in the wet lands. Even though I grew up in the Charleston WV area, I now live in northwest Indiana. My home is located in a county that has lots of small lakes and marsh land where I see these gorgeous little flowers that are blooming now. I noticed some were bloomed when I went out yesterday and passed the marsh just down from my house and thought, I need to bring my camera over here. I have also seen ones that are a deep purple or blue around water areas as well. Have a great day.
That's one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. Just stunning.
It really is!
Beautiful area great video thanks for sharing 👍👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Glad you enjoyed it!
This was such a pleasure to hear and see .I love this type of history ,it almost makes you feel like we were right there with y'all . Loved it , thank you Tipper and Corey ❤️❤️
What a wonderful tour thank you for bring us along🫂🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️
Oh what a beautiful outing. Thank you I really needed that today. I love the out doors yet it’s so much nicer when someone can tell you what your looking at. Y’all are just beaming with joy. I love wild flowers. If we were in a race you could probably win by saying oh look at that wild flower and I’d believe I won cause of Gods beautiful flowers. Those Grave stones are so precious Tipper I got teary eyed also. Thanks for letting us explore with y’all. Blessings and good weather to y’all.brooks Oregon
Love this history. It reminds me of family heritage in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. I have Welsh family as well.
Hi Tipper and Corie, Thank You so much for sharing the rich History of the Appalchian area. The Gentleman giving the tour has a vast knowledge of the area and I could listen to him all day. The area is so Beautiful . It makes me wish I were with Yall on the tour.😊❤🙏🏻
That was relaxing. Way to go Corie, proud of all that pregnant walking & hiking! You don't hear the name Heath much, my brother's name is Heath as well. -much love from NJ ~Mary & fam
That was Definitely Very Interesting!!! I Love History!!! Thank you Tipper for sharing it with us!!! God Bless Us All!!!
Glad you enjoyed it
Such beautiful scenery! And Don is so well versed in the history of the area. I could listen to him all day. Thank you for taking us along on this adventure.
Loved every minute of the video. The history & beauty. Thanks for sharing as always. ❤️🙂
Love hearing the history.
Beautiful scenery!
We call those, Louisiana iris in my area. it's amazing how mother nature takes back what is hers when we are gone.
Water iris? What a fun trip! Ty!
This was a great video with lots of history behind the community and beautiful scenery. So glad you took us along with you.
Thanks - nice hike and stories ,!!! 😁😁
Thought I might've seen some water skiing !!!😅😅😅😅
Beautiful trip. Loved every minute.
Those old graveyards are so interesting. Donnie Laws did a video showing some of these really old burial grounds and they were hauntingly beautiful..The reference to the water being run by gravity reminded me of a programme I watched a couple of years back. It was by an archealogical professor and she was explaining how the Romans were so clever with their irrigation systems.. She in fact, was the one to explain how the hanging gardens of Babylon were irrigated and the remains of them.
So interesting and I can’t believe Corrie walked all that way.
Love this video. My people are from all around that area. The Calhouns, Brooks and Proctors. Makes me so homesick. Absolutely loved this video. Thank you so much for sharing. God Bless
Glad you enjoyed it!
Beautiful scenery. Thanks Tipper. I love studying local history here in flat country.
We took a trip last week to Black Mountai, Craigmont Assembly. We took a drive on the parkway and really enjoyed it. Went also to Lake Lure and took a boat tour, really interesting.
Sounds like a great trip 😊
That’s incredible! Thank you! ❤️
I had some Japanese Irises that looked alot like those. Beautiful
😊 Those are pretty
Enjoyed all the history! Thanks for sharing this with us! Love Y’all! Love and Prayers Always
How this type video is my kind of Celebrating Appalachia! History and beauty ❤ (KH)
Fun adventure, such rich history. Thanks for sharing.
Love this lake, there's none prettier.
I loved the yellow flags & enjoyed the boat ride and hike!
The yellow flags are a non native Asian invasive plant.
The hills are beautiful!❤❤
What beautiful country!
Here in Tennessee we call the flowers Dutch Iris.I have them in my yard but they are purple.
Love that 😊
Glad you captured our local history. A lot of the old timers have passed away and taken the history with them.
Love the boat ride and all the lovely plants good trip glad you all enjoyed it i sure did God bless you all
Very interesting, and awe inspiring, I liked that tour, the hike through the woods took me back to my childhood, when my family members and me use to walk through the woods to visit other family members who did not live far.❤️🙂🙏
such a great video miss tipper.
i love seeing all the old places and grave sites. so sweet.
Hi Tipper! Is Don, Jim's brother? I enjoy all of your videos. I am in awe of the Appalachian history and way of life. God bless you all!!! ❤
Yep, he's my appreciably younger and less handsome (!!!) brother. Even though I'm a trained historian who spent a quarter century of my life as a university history professor, his knowledge of the Smokies in general and Swain County in particular is light years beyond mine (and anyone else alive today). Jim
@@jimcasada9668 Jim, would love to pick your brain further about the quill/jake rose place, and the time line on dates of ownership etc, if quill ever squatted after he sold to timber co, etc and any information past what’s in the pdf on friends of Bryson cemetery page. Hope to try to find his homestead site this summer
He is 😊 thank you
Oh my goodness! What a beautiful place. ❤
Thank you for taking us along with ya'll.
Hugs 🤗 and God's blessings 🙌
Beautiful video and especially loved the old cemetery. It is fitting that arborvitae trees are planted around cemeteries in the area. Arbor which means "tree", and Vitae which means "life" in Latin...so the old cemeteries had been planted with the tree of life :-)
Dad blame . Late watching again. Doing supper dishes . Beautiful country. How peaceful it must be.
This video was so interesting. I love hearing about the history of the area. So beautiful too. Corrie you are brave doing all that hiking...lol, but i can't say much, I rode horses till I was 8 1/2 months lol. Dr said if I was use to it it would be ok. He did tell me to stop at 8 1/2 months though. Thanks for taking us along...enjoyed the video❤
Don is so knowledgeable, very interesting! I wouldn't be able to make the hike, but it looks like it's just a beautiful area.
What a special walk. The flowers were so beautiful. Can't help but wonder if those yellow iris were planted by some homesteader years ago. Wish we could smell all the smells.
So glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for sharing this unique piece of history!❤️🙏
Remarkable history! I so glad we have folks to seek out this history.
Thanks so much for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it
