I bought a couple of folding key holders that look like that (think Covert Companion) and put all my Sparrows Coffin key jigglers, comb picks, wafer picks etc in em. Much better than the S-ring they came on.
I like the way it turned out, and as you said if you have the time and either spare picks or money then it's time and money well spent. Having something that you hand-crafted gives you that sense of pride that you just can't buy.
Brilliant work! You really excel at this kind of stuff!!! South Ord has replacement Jack knife picks for about 2.20 US and they are a fine source for picks to make your own Jack knife or a mod 😀 Great video!!! 🐈⬛🐾🐈🐾🇦🇺🍻👍👍👍👍
This definitely looks like a fun project, but since you personally helped Wendt design a jackknife pick set that is half as thick, less expensive and probably still a bit more usable, the fun of making it is in my opinion the only valid reason to do so.
Yeah, I sort of agree with you. Modding is great fun though and does allow you to customise tools to your own needs. For instance I could have kept a few of the original tools from the set in there and have some lock picks etc
@@LockNoob I like that idea! In an EDC lockpicking set, you might be satisfied with, say, two hooks and a rake, along with one or two tension tools, but keeping e.g. knife, saw and screwdriver from the original tool makes this a general purpose EDC kit that helps in many situations.
Well done! Great demonstration of how to improvise and modify existing things into a set of picks. However, impractical. You can save a lot of time and effort by simply buying "replacement picks" for jackknife picks. My recommendation would be just to buy a "Swick" jackknife that comes with 12 pick profiles, 6 different wipers, and 4 different TOK's, and everything locks in place solidly I more interested in what other blades the original tool came with. The one blade you showed looked like it might make a good door latch bypass tool.
Nice! I did purchase and did a couple of mods on a covert companion, but couldn’t figure out a way to get the picks to lock like you did. I actually (independently) also used those mini magnets to attach a turner. What was the tool holder that you started with? Great job!
I thought you would have copied the locking notch from the original tools, then they would have locked in a lot better like the original. Other than that good job.
Good question, genuinely. It’s mostly because my audience is multinational and a padlock by a big manufacturer is often more recognisable that a euro to more people. On a personal point, I just prefer picking padlocks as the shackle ‘pop’ is such a nice payoff 😀😀😀
I dicoverd lockpicking by randomly running over LPL but as a new lockpicker ( 3 locks in) i have found your easier to follow. I just orderd from SParrows lockspicks a set and som practice locks. I like that they give credit to the peopel who help design thier tools I went there after seeing th emonkeys paw lockpick on one of your older videos, thank you
You made your very own jackknife! Brilliant!
It's these low-cost, simple tool, how-to vids that really appeal to me as a locksporter. Lovely work Ash.

Fun to watch you doing this little project. The tension tool magnet idea is very cool.
🙂👍

Nice work! Great simple solution on how to incorporate turning tools. Very clever.

Looks great. Thanks for showing us how you did it, cheers

Great job!
Rumour has it that 5 minute crafts is going to test to see if this is possible
You are good in making tools and also good lock picking) That is fantastic tool
Love it im going to give it a try.where did you buy the picks you used?
Wendt from Germany

Nice review Ash mate 🇬🇧👊😎😊👍
Very clever
Love it.
Looks like a fun way to spend a few hours.
Also lock noob check out the covert companion by covert instruments. Much easier (but not cheaper). Lol😂
What is a good beginner Abus lock?
I have that multi tool. Carry it every day I'm going to have to do that to it
You know if u wanted to give that to someone I could be that someone lol haha thats so kool man
Is this the same bi bury that makes leatherman clones?
Almost certainly
Nice montage!
Really nice job:)

Other than that good job.
Not enough material on the picks I used, otherwise I would 😀
Another collaboration with the manufacturer than? 😊👐
I’m always open to that
Time, patience and money...you left out skill!
Link to where you can buy this multi-tool?
Amazon - search up the name of the manufacturer
Cool idea and you did a nice job but call me lazy, I'll buy one instead.
Very interesting
I really like this, but I'm curious what your actual cost ended up as!
Now this makes me want to try to make one! (From scratch)
I think it’s about £50 or so in total hard to say
You always try Padlocks ,why not use Euro Cyls for a Change

I would give you 60-for the diy kit of parts or 120 for the full build this is sick!
It would have been much, much easier to just get the Covert Companion from @lockpickinglawyer
