Thanks for the video man. I've been watching this for the last 2 days and trying to improve. I have gotten to the late game so many times with a massive lead as I love playing carry Naga. But then when it comes to ending the game I fail. So hopefully this helps me do that.
Man I have been watching your content for the past 2 years now and I cannot believe much I've improved at dota. I've been playing the game for almost 10 years but never really put in the time to actually learn the fundamentals, I used to just mindlessly click buttons and press R. I've gained 3k MMR since watching your stuff. 1.5k-4.5k. Still on the rise too. Thanks for all the effort you put into these man!
I will never understand that. You will, so you will die on lane 1v2 cuz your supp went to control active rune/wisdom, he told you to stay safe but he is muted, team wants to take the object together, and calling for you, but they are muted, you cant know whatcha need to do in every second, and team might help you, dont mute anyone untill they only sheettalk without any proper info, dota is team based game, for example i told my PA to buy nullifier instead of basher agains omniknight, and that won us the game eventually, cuz he didnt know bout this slot (4k btw)
@@ylitkovod You got valid points there. But in my region (SEA), toxicity is always present and it's not uncommon with your team mates, people here would rather talk crap about your advise than heed it. This happened to me numerous times, so I would say it could be dependent of where you are and what your rank is because the lower you go the more you'll see a lack of cooperation.
You won’t believe me. But I was Crusader and I got to Legend in like 2 weeks after I started muting everyone in the game. You do not need communication in low bracket, most of the time they are toxic and won’t say anything useful. Pro Tip: Don’t use the feature to mute them all by default, cause you’ll get a message letting you know that somebody is saying something every time anyone write anything. Instead mute them all one by one every game.
@@ylitkovodyou can still send out voice lines like "Roshan" and ping on the map. To see what your team is doing in low mmr you just need to check the minimap as often as possible and watch for their positioning/movement in teamfights. 9/10 times it's impossible to coordinate with your team properly, esp. Teamfights, so in my experience you're better off waiting for your team to start something and join in if it's a good fight. I didn't mute anyone for the longest time but figured out that 95% of communication is toxic/pointless/bad calls. When I mute everyone and make decision based only on my own perspective, I'm able to perform much better and more consistently
as an immortal player this video was pretty helpful, not only that, you nailed almost every single point on 0mmr-5kmmr. Like really really well thought out and you made a good video teaching players this.
Most definitely correct on those things, especially the laning stuff from my experience. Doing those small things makes you win lane 75% of the time in the low mmr but sometimes doing all these things just doesnt matter. Can play perfect but teammates do matter in the end and thats just dota. Why we've seen 10k mmr plus smurfs lose multiple games in a row in 1k mmr games. Good video 👍🏻
Hello Pain, I wanted to write you a sincere Thank You for everything you teach in your videos, I have watched many and my game skill has gone up so much that I have literally carried impossible games just by applying what you have said, I still am kind of bad but theres games where I've won just because I had these in mind, the thing I'm struggling with is to not stray off of my goals as a carry and keeping these things you teach in mind, but as long as you are keeping these things in mind you will eventually succeed or if not perform very well even if you lose a game. Thanks Man! God Bless.
In the first 20 minutes of this video I learned so much. 1. Aggro timer and range. Too often I’ve drawn aggro at the wrong time and wondered why it’s not up again. Also. Just the range helps. 2. lh is the most impottant. Very often I get a deny and it costs me a CS. 3. Starting items. Yeah it makes sense. I just often go brain dead and forget to do things in lane. Yknow? Like no matter how many pro games I watch and go “Yatoro didn’t buy….” But I forget myself. 3. The camp choice. Ididn’t even think about if I should farm ahead of or behind tower till you mentioned it. And I do shove waves and then farm camps. But I usually go to the small camp when Luna could get more from big and medium camps. I usually do small medium. 3. The goals as numbers. 2 camps 2 waves per minute is a nice target to have. And also. Just… I’ve been starting to understand the distinction between hero types (flash farmers like Sven and Luna who are my faves) and heroes who can’t flash farm (PA and Void who I’m trying to add to my pool). So to see clear numbers for each is nice
Solid video! Lot's of gems in here for people wanting to improve their game. The mute all at the end can save so much headache in the 2-4k bracket...honestly all mmr sometimes. shit can get so toxic. Just play your game the best you can, reflect on your decision making/choices. Glnext
I love this video. Because it has everything. I've played in every bracket from old 1.4k to 7k MMR. Each bracket has their own weaknesses. And you're spot on. But one weakness that every bracket that you somewhat missed is, they will always have except for some very high divine and low immortal, is the situational item and decision making. So many throws due to taking bad fights and bad late game builds. So much especially in completely 100% winnable game from ancient to divine. The one big counter to one of the best Meta hero, Windranger is nullfier. But almost no one bought them even for low immortals. They can have immaculate timing and understanding etc, but most have ego builds by not making bkb or very good counter items like nullfier.
I was a 4k player way back in 2020. Left the game and came back 2 months ago. I almost had no idea how to win lane anymore and I recalibracted to 2.1k but I did exactly what this guy told right here. I just shut my brain off and farmed better than my opponents. I would have 200 last hits in 20 mins while my opponents would have that much in 40 min game. I got to 3k in 1 week.
@@DIREKFILMRECAPS. I play in Sea server too. Very doable if you're PMA, mute entire enemy team every game and get meaningful practice to get better especially because carry is very last hitting reliant.
@@DIREKFILMRECAPS. That's exactly the kind of mentality that keeps you stuck in low rank. The last part of the video literally elaborates how not taking accountability of your actions and blaming your team is what keeps you from improving
i was a 4.5k player 2 years ago. i didnt give a shit about last hitting and only harassaed the enemy. i calibrated at 1k mmr and got back to 3k mmr in 3 weeks without being a farmdog
Hi i saw this vídeo 4x at this moment and i can say that you open my mind about play as pos1… i gained about to 500 mmr by just doing what you said. I’ll still trying my best to follow all guideline and maybe i’ll be Back next week to update my mmr just to put more reference. Thank you so much!
Hello Paindota, I watched the video and liked it, good overall explanations! I wanted to give you some feedback: 1. Minute 22:13 onwards you talked about farming patterns and it was a bit tough to follow, with arrows drawn on the map it would be a bit easier to follow which camps you directly mentioned. 2. I think also a very important point which most of the content creators don't talk about is: a.) when to join a fight (based on what terms) b.) and when to leave a fight, maybe you can address this in the future 3. I think another topic is not well talked about: camera movement -> the higher the mmr the better the camera movement is, maybe you can address this in one of the next videos with respect to: what to look at, what heroes you are waiting for to show in a teamfight, getting information using camera movement etc. Another aspect Iam interested in is also a similar guide to mid players because the farming pattern here differs a bit and is depending on e.g. other cores etc.
Paindota, I hope u notice this comment, I climb from 800 - 2,900 MMR by just muting Everyone by default. Toxic (Noicy Teamates will just ruin your game) 60-80Cs in minute 10 is a huge factor, and Yes When the lane is hard i just give up the lane and farm in tier 2, I Always Play Chaos Knight, When the lane is hard and when i reached Lvl 7 with Threads, a Gloves of haste, Bracer, I know i can farm ancient camps, So I take Farm there and use my Ult Off cooldown to boost the farm, and i set the Illusions to keys 2-3 when im lvl 12 because they have the same damage as me and It can farm lane creeps and Side camps at the same time while im farming in the ancients, Love your video bro im now grinding to Legend, im from 800MMR (Around June) now im now 2,900mmr
This may be the greatest and most systematic guide that I have ever seen, with good structure, reasoning and video examples. Thank you for making it. I appreciate it~! I know you said this video is for carry role. Do you have a similar video from you or someone else for the support role?
Tbh communications is the most important, is no longer a solo game that u can carry out solo . I can be the best of the best but I can't 1v9, 1v8 ,1v7 or 1v6, of course there special case u can do so but is not consistent. I always try my best to communicate with my team what I'm going to do or be kind to guide them what to do but also not try to TELL THEM WHAT TO DO. And sometimes even ward myself to feel safe to do anything. That's how I get up to immortal, and those who think immortal game is better than low rank... is not. I feel I enjoy playing below 6k mmr than I am now.
Very detailed and elaborative guide. But you forgot put into consideration the randomness of team mate you will get on low tier bracket. I was 5.4k on 2020, decided to stop playing and lending my account to my friend, somehow it ended up in 1.2k mmr. Then i decided to play again. Let me tell you a funny thing, climbing from 1.2 to 3k was such and agonizing and exhausting time. I spent like 6 months doing that. From 3k back to 5k was relatively a smooth sail. Why you may ask? It's because the randomness of team mate you get. Pos 5 that doesn't give a damn about whats happening on the lane and obly focus on pulling creep, pos 3 farmer that their understanding of dota is solely on getting items without delivering impact on clashes. Pos 4 bh, enchantress, weaver thats just basically a walking creep. Players who so easily gave up and afk at base(their mostly queue as core). It's easy to grasp the sense of purpose as pos 1 & 2. But for pos 3,4,5 as enabler, as facilitator, not many people can comprehend, especially in low mmr brackets, it was such hellish experience climbing from 1.2 to 3k. I was only able to do it with spamming sf, huskar and tiny.
To all people who think getting MMR is easy, sometimes you will play against a smurf, sometimes toxic players, and sometimes you won't be playing as good as you can, sometimes you will be tired, so think that you will win around 60% of your games so it will take time to get to 1k mmr or more, also focus in improving, to get inmortal it took me 3 months i was playing all day long like 10 dotas daily, but every lose i was thinking the reason behind it and what i could do better for the next one
Literally, after watching this video, I played a game as sven and crushed the enemy team. I did everything right, had 230 lhs by min 20, and finished the game at min 30. His tips are good. My rank is legend one
I wish you made a video about rotating from farming to teamfights. When to do it, how to do it etc. Also separately a video about how to teamfight. I have a substantial networth lead over the enemy carry about 80% of the games but lose the game anyway (2k mmr)
it's so nice to hear all this motivational videos about becoming better at dota, but nobody talks about matchups where your combined teammates IQ is 22. No matter how good you are, how perfect your landing phase is etc. dota is a gamble and for a good reason. If MMR and skill really mattered, only 1k-10K players tops would be playing it. But Steam can't make money of 1k players. It needs millions of players, and that means that they have to feel that thrill of winning once in a while which is taken away from good players. Few understand the algo.
Im a div 3 player not really into playing much more. The only thing stopping me from climbing ranks is the busy life. I think if I have enough time to play dota I could have reach more. 5k+ mmr at the moment with only 200 matches. BTW, just came back to dota and surprised that almost everything you discuss here I already know.
when i try to apply the laning phase tips usually the pos 5 just fucks it up for me, next what keeps happening is i transition into triagle farming pattern and then i see my pos 3 taking ancient camp or the lane that has pushed in.... when i try to tell them usually it doesnt have any effect
New to dota as a league player, i feel like the laning phase and jungle pathing as pos1 is the most overwhelming part for me, it so hard to keep it right
sometimes you dont need to farm around 8-19mins if the other lane is getting dived at the tower carry must sometimes need to rotate, but it dependes on hero as well and situation
ive been party queuing with friends in the crusader bracket when i have reached divine at my peak before doubling down was reintroduced with crownfall. Some of the supports i get in the lower bracket make it feel like a 1v3 lane instead of a 2v2 with incorrect pulls when enemy wave under tower, no harass from spells or right clicks to enemies, roaming randomly when the wave is at an unfavorable position, not contesting lotus or thinking about it at 2:30 mark etc. considering these issues happen from min 0 and not min 8-9 when you can safely jungle, what is the best actions you can take when its difficult to even approach the wave to pull agro? just wait to pull small camp and miss out on the wave? i feel like i get dived and no response many a times from teammates even when they jump under tower. Jungling at low levels waste too many resources to feel efficient and i really feel lost in what to do in games like those which are so frequent.
Must be a sub 2k issue but getting lanes and agree on who farms is the first difficulty, you said it if you don’t incorporate creep waves you fall behind and also loose map control if it’s dark
I would say you can play climb mmr from herald to legend as a carry and if you hit a roadblock you can start playing as a support till divine. since most of the time there will be smurf around that bracket. happy climbing
I am 5k right now and I essentially play all roles; am I better off just sticking to carry to climb and mastering a handful of heroes as opposed to flip flopping between different roles?
Good tips, i only lost 350 mmr while doing what you said. Now im on 230mmr. 🎉 All those tips mean nothing if you have braindead teammates who never push and always jungle or go afk for 5 minutes after every death or never teamfight and go in solo just to die then.
So what do you do when you know the timings and are actively trying to get your team to do it... and they just refuse to do it.. GOt my team to do most of that (as a 4/5) when we finally did RS and pushing I asked them multiples to NOT dive into fountain and lose our advantage... our SF decides to blink next to their fountain and gets hooked in on his aegis use lol...
Do not focus on some specific instances of things going wrong, especially when its other people doing dumb shit. The whole point is for you to improve and be more consistent with your own gameplay, and that will inevitably increase your mmr over time. The best thing you can do is not be in the same bracket as that SF by doing the correct things.
@@lifealchemy1218 Pretty calmly since the game was already going pretty smooth. He got upset once cuz he died on a dive and I didn't say anything at all. Just asked if we could group and go do rosh since we are already so ahead. High ground was easy and we killed 3.. Just asked that we just kill the ancients and head back and reset. He proceeds to blink towards their fountain and they just farm him lol
@@leustaba3723 It's just frustrating sometimes. Most of the time I am just like ah well wcyd but it's people not taking accountability that makes me upset. I went back and watched the replay cuz he promised that he didnt blink in and of course, i go back and watch and he did lmfao. Losing aegis and giving up levels, crap ton of gold and helping them complete the comeback. Then ofc he blames the heroes we all picked. Upsetting but trying to get better at it lol.
As a rule I find people respond poorly to being told not to do stuff since it ends up sounding very accusative, often you'll have better success proposing an alternative plan they can engage in. So instead of "don't fountain dive and screw everything up for us", you could go with "focus buildings and maintain a good distance from potential fountain hooks" (or some other appropriate plan for the game situation). Of course, no advise will ever give you teammates who happily obey every order you bark at them, that's just the nature of pubs. You can drastically improve your chances through positive communication though.
For SEA Archon Players. Legit adivce, play at night. The difference of the avarage player is day and night (literally and figuratively) even tho you are on the same rank. Less Chinese troll player. And people actually communicate in the game. Now of course this mean if you can't compete, you will lose because the enemy will also be good. But at least every single one of your game is an actual 5V5 games, instead of a freak show of Offlane Necro or WK who still farming radiance mintue 25, support who think support is easy so the only thing they do is ward. or core who have zero sense of map awarness and getting picked off everytime. I aplied this to myself and now I'm Ancient. There was a times where I purposely palying at afternoon, and I went from Archon 3 to Crusader 5. Easily climb back again once I play at night again.
You're not wrong. Most of my friends are decent players, just a good bit older and can't keep up as with meta but our fundamentals and understanding of momentum are good. We lose some we win some but we have fun - our day job takes up as late as 9pm so we can only play at night
what about dota's algorithm, keeping you as close to 50% winrate as possible. if you go in winning streak you get paired with worst players of lobby or against the tougher players participating in the bracket
I hope you notice my comment. My mmr is 5,700 but I couldn't climb higher mmr whatever I do. I only play support 4/5. Do you have any tutorial on how to play support on a higher level?
Just have a question since I seen a few of ur videos on reddit an they always been helpful. I've played dota since dota 1 and been in dota 2 since early beta sometimes I get idk if this is the right word but ranked anxiety maybe? I find it easier to just q non ranked dota or a turbo or two. But at times I'd be lying to myself if I felt cheated knowing I wanted to play for something more.. any advice? I haven't been ranked in sometime maybe even before the glicko system so idc if a new rank is lower then old. Is this a common thing? Or have u ever experienced this? Thanks for even reading the question and all the videos.

To all people who think getting MMR is easy, sometimes you will play against a smurf, sometimes toxic players, and sometimes you won't be playing as good as you can, sometimes you will be tired, so think that you will win around 60% of your games so it will take time to get to 1k mmr or more, also focus in improving, to get inmortal it took me 3 months i was playing all day long like 10 dotas daily, but every lose i was thinking the reason behind it and what i could do better for the next one
good vid, especially the all mute advice. i have also all muted and its quite peaceful and easy to win
best tip comes at the end:)
Literally, after watching this video, I played a game as sven and crushed the enemy team. I did everything right, had 230 lhs by min 20, and finished the game at min 30.
His tips are good. My rank is legend one
brilliant video
THIS IS THE GUIDE TO GETTIN GOOD
I wish you made a video about rotating from farming to teamfights. When to do it, how to do it etc. Also separately a video about how to teamfight. I have a substantial networth lead over the enemy carry about 80% of the games but lose the game anyway (2k mmr)
great tip about the 500 range creep aggro pull distance. i always would stand too close and get punished for trying to aggro
love this!
I keep watching everyday while playing
Amazing vid!
its nice that its said need to play carry/core at start i dont need to waste my time
Nice Video would love the same content on the mid role !
The amount of knowledge you will gain in this video is insane bro, thank you so much! 🔥🔥
Cool video , please make one from mid lane perspective
it's so nice to hear all this motivational videos about becoming better at dota, but nobody talks about matchups where your combined teammates IQ is 22.
Yea it really shows how rigged the shit is
You the goat bro
GGWP bro!
After watch this, I finally reach divine rank. +700 MMR in 1 week. Thanks bro
Crazy how i actually watch this then went to sleep 🤣🤣 but its definitely great guide. Im divine and i didnt even know about that 500 agro range lol
I climbed from low legend to high ancient just by watching this video. Dota is simple game indeed!
when i try to apply the laning phase tips usually the pos 5 just fucks it up for me, next what keeps happening is i transition into triagle farming pattern and then i see my pos 3 taking ancient camp or the lane that has pushed in.... when i try to tell them usually it doesnt have any effect
Starting builds: What are your thoughts on quelling blade? If you’re a ranged carry, do you still get it?
If np, hoodwink, tinber mk on enemy
ive been party queuing with friends in the crusader bracket when i have reached divine at my peak before doubling down was reintroduced with crownfall.
Hello, Can you please show us how you do the rotate thing before you hit the creeps? Thanks!
Must be a sub 2k issue but getting lanes and agree on who farms is the first difficulty, you said it if you don’t incorporate creep waves you fall behind and also loose map control if it’s dark
what about when you are gapped on safe lane? what is best to do?
Thanks bro, i climb from 3.9k mmr to 5.7k mmr, and I am making the diference in every game so I Think i will be climbing till 8k
I would say you can play climb mmr from herald to legend as a carry and if you hit a roadblock you can start playing as a support till divine. since most of the time there will be smurf around that bracket. happy climbing
Climbed literally from 1900 to 4300 now trying to reach the at div as an offlaner
Thanks bro
Great video! one question tho, what would you do if you are in the losing side?
Any guide to increase mmr playing as support?
I already almost climbed to immortal from 3k just from your videos 😅
I am 5k right now and I essentially play all roles; am I better off just sticking to carry to climb and mastering a handful of heroes as opposed to flip flopping between different roles?
Good tips, i only lost 350 mmr while doing what you said.
Now im on 230mmr. 🎉
All those tips mean nothing if you have braindead teammates who never push and always jungle or go afk for 5 minutes after every death or never teamfight and go in solo just to die then.
How did you ask him?
What words did you use, and how did your SF feel in response to the tone you used?
The title should then be called "How I would carry to immortal if I had to start from 0"
What about support mains -,-

Can you do the same video for mid laners?
8:12 How do u get that menu to lvl up and change time etc and test different heros? And what map is that?
Same in eu. You can only play from dinner time to like 10-11 at night. After that there is only russian trolls and drug addicts thst play.
Climbed from 200 mmr to 1200 in 2 weeks, and still climbing. thanks @PainDota
TY!
on herald support lasthit too and so hard for last hit
Hello pain, I often consume my role qué and there are times I'm force to play position I'm not comfortable, will you suggest farming role ques?
Now... To climb effectively - how many games you need to play per day?
24:15 my crusader brother just played spectre to solve farming and fighting problem
thanks
what about dota's algorithm, keeping you as close to 50% winrate as possible. if you go in winning streak you get paired with worst players of lobby or against the tougher players participating in the bracket
how about you playing with account buyers?
I hope you notice my comment. My mmr is 5,700 but I couldn't climb higher mmr whatever I do. I only play support 4/5. Do you have any tutorial on how to play support on a higher level?
cool video, learned a lot. please make a video how to grow rank as a pos 2
peace ✌️
wanna now what the mid farming pattern
do u know how many net victory u need from 0 to 9000 nobody have the time is impossible
how i change my lifebar like this ?? plz someone help me
do one for offlane please!!!
Does it work for mid?
Watch my video called how I climbed from 7.7k to 9k, it goes over this
@@PainDota will do thanks for the reply
