    Hi Denise - Started wearing wigs about 2009 when I stopped struggling with coloring my graying hair. There was very little help on the internet for new wig wearers, so I made many mistakes. I want to praise you for doing SUCH A FINE JOB of addressing the practical issues of wig wearing, - like how long the nape is. I think that you may be the very best source for wig wearers on the internet. God bless you for helping newbies. Regarding my nape, I take a razor and remove my fuzzy nape hair

    I've been facing the fact that frog the first time, I NEED a short wig, which is hard for me because I have never had short hair before losing it, but don't feel feminine in short hair. After tons of research, Go To Style is the only one I feel looks feminine enough in the front and has the minimum length at the nape I need for me personally and enough length in back to do a messy fun look. It has taken me a long time to settle on one and its important due to my also being almost completely confined to a hospital bed. Now its finding one I can afford. With the medical costs, even a wonderful deal I found for $150, may as well been a million. If you could !rep me in your prayers Denise, Im putting it in His hands cause that's the only way it'll happen. This was a great video and helped me to be sure I had made the right choice. God bless my sister!

      I totally agree with J F1’s comment about synthetic wigs, and wearing a longer style tied back. I would consider a plait too, it will help a lot with damage from the pillows etc. If took me a while to really understand that wigs are made from plastic, the fibres are thin and delicate, they don’t stand up to friction very well. Think of buying a thin acrylic top and look at it after wearing for a week straight. It will have stretched, rubbed and pilled, it won’t look new any more. Wigs are the same, but worse! Heat Defiant wigs even more so.

    I’d love for you to collaborate with other wig educators and compile a list of ALL the low density wigs in all the brands, giving them a rating of No permatease, Low, and Medium permatease. Then list them in similar styles (perhaps in alghabetical order so that there is no ‘favouritism’ attached to a particular style. You and your colleagues have access to so many wigs, and have a really good handle on the wig construction so can give us an educated and unbiased opinion.

      Gosh, what a fun but time consuming project! If I worked for a wig retailer I would TOTALLY do this as a service to our customers.... the one problem I see is that this is a bit of subjective thing... no permatease is one thing, but rating it low, medium, or high is tough to quantify and I'm not sure everyone would see it the same. What a great thing for the MANUFACTURERS to provide, though... wonder why they don't even mention it?

    This is a great video and was so timely for me since I was looking at shorter wigs since it's SO HOT this summer. I bought Easy Does It by RW from a wig sister to try, and your video helped me evaluate it since I also have a lower hairline in the back. I think it's going to work well for me since it's got good coverage on the sides - something I would have never thought to check before purchasing a short style. Thanks!!

    I enjoy wearing my pixies! I’ve been growing my hair out too. I’ve been hoping it would take some room up in the cap but it so thin and looks so bad. I’ve been keeping the side of my nape buzzed because it’s so baby fine and thin and doesn’t contribute anything to my hair. I’ve been also doing and undercut of my nape to keep it from showing. My sis says that I have hair where I don’t need it! I’ll pass on Ignite because of the permatease. Tks!

    • @amitchell9820
      @amitchell9820 2 роки тому

      Your hair sounds like mine, baby fine,thin and slick. If I could swap the hair on the back of my head and nape to the front of my head I wouldn’t need a wig. The more mine grows out the worse it looks and makes my wigs slide around on my head, and itch. I wear It Stays to secure my wigs but doesn’t work as well with longer hair. Right now I cut my own hair which is a challenge trying to hold a mirror, clippers and look at the back of my head in a wall mirror. I’ve had more than a few oopsies cutting the back of my hair. I want to get it professionally cut but hate to spend money on something no one is going to see. Then there’s also going in a public place and taking off my wig or cap in front of everyone. I’m still very conscious of my hair loss and uncomfortable letting others see me without a wig or cap.

    Funny I came across this video!! I have been searching for a short style that will fit my face shape. It's sooooo hard!! Thanks for showing some in this video. I have written them down each with a score lol Shane scored the highest. I really like the shape and density and looks very natural to me. The nape may pose a problem but that's what razors are for 😊

My circumference is average it's 22 inches but I have heard some people review this also have a 22 inch and they feel more comfortable in the large cap... so, sooner or later I will order it. I'm about 18 months into my journey and have learned by experience that because my preference is for short straight out of the box pixies with a fringe, the basic caps are absolutely fine for me. Unfortunately it really is a case of trying a few different styles/cap types until you find your sweet spot. I like low density wigs such as the O'Solite collection by Jon Renau.

    • @heywigsister
      @heywigsister  2 роки тому

      I just made a video on this yesterday.... hope to have it uploaded in the next week. The short answer is that I am wearing my wigs in updos and ponytails all the time lately, and I was needing some hair to blend at the sides since I don't always get great coverage on my wigs. I decided to grow my hair out and see if that helped and it totally does!!! I talk about it in the video because up until recently I never put my wigs up and so it didn't matter... we go through phases in what styles we like so sometimes buzzed hair may be best and sometimes hair to blend may be best... the problem I am having is that now you can see my hair at the nape of short wigs, so I may have to forgo those for now since updos are the thing at the moment, lol. Always trade offs.... I do miss my buzzed hair, though... in a lot of ways it was MUCH easier.

    • @sarahf7990
      @sarahf7990 2 роки тому

      @@heywigsister I totally understand. I have that problem myself. When I first buzzed my hair I left my little sideburn?? pieces lol and that did help make it look more natural. But now if I do wear a wig with a ponytail I have to wear an elastic headband to help hide it. I do love my buzzed hair but I do think about growing it out for that purpose. Gives you more options. Thanks so much for replying. You are truly an inspiration and help me to not feel so alone in this journey. 😇
