The acid blood could also serve as a universal immune system. The Xenomorph was designed to wipe out intelligent species on a planetary scale. However, the Engineers wouldn't know ahead of time what types of environments would be on the planets they targeted and they wouldn't know what dangerous microorganisms would live on each planet. Instead of specifically adjusting the Xenomorph's immune system for each specific target planet, why not just give them blood so acidic that no virus or bacteria, regardless of its origin, could possibly survive in the Xenomorph's bloodstream -- it'd be dissolved on contact. So the Xenomorph would never have to worry about even the deadliest of diseases or viruses on ANY planet. Also, it would be immune to biological weaponry based on microorganisms, too. Pretty nifty design -- a universal immune system good on any planet.
@Ted Bundy Knowing what's on it doesn't change the difficulty though. It would be pretty hard to vaccinate/make them immune or have a strong immunity against all the viruses for each specific planet
The craziest thing that I took out of this video is that, if you look closely, the Xenomorphs have a transparent layer on their head that hides a human-like skull. How did I never hear about that before???
@@jurgenkarambit2084 You can't tell me, you saw Alien once and noticed it right away without knowing about it already. It is way to obscure in the movie proper to be easily noticed.
Lots of people didn't notice it. Many people saw it on VHS of which had some poor quality so, when ALIENS came about, they based the ALIENS on the VHS version but the 1979 Kenner toy has the transparent dome and human skull-it also glows in the dark if I remember.
@@janwettstein7644 Teflon is only a health concern when ingested or inhaled. Even then it's a minor concern, especially compared to a Xenomorph. The extra protection would definitely be helpful and in no way a liability.
It pisses me off that Dan O'Bannon is almost never mentioned when it comes to Aliens. He wrote the screenplay for the first movie which was an adaption of a story he wrote with Ronald Shusett yet Ridley Scott is cited as the creator of the franchise even though all he did was direct the first film.
Thanks acid glow for your content big fan but also a huge fan of the alien creature itself it's terrifying and beautiful at the same time I would never want to come across it ever. But yet learning more about its biology is very interesting so thank you for that
We should remember that in ALIEN (the 1st film) it is only the face-hugger that is shown to have acidic blood, which prevents attempts to remove it from Kane after the first attempt resulted in the expulsion of some of that blood. No example of the chest-burster or the grown-up version in ALIEN displayed this same acid-for-blood trait. This was only established in the sequel, ALIENS. It does seem reasonable, though, to have assumed all along that the chest-burster would also share the same blood chemistry as the face-hugger.
In 6:36 reminds me of the tubes on my snow blower, they get clogged with snow and can't compress due to snow in-between the ridges, and if this creature cannot warmup to melt through this ,makes sense why they were put into a deep freeze for avp, just saying
From the facehuggers blood that went through 3 metal floors that a full grown xenos blood would be far superior and would've melted ( even one drop) Hudson's arm off or unfunctional.......right?
The Xenomorphs are in some ways like dragons because they seem to exist to destroy life, they both take over a former human habitat, and destroy humans for food. A dragon likes to sit upon a pile of treasure, and the xenomorph eggs could be analogous to a dragon’s treasure.
So since predators have access to armor and weapons thats immune to this acid, would said armor and weapons be able to withstand a lightsaber strike but NOT a direct stab?
I've always thought that xenomorph from aliens represented the polar opposite of humanity's achievements; technology. While humans took pride of their tools and became the apex species of their homeworld, xenomorph were the mother nature's pride and became the apex species of its world. My uncle, who's an engineer once said mother nature is the best engineer in the universe. From looking at the life cycle of the xenomorph, the species can adopt to its new environment within one generation by taking host DNA as a footprint to overcome their weakness. In terms of biology, that is a significant edge when it comes to survival. Hence, they are the perfect organism.
In avp-r was the alien in the school not eating it's victim? It looked like it was using it's inner jaw to take bites out of him right before Wolf puts his combistick through the back of the alien's head?
Well, the Aliens have to get the silicon and whatever their acid is composed of from something, don't they? It also looked like the runner was eating the human it just killed in Alien 3. I think that if the alien blood was sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, etc. it would get large amounts of energy from oxidizing whatever it ate.
What do aliens eat? In the movie avp requiem theres a scene where an alien uses his inner tongue to eat a dead body beside the pool before the predator wolf kills it
The facehugger in the 1st movie did not spit acid, it cut it's self upon violently penetrating Kane's helmet. It just so happened that not of it got on Kane.
Wrong it clearly says that the facehugger was able to spit a small amount of acid to crack and break through Kanes helmet. Maybe know what your talking about. Before you open your mouth. You sound like an idiot. So the commentary for that scene was wrong. When the creators spoke about it? You're a fucking moron.
1:41 That doesn't look like a normal xenomorph. A normal xenomorph drone would have teeth that look humanoid, but then have a set sharp canine teeth (I think canine teeth) not a full set of sharp teeth.

I’m starting to think you came up with your name as this sort of love for your favorite movie franchises. Acid is obviously from the Alien franchise and the Predator’s blood glows.
AcidGlow Haven’t been up to date with your videos lately since school but I’ve managed some time to watch one. Great video! Do you think we will ever get another AvP or Predator game?
Is it possible that the acid blood is like Sulfuric Acid in a car battery? That seems to make sense to me, especially since the alien could eat small amounts of soluble material and get a lot of energy from the super concentrated acid dissolving whatever it ate. At least it's not hydrofluoric acid in their blood...
How would it get a lot of energy by the acid dissolving something? Unless there's a redox reaction involved. So it would have to eat elemental metals. Not a favourable mechanism if you ask me. Also: it's own proteins would hydrolyse turning it into a big pile of slime. Probably only a defense mechanism.
ok let me get this right,a xenomorphs blood can burn through anything including cold steel, but a plastic bucket can be used to transport it?......cool.....
So how did Ripleys body contain the acidic blood when she was a clone???... Blood has oxygen in it and white cells and red cells but in her blood It was black???... How can oxygen mix with acid??.. Just a rambling sub trying to go to sleep.. Lol.. Good video dude
"perfect organism" yet is dependant on other organisms to mature A truly perfect organism would not require other species or discardable members to survive or mature. A truly perfect organism would be boring, as any perfection is. The claim of perfection on the other hand is a form of plot armor, to justify some otherwise inexplicable interaction or other things that result in de-suspension of disbelief.
You're right, the parasite development it's what make xenomorphes a weapon. Just think if xenos could sexually procreate or even if every alien could infect bodys with "seeds", they would be unstoppable, a truly perfect organism
Where does the alien find nutrients for such a body ? And in enough supply ? And i wonder how the first guy got facehugged through the helmet and wasn't acid splashed at all.
If the cockroches acid blood can burn anything. I wonder what it can do to Adamantium what do you think acidglow? Also acidglow do all of Xenomorph species have acid blood?
Wait. But in AVP: Requiem, there is a scene where one xenomorph drone goes back to the victim killed in the pool. There we actually see the xenomorph trying to eat him using the secondary mouth before being killed by Wolf. Maybe they just consume the victims after there purpose as hosts has been completed?
One silly question:The Acid Blood flowes through the body of the xenomorph. It destroys every organic material, so the nutrians, delivered by their prey. How could they live? They are complex liveforms too. They have organs. The chemestry to operate the metabolism vor livesupport will be prevented by such corrosiv blood.

Okay, but subject I've always wanted to discuss, is how does the alien, having acid blood, not corrode it's own system. Do they have Teflon bodies?
But the acid effect changes Drake got shower on acid and Hicks a splash but in AvPR the acid severed an arm also melts a face

Polytetrafluoroethylene should be used on the armor to fight these creatures effectively without the worry of getting corroded by the blood.
But on the inside of the armor or physical attacks would render it useless after the first 60 Seconds of battle

So the predator weapons are Teflon coated so you can cook with them without your food sticking to it?

Those acids can melt anything on its way. That's what makes the xenomorph deadly bedsides their inner Jaws, claws and tail.
