  • here's a cheap way to grind Tungsten with a angle grinder that's safe, effective, and won't contaminate your Tungsten before you start welding!
here's the ones I used in the video. you have to take a pair of pliers and remove the brass ring in the middle but they work well.

call me a fool, but i have never seen anyone use a pair of welpers and a crescent wrench to clean break a tungsten. TiG welding has put bread on my table for almost 15 years and i have never seen this technique. you get a like and a sub my man!

I went to a lab where this really tall heavy older lady was the metallography engineer. She had the same wheel set up in a bench grinder and covered up the holes with pieces of white cutting board. There was a vacuum cleaner hooked up to the grinder, and the shroud was round to make it impossible to do anything other than side-wheel that side of the grinder. The other side had a scotch brite wheel on it. Very interesting person to talk to.

A Harbor Freight 9 Amp Circular Saw Blade Sharpener comes complete with diamond wheel plus it has a factory installed eye guard. I stripped off the circular saw holder and it is done. No machining involved. Total price $55. I also purchased A replacement blade.🤞

I still need a tig welder!! Yet here I am watching your videos about what I don’t even own yet. Good stuff. The knowledge will be used in time. Thanks

Prime weld, or everlast has the highest quality lowest price and most features. I bought a everlast 255ext with a water cooler and it's amazing but you don't have to spend 3k to get started.

Thank you I'm a newbie at this so I'm learning. I knew cross-contamination was an issue so I use a dedicated wheel for that. But Ivet welded more than one tungsten to the surface I was welding. I never realized that contaminating the tungsten rod after a stick and the cup are essentially just as important. Great information I'll keep watching for more.

Don't matter if you clean it off after with unchorinated brake Clean don't use chlorinated the fumes will kill you when you weld that's why the brake Clean hack is frowned open just read your cans tho

    Hello,
♥Simply the best, thanx for uploading and a brilliant idea using a cordles screwdriver and cheap diamond disk!♥
only I would to mention, because inhaling tungsteen dust is very dangerous, even more in my case,
I love to use radioactive Thorium WIG Needles, but I prefere to grinding them outside wearing a proper professional perfectly closed gum dusk musk,
because I don´t wont to get a lung cancer, we all have to die, but I´d like to live a bit longer,
    Beste Grüße aus Deutschland!

Be better to grind a groove in the tungsten with the diamond wheel first, THEN break it off. Less chance of cracking/splitting.

Yup you're right took me a while to realize I had a few that were running the arc off one side of the split. I don't break them like this any more.

cheapest harbor freight bench grinder + cheapo chinese diamond coated disc 100 grit (must be flat and not offset). remove the nut holding one of the wheels on and pop the diamond disc over it and replace the nut. make sure the disc arbor size matches your grinder arbor. chuck the tungsten in a drill and sharpen away. been working great for me for a year now!

It's called cracking the tungsten...and you will crack it..not good practice...use a thin wheell grinder to cut oof the rod and then you can have a solid piece with no cracks...fact/
