      Sounds about right. My local city spends around $500k a year on statues and similar beauty projects and then tears most of them down in a year or two. They once spent around $50k planting a bunch of trees on a "new wildlife sanctuary" and then cut most of them down withing 3 years and then poisoned the rest because the non native trees got infested with an invasive pest. They also cut down a small forest down the road from me and had the balls to call it a "protected wetland" after the logging drove away all the animals. Meanwhile they've ignored the growing homeless population and declining schools due to lack of funding

    Not for the first time nor the last, Harold had to learn that you can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear. Especially if that sow's ear has a lot of history and traditions backing it up.

    Instead of the belts with cutlery, use coconut mats instead or those cheap mats made out of old tires. Put one or two in front of each drive wheel. Works every time. Throw in trunk when done and be on your way. The cutlery job won't be legal.

      Actually Canada was built by the natives. Those that weren't used to cut down trees and build dams were sent back east and killed. Many wound up in europe as mere accessories of the wealthy. Countless beavers died to build Canada.

    Harold says he paid the $5000 out of his own pocket. Where did he get the $5000? If he had it all along, then he could have paid it then and not had to get Red involved.

    xristosdomini: I have done similar. you need a sound capture device on board with lapel mics/or lap mics and radio trans to receiver/record, and for vid a small low power vid , we did radio control. very similar out put after sync in post prod. notice delicate back ground sounds , they can also be added in post.
    all "magic" happens in post. ;)

    I love the sequence with the guys in the boat on the lake. I wonder how they filmed it with such a smooth action? No wake from a second boat, no sound of an outboard, and no choppiness from people moving around on the water.

      So this comment is six years old, but on the chance you'll see my reply... My guess is they used a crane for those shots.

    • @bostonrailfan2427
      @bostonrailfan2427 4 роки тому

      If you look closely at the edge of the water you see the subtle wake of the camera track...they have a camera on a submerged track and slowly pan along the track, it’s barely visible in the water thanks to the low angle shot allowing them to take the 360 degree shot without disturbing the water

    • @bostonrailfan2427
      @bostonrailfan2427 4 роки тому

      Alex Snow no crane but a tight shot zoomed in at a low angle to hide the wake from moving around in a circle...it’s barely visible but you can make it out

    How come we never even hear anything about Harold's parents or other family members?

    • @AlexSnow96
      @AlexSnow96 4 роки тому +1

      Red mentioned in one episode, as a retort to something Harold said, that Harold was only there as a favor to Red's brother (Harold's father). I read somewhere that it meant that Red had borrowed money from his brother to take charge of the lodge, and took Harold as an employee as a way of paying him back.

      it wasn't in every show. idk how it worked exactly but sometimes there were different bits like the word game, the animal things, ranger gord, that "advice" thing where they sit on the couches... really the only thing that was in every episode was handyman corner and the meeting at the end.

    11:00 don't like the addition of the laugh tracks on this segment . it was an interlude in the show , which imho had an important potentiating effect for the humor for the whole episode . you would still laugh at the jokes they made fishing in the halcyon pond .
