Damn. How many endings and secrets are in this update? I don't think this is the Ending 3 we've been looking for still though, doesn't look like chad plays a role, and stuff and we know that ending is in chapter 4. I'll have to make another NG++ save and run through the game again to see this I guess. Also 'THE END' hits hard. No credits, no asking for NG++, actually feels like some Finality in this story for once, like this is a proper ending.
Hooooly shit, so many thoughts. Alex's whole thing is finding Sammy (i.e. his imagined, parasocial version of a girl he read about on the internet and didn't actually ever meet) and rescuing her, like some kind of videogame protag rescuing the princess. Which, the game says, is what causes all your friends to get sick of you and cut you out of their li- uh ahh uh I mean, "your reality to be destroyed" (along with generally treating your friends like garbage). And the KNN ending (and, more directly, the """unused""" """cut""" ending that ends in an Ocarina of Time homage) is Alex fully giving into his sad delusion. My initial impression from this is that this is kind of like a KNN ending, but for Michael, and told from the perspective of the idea _he's_ obsessively/destructively chasing, his lost love. (or is it the girl he kissed when he was a kid and then moved away from because something horrible happened to her?) We see him contacting her successfully, either through the Demon Auction or ONISM, and she joins him, diving through the blackened p- uh ahh I mean, the computer screen. Knowing this game, of course, initial impressions are way off the mark and I bet if I play it a bunch more times I'll piece even more of the puzzle pieces together and come up with a completely different understanding of this. Gahhhhh how is this game so intriguing!! I didn't even address the stuff about Kisage X and Originality and digital soul vessels
I think you’re mostly on the money with one exception. This isn’t Michael’s delusional ending. It’s ours. The players. Remember that the nameless child is Us. We are going through the Blackened Pond. If I’m being a little cynical, this (and a lot of I.V. In totality) is a conversation about player reaction to Alex, and the obsession with Sammy and Essentia. With his extensive pained prose. Now we get this extended universe centered on Michael, on Chondra and to a lesser extent Claudio. Of course our escapist ending is a surrealist, mostly wordless symbolic severing of everyone twisted up in Alex (note each heart location!) before falling into the Pond at Micheal’s urging.
@@winra1217 I think this showing Michael's involvement in building a digital soul vessel with Yuzu, possibly hinting that Yuzu is an alternate Michael? Worth noting how there aren't any credits, the game just kicks you back to the title screen, almost making it not a "real" ending. Perhaps this is what happens to Michael and Allison if Alex chooses the KNN ending?
@@WeLike_Ike Fair point, while the KNN ending doesn't really happen in the game, we assume it does and Alex doesn't cause the end of the world, meaning Michael and Allison can be together again. I also remembered in benevolent psychosis that Michael kind of dislikes Alex when Allison mentions him when they were under the tree. Now that Alex ceases to exist, theres no boundary between Michael and Allison. Lets not forget too, the essentia is known to be a filthy liar, so maybe instead of essentia being Yuzu, it was Michael the entire time, and Essentia was lying to Alex that he hurt her instead of Michael. Idrk to be honest, post-modern writing this avant-garde requires you to look into the details with extreme scrutiny, ESPECIALLY with this game, haha.

All of the endings to this game are extremely unsatisfying to me, please tell me there’s more to find.

Found the ng+ ending fairly satisfying, feels like a nice closure.
