I miss the era of TNG, the production team for TNG actually hired a scientific consultant to assist the writers in creating believable sounding techno babble. In STD they just ramble some scientific words but it doesn't make sense.
It is actually not about the scientific consultants. (I actually think they still have some now.) The problem is different; original writers were mature enough to write adult and competent sounding characters even when the consultants were not around. This is problem of imature writers. Scientific consultants alone wouldn't be able to improve this.

the cringiest part is that the words they're using are actually real mathematical but the way they're using them doesn't make sense. "harmonic resonance" is just a needlessly complicated way of saying that one signal's frequency is an intenger-multiple of the other signal's frequency. It doesn't in any way make sense to use that to match another system's frequency. And since Adira is easily capable of observing that the frequency is 8.4 Hz (which is ridiculously low in most contexts) then there's no reason why the Breen should need any special techniques to make the same observation. They just have to make their shields cycle at 8.4 Hz. Granted, it's not supposed to make sense just sound complicated, but somebody should notify the DSC writers that using real words instead of made-up words only makes you sound smarter if you use them in a way that make sense.

STD has flamethrowers on the bridge and a turbolift chamber that is bigger than the ship that contains it.

The worst bit with all of this and i'm sure most will agree, we wanted STD to be a success and a enjoyable continuation of the Star Trek Franchise. I agree, I wanted Discovery to be good. In the morning before the first episode, I rubbed my hands together, literally, in hope for a good Star Trek show. Instead we got pessimistic, cynical, dystopian anti-Trek sewage.
