we NEED more JR. The man is an American treasure.
I’ve never seen him do anything other than post-game interviews. He’s a good long form interview. He has interesting insights, and knows how to talk.
Funny how he's viewed changed in recent times and when people actually listen. For the most part people would say he was a low IQ chucker
Totally agree!!! JR is such an underrated guest!!
@@silewis9396 yeah now that JR is retired he’s been doing lots of interviews and podcasts. So now people are starting to see that although he made lots of boneheaded and low IQ plays on the court and got criticized for it, he is an intelligent and insightful person.
@@trippinatormachine Yes thats why I find fans who assume things annoying... like he doesn't even drink Hennessy!
Might be my favorite interview to date. JR knows who he is and knows what he's not and just simply speaks his truth.
What JR said about Delly is why the CLE will always have love for him, and it is also the same reason we will always have love for JR and Shump. The effort and willingness to defend in that 2015 series when they knew they had no offense (not no O, but let’s be honest) was absolutely incredible. JR and Shump that series were absolutely incredible. JR will always be one of my favorite players 💯. Nothing but love for this dude. No one is perfect, all one can ask from someone is effort and buy in, and JR had both while he was in the CLE. 👊
Same for Channing Frye and RJ
Love this interview and love JR man. Just a good due and what a sniper and champ!! Still people forget JR scored 8 straight points in game 7 2016
Nd that game was a dog fight they needed every one of them points
Exactly JR really kept them in that game! Those points were BIG!!!!
Good chance they lose by double digits if JR doesn't hit those shots
He's family forever because of that
@@donnelldorsey8544 b hmm
JR talking about James Jones and Mike Miller’s roles in the 2016 comeback was a great insight
What will really boggle your mind is that Mike Miller was in Denver that year.
Interview starts @ 15:03
U are the real MVP
Good looks
Thanks bro , idc what anyone says you're a good guy
🐐 🐐 🐐
👍👍👍👍
JR was as talented as anyone. Not only had the skills to make both the dunk contest and the 3pt contest but also was a shot creator as well

This interview was outstanding. It flowed naturally, with no interruptions, and how JJ was able to relate to some of his experiences👌🏾👌🏾
hearing jr get real and talk about being embracing personhood beyond being an athlete was so good to hear
59:18 "Delli almost DIED guarding Steph Curry"😂💀

JRs post game 7 championship interview is one of the best and most touching interviews I’ve ever watched.

Loved this interview. JR is such a good dude and it’s great to see him doing well.
words of wisdom from JR, wasn't expecting it... but boy did I need it!
I’ve always liked jr after seeing this video of him being friends with a mentally challenged kid that played golf. He took it upon himself to ago above and beyond to make that kid feel accepted and comfortable.
Now after hearing that part about JR opening up on making a docuseries I realize how well spoken and self aware he is too. What a cool guy, I’m a bigger fan thank already was.
JR smith one of the kings royal knights, came up big game 7 3rd Q 2016 finals with those 8 points to keep it tight into the 4th, deserves his flowers 🌸🌹🌺
Ky should have never left Bron, they’re perfectly made for each other. They compliment each other’s talents…
Bron shouldn't have tried to trade him and son him.
@@russellgeorge433 what has Ky done without lebron?
@@russellgeorge433 people always have all these LeGM accusations based on no evidence at all.
He definitely influences organizational decisions but people act like he's spending his free time having meetings with real GMs discussing players he wants to trade.
Kyrie is a conspiracy theorist , he probably just believed rumors without evidence the same as Lebron haters online do.
@@juju-vl7oj 💯 dead on 😂
@@juju-vl7oj I think he just tells the gm what moves they should make or what they should do
One of the best episodes in a minute. Role players kinda have better episodes than the stars just to provide the insight they have
The third person view usually is
Completely agree. JR and Iman Shumpert are two of the best storytellers out there rn
Facts. Veteran role players experience in the league is highly underrated

Thank you 🤞🏿
One of my favorite Knicks EVER. Will never forget his time here in NY guy was so electric. Awesome to see how smart he is as a person too, he meant a lot to my generation of Knicks fans.
JJ Redick is what we’ve been missing in the sports podcasting world. He articulates very well, knows when to throw in his jokes (but doesn’t overdo it), always compliments his interviewee when necessary, and most importantly LETS THEM SPEAK!
on the other hand what a great guy Jr.Smith is. Coming to to the league at 18 years old must of been a night and day switch and to here his story is truly inspiring!
Love this pod! I feel like most athletes have to redefine themselves after sports , whether you make it to the league or not, much harder when you didn’t make the league and you’re stuck in your environment , much respect to JR . I also had anxiety about reading out loud early in school and hearing someone talk about it , it’s nice and refreshing
We need part 2 of this. I can listen to JR stories all day 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Literally
I’m so glad this man came to cleveland and I got a chance to watch him up close. This dude is the best. And the more that comes out the more I like him. SWISH FOR LIFE
Hell yeah
This conversation far exceeds basketball. So many amazing life lessons in here J.R seems like an honest guy and s redeeming person to be around
This is one of the best interviews ever, let me know JR from a whole new perspective, respectful and wise, amazing human being.
We were fortunate enough to witness JR Smith play in HS with the Hurley’s at St. Benedict’s Prep. He was the only kid we witnessed as a HS player that went straight to the NBA. By far he was the best HS basketball player we ever saw play in person. Unbelievably athletic and great shooter off the bounce. Eventually wins 2 NBA titles. He’d be a great guy to have on an NBA bench to relate to a lot of the NBA youth.
I’m watching Redefined and it’s impossible not to be impressed by J.R. It’s amazing that he’s going to college and developing his mind. And it’s equally amazing what he’s doing on and with the golf team. He’s really inspirational. And he’s a genuinely good person.
I LOVE JR MENTALITY AS A DAD BRO. THIS IS WHAT DADS SHOULD BE.
Mannnn I remember that baseline spinning, reverse double-pump dunk when he was in New York..
I'm surprised they didn't talk more about NY, JR had a RUN when Melo went out and he was repeatedly dropping 30 balls.
One of the best dunks I ever seen.
Bro was hitting wild step back fade corner buzzer beater 3s more than once!!
That what I was looking for
This is probably my favourite sports podcast episode ever. Like that was the fastest 1hr 17 of my life. Loved it
It really is and don't seem long enough
J.R. Is super long and thick though.
how can you not like JR smith - guy is as real as real gets. awesome show easily one of my favs yet!
JR Smith with the Dolla Bill refrence with the "green light" in Vegas. One of my favorite players of all time
Favourite episode yet! JR was mad entertaining and compelling to listen to and the respect between he and JJ was noticeable! 🙏
Love that you guys put in the work to get in person interviews when you can, they make it so much better. And at this point this pod is a must listen for me, one of me three or five favorite voices in basketball these days.
1 BS and Russillo
2 First things First
3. This pod
Would also accept the reverse order
Thanks I'm a relatively new NBA fan and it's been a pleasure to "meet" JR and learn about his place in modern basketball.
Thanks for the interview and content! It was very good. I can confirm I both laughed and subbed. Thanks @ JR and JJ & Co
JR Smith would of been a superstar with the right guidance
Always liked him but after this interview, JR just became one of my fave players. Dude is introspective and a great story teller! From an Ohio boy...thanks JR!
This might be my NEW favorite interview!
GREAT WORK!!!
One of the best interviews yet! Thanks JJ & crew
love how jj and tommy let the guests speak and great insight of everything
One of the best episodes so far, love seeing JR getting better in life. 🙏🏼
Excellent interview. JR is a real one. He will forever be a Cavs legend. Salute!
NJ Legend. In HS JR was an urban legend. There were stories of him in Neptune stepping across half court knocking down threes.
Love this pod and JR has always been an inspiring dude. Keep doing your thing JR!
Happy to see he’s invested in growth more than ever now that he retired, he gave my 11 year old self some of the best memories watching him as a knick
Probably the best interview on the pod. He's so interesting to listen to
Such an easy interview to listen to. I was at the hour mark and thought I'd accidentally fast forwarded cuz it literally felt like 15 minutes had passed.
Shirtless JR is forever goated.
Gotta bring this pod to the golf course, vlog style bro
Great show we needed this man on.
Loved JR when he was on the Knicks. Dude was an awesome guest, love how real he is. One of my favs, he really did redefine himself!
This was one of the best for sure can’t wait til y’all bring him back 🤞 👍
Watched Game 7 outside the Q in Cleveland. One of the greatest nights of my entire life. Thanks JR!
Delly almost died guarding steph 😭😭😂😂
this is the best interview on this channel and theres tons of good ones
Wow, this is such a great interview. So fun and in depth.
JR Smith was one of my favorite players from my childhood, really liking his transition to the post play era.
Pretty dope episode. Need a part 2 of this JJ.
One thing I fw that he said is. “It’s not about them taking me serious it’s about me taking me serious” that’s real that’s how I’m seeing it with my life and it’s cool that a nba who’s a millionaire who can have anything he wants and can do anything he wants still thinks this way. It’s very motivating
Elite podcast. The insight on the inner NBA is awesome
JR SMITH IS THE BEST! Shooters Shoot. Glad to see him grown as a man and such a good head on his shoulders. I bet he is the best papa those girls could ask for! Keep your head high JR.
One of the best interviews I've ever seen. Unequivocally.
thank u for these amazing interviews
JR is a great man, fantastic podcast and appearence by him!
Love this man.. two straight fire interviews
Loved how insightful and how honest JR was about some of his insecurities like education playing second fiddle and being terrified of reading. I think he's really eloquent- he pauses and thinks before answering questions and is able to articulate his thoughts really well. His communication style is really different than interviews with super young stars like Trae, Dejounte, and Tyler Herro, etc. who throw in "You know", "know what I'm saying", "I mean", jargon/filler and have low self awareness. The media portrays him as a selfish chucker on the Henny, but he's actually really mature.
Really mature now....now lol You're comparing a wise ollder JR to kids atm. Unfair comparison as they are still immature
@@DV-ou1yu its not a knock against the young guys- just saying its great seeing how JR has evolved from a boneheaded player. the young dudes will (hopefully) grow up too! I don't mean any disrespect to the younger kids
@Eric Kao Naw, this younger generation deserves to be humbled though. Lol
@@DV-ou1yu totally agreed, they're entitled and whiney
Great interview. Love seeing Jr’s evolution. Also, we still waiting on our Booray tutorial 😂
This is one of all time best interviews
I'm 5 mins into the JR interview and the amount of respect I have gained for that man would be hard to explain. Salute to you, king. I wish nothing but the best for you and you deserve every bit of it.
Bro JR for real was my favorite player growing up, i tried to model my game after him, much to my coach’s detriment 😂😂 one of the truly unique players in nba history
Why didn't your coach like it? His game was crazy . Unless you weren't as good lol.
@@russellgeorge433 bro of course i wasnt as good. If i was i would be in the league 😂 my man JR is one of the best bad shot makers of all time

time well spent... great content guys...😂😂😂
I was working in Vancouver this past November and I randomly see JR Smith in the middle of down town Vancouver casually walking with his wife. As someone that love the Cleveland team that won I was shocked. Didn’t say anything though. He was with his wife and I’m sure being in Vancouver was to just get away and be able to go unnoticed and be a regular person.
I saw him with his wife in a Whole Foods in Jersey and didn’t say anything too lol. Walked right by passed him , felt crazy.
Vancouver in Canada or Vancouver in Washington state?

Do you think we will see the NBA back in Vancouver again? I love your city (even though I am a Winnipeg Jets fan).

This was an amazing interview. JR Smith is an awesome guy. Wish you wouldve touched more on the 3-1 comeback and really dove deep into that but still an awesome conversation
An amazing interview!
I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this episode of the podcast as it shed a new light on my perception of JR. It's always been a curiosity of mine to understand how professional athletes manage their personal lives, especially after retirement. Hearing J.R.'s candid perspective in the first part of the interview was truly eye-opening. His insights and experiences have left me intrigued and made me want to watch his docu series.
This reads like a paid ad lol, I agree though
@@migamaos3953 god i wish i was paid
JR is very good at these podcasts. Plus JJs questions. Good podcast! I really love listening tp these types of stories
Think this was the best interview on this podcast to date
What JR said about VULNERABILITY as a black man was stellar. I know his daughters are proud of him!
Watching this almost 2 weeks after the finals & it’s pretty interesting hearing confident takes on how the playoffs would go.
Fully respect this man. Words of truth. Words of the Heart💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
another great interview in the books awesome stuff jj and tommy
Man JR si the definition of dont judge a book by its cover. ... The dude has a GREAT heart and his mentality is amazing. His Amazon prime docu is great too!
so glad to see jr get his flowers
I thought J.R's series would be corny. It was not at all. An inspiration for Adults and a true testament on how hard work can get your anywhere you want to be!
Congrats on your 4.0 JR!
This is a top 5 episode for sure
His explanation of opening up about his life struggles to show his kids a new side of him is honestly amazing, what a beautiful soul J.R. is
Dude JJ, that Draft King plug in was so smooth!! Fire brother.
One of the best episodes is the jr smith episodes. He describe his Cavs year is 💯
What a character, and such an underrated player. I remember being lucky enough to get close to courtside seats in Philly years ago when the Nuggets were visiting and seeing him do a spin-move dunk that my mouth is still open in wonder about.
One of my favorite players
I really enjoyed this one. I hope you can get him back again to talk about his college golfing career
Great interview. I will be checking out his doc you series I love JR on or shirt off.
Great interview 💯
Great stuff!
My all time favorite player. Thank you!
What game were they playing
Awesome ep
I definitely hope that we get that split in Cleveland. One thing that bodes well for our side is that we have multiple players who have Post season experience so I think can be an advantage for us. As far as Obi I hope he ball's out this series and hope he gets the money he deserves.
JJ and Tommy with these amazing interviews!
I really enjoyed the convo.....
